Jamie Moyer said Monday that he hasn't "closed that door yet" on a possible return to baseball.
"I don’t know when I would make a decision," Moyer said. "I really haven’t put a lot of thought into it. I’m enjoying my time at home at this point." Moyer added that he doesn't "forsee it happening this year." The left-hander will turn 51 in November and posted a 5.70 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 10 starts last season for the Rockies. It goes without saying that him throwing another pitch in the majors is an extreme longshot. Mon, Apr 8, 2013 09:38:00 PM

Jamie Moyer said Wednesday that he is not retired.

Moyer was released by the Blue Jays earlier this month after allowing 10 runs in 11 innings at Triple-A Las Vegas and remains unsigned on the free agent market. He hopes to give it another go at some point. "I’m just kind of laying in the weeds and just trying to figure out what’s going on," said the veteran left-hander. "I’m just going to step back after the season and assess what’s going on, and see how I feel and go from there."

Blue Jays released LHP Jamie Moyer.

Moyer signed a minor league deal with the Jays late last month, but hardly made a case for a promotion to the major league level by allowing 10 runs on 17 hits (including three homers) over 11 innings in two starts with Triple-A Las Vegas. The 49-year-old southpaw has yet to discuss his future plans, but this could be the end for him.

Blue Jays manager John Farrell said the team is still pondering a promotion of Jamie Moyer.

Moyer's minor league deal with the Jays guarantees him only two starts, and he's been shaky in those two outings, posting an 8.18 ERA and 1.81 WHIP. But, with the injuries to the major league rotation, Toronto might decide to give him a shot, anyway. He shouldn't be considered in fantasy leagues if he does receive a promotion.

Jamie Moyer's minor league contract with the Blue Jays only guarantees him two Triple-A starts.

The Jays are hurting badly for starting pitching depth at the major league level, so the 49-year-old left-hander stands a decent chance of actually getting promoted. Moyer just got done posting a 1.69 ERA and 16/0 K/BB ratio in 16 innings with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate.

Blue Jays signed LHP Jamie Moyer to a minor league contract.

Moyer will head to Triple-A Las Vegas to make some tuneup starts. The Blue Jays are really hurting in their rotation, so the opportunity is there, but the 49-year-old southpaw hasn't been given any promises of an eventual call-up.

According to Shannon Drayer of ESPN 710 in Seattle, Jamie Moyer has signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays have yet to make an official announcement, but Drayer hears that he will be with the organization's Triple-A affiliate on Thursday. Moyer recently asked for and was granted his release by the Orioles after posting a 1.69 ERA and 16/0 K/BB ratio in 16 innings with Triple-A Norfolk. It's not a bad spot for Moyer given the rash of injuries in the Blue Jays' rotation, but we're not optimistic about his chances for success in the American League East. The 49-year-old southpaw was knocked around to the tune of a 5.70 ERA in 10 starts with the Rockies earlier this season.

Orioles released LHP Jamie Moyer.

Moyer had the ability to opt out of his contract and was granted his release. He'll attempt to continue his career elsewhere, but remains doubtful to hold any fantasy value.

Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette confirmed that the team has asked Jamie Moyer to make one more start with Triple-A Norfolk.

Moyer, who signed a minor league deal with Baltimore earlier this month, has a 1.69 ERA and 16/0 K/BB ratio in 16 innings over his first three starts with the Tides. Duquette is currently waiting to hear back from Moyer, but Eddie A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun writes that he "didn't sound too optimistic." The 49-year-old left-hander has the ability to opt out of his contract soon, so the O's may be forced to add him to the active roster.

Jamie Moyer can opt out of his minor league deal with the Orioles if not promoted in the next few days.

Moyer has allowed just four runs (three earned) in 16 innings at Triple-A Norfolk since signing that contract. He struggled mightily for the Rockies earlier this season and seems doubtful to fare much better against AL East teams, but the O's may decide to give him a look. The 49-year-old left-hander is in his 25th MLB season.

Jamie Moyer will start for Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

There was some speculation that he could be a candidate to start Saturday for the Orioles, but it turns out he'll get another start or two in the minors before being re-evaluated. The 49-year-old southpaw tossed five shutout innings in his first start with the Tides on Saturday.

Jamie Moyer tossed five shutout innings Saturday in his first outing at Triple-A Norfolk.

Moyer walked only one and struck out five. He signed a minor league contract with the O's earlier this week after being released by the Rockies. Baltimore may be tempted to give him a crack in the majors if the success continues, but the 49-year-old left-hander is doubtful to be very effective.

Orioles signed LHP Jamie Moyer to a minor league contract.

Moyer will make his first start for Triple-A Norfolk Saturday and will get 1-2 more outings before the O's re-evaluate him. Going from Colorado to the AL East isn't exact an ideal situation, but it's possible the O's were the only ones willing to give Moyer a shot. The 49-year-old was released by the Rockies Sunday after posting a 5.70 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over 10 starts, and the odds that he'll ever be fantasy-relevant again are extremely long.

Rockies released LHP Jamie Moyer.

Moyer was designated for assignment last week and is now free to sign on elsewhere. Someone will likely give him a shot if he's willing to pitch in the minors first.

Rockies designated LHP Jamie Moyer for assignment.

The news comes as no surprise. Moyer was shelled for seven runs (four homers) in five innings Sunday against the Reds, ballooning his ERA to 5.70 and his WHIP to 1.73. The 49-year-old southpaw will likely try to latch on with another organization, perhaps as a reliever, but his days as an impact major-league pitcher are most definitely over.
