Brad Snyder has cleared waivers.

The 32-year-old first baseman was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Tuesday after going 5-for-30 (.167) in two weeks in Texas. He hasn't decided yet whether he will elect free agency or head to Triple-A Round Rock.

Rangers designated 1B Brad Snyder for assignment.

Snyder went 5-for-30 (.167) in two weeks with the injury-battered Rangers, who will now try Carlos Pena at first base. Snyder, 32, will likely pass through waivers.
Jun 24 - 4:03 PM

Brad Snyder went 2-for-3 with his first career home run in Sunday's loss to the Mariners.

Snyder, promoted on June 10 in the wake of Mitch Moreland's injury, took Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma deep to give the Rangers an early lead. The 32-year-old has three hits in his first 14 at-bats, but he should continue to see playing time at first base with the Rangers' lack of better options.

Rangers purchased the contract of OF Brad Snyder from Triple-A Round Rock.

Snyder is starting at first base and batting sixth for the Rangers on Tuesday night. He had a .923 OPS with 18 home runs and 51 RBI through 61 games this season at the Triple-A level and may be worth a flier in deeper mixed leagues given Texas' multitude of injuries. The 32-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011.
Jun 10 - 4:07 PM

Rangers signed OF Brad Snyder to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Snyder, 31, batted .311/.370/.494 with 12 home runs and 60 RBI over 116 games with the Diamondbacks' Triple-A affiliate this year. He'll likely function as organizational depth next season.

Diamondbacks signed OF Brad Snyder to a minor league contract.

Snyder spent all of 2012 at Triple-A with the Astros, batting .304/.375/.550 with 20 homers. The 30-year-old is merely organizational depth.

Astros signed OF Brad Snyder to a minor league contract.

Snyder posted a decent .290/.336/.465 batting line this season at the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in Iowa. But the 29-year-old outfielder has amassed only 37 career plate appearances in the major leagues and probably won't have better luck with Houston. He was selected by the Indians in the first round of the 2003 MLB Amateur Draft.

Cubs sent OF Brad Snyder outright to Triple-A Iowa.

Snyder cleared waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. While the 29-year-old is well past the days of being considered a top prospect, he's a useful bat to have around at the Triple-A level.

Cubs designated OF Brad Snyder for assignment.

The Cubs needed to add another reliever, so he loses his spot on the bench. Snyder picked up just one hit in nine at-bats after being called up at the end of May. He's likely to clear waivers and remain in the organization.

Cubs purchased the contract of OF Brad Snyder from Triple-A Iowa.

Snyder was mashing at Triple-A, putting up a .342/.374/.568 batting line to go along with seven home runs. He'll see the occasional start in the outfield and provide a left-handed bat off the bench.

Cubs re-signed OF Brad Snyder to a minor league contract.

He'll get a spring training invite. Snyder, 28, batted .308/.381/.568 with 25 home runs and 106 RBI with Triple-A Iowa this past season. He earned a promotion to the big leagues in September, but went 5-for-27 (.185) with a 12/1 K/BB ratio. The former top prospect is a notorious all-or-nothing hitter, so there's not much projection left.

Brad Snyder has elected to become a free agent.

Snyder, 28, was sent outright to the Triple-A level last week but refused the assignment and will test free agency instead. He turned in a stellar .308/.381/.568 batting line, 25 home runs and 106 RBI this year for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs and should find some offers on the open market.

Cubs purchased the contract of OF Brad Snyder from Triple-A Iowa.

Snyder, a former 2003 first-round pick of the Indians, batted .308/.381/.568 with 25 home runs and 106 RBI with Triple-A Iowa this season. Now 28 years old, he's no longer considered a prospect, but the call-up is well-deserved.

Triple-A Iowa's Brad Snyder suffered a broken hand on Monday.

It's a tough break for the former prospect, who is out at least four-to-six weeks. Snyder was getting his career back on track the first six weeks of the season with a .317/.351/.669 line highlighted by 12 home runs and 35 RBI in 35 games.
