Lee Stevens, hitting .327 through 49 at-bats for Triple-A Indianapolis, called Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin Friday to inform the Brewers of his plans to retire.

If Stevens is truly done, he leaves the game with a .254 average, 144 homers, and 531 RBI in 3332 career at-bats.

Brewers signed 1B Lee Stevens to a minor league contract.

Stevens will be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis. With John Vander Wal around, there shouldn't ever be any need for Stevens in Milwaukee.

At least one good thing has come as a result of the Travis Lee signing. Stevens may be worthy of a bench spot, but not on the Devil Rays.
