Braves signed OF Josh Anderson to a minor league contract.
Anderson was released by the Brewers last week. The 27-year-old outfielder has a .191/.217/.236 batting line in 89 at-bats between Triple-A Nashville (Brewers) and Triple-A Louisville (Reds) this season. Anderson batted .294/.338/.426 with with three home runs, 12 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 136 at-bats in a previous stint with the Braves during the 2008 season. Anderson, acquired from the Tigers last week, has been with his wife awaiting the arrival of their first child. He should have value in AL-only leagues once active.

According to the Associated Press, Josh Anderson, who was acquired from the Tigers last week, could join the team on Wednesday.

He has been with his wife, awaiting the birth of their first child. Once Anderson arrives, he should be in line for some significant playing time with Jose Guillen on the sidelines. He has some value in AL-only leagues.

"They're expecting the birth of their first child, a little boy I believe, and [Anderson] gets here when he gets here," manager Trey Hillman said Friday. "And when he gets here, we'll utilize him in the outfield. I'd like to see how he does in center, specifically." Anderson should see a decent amount of playing time while Jose Guillen (knee) is sidelined.

The Tigers designated Anderson for assignment last week. He hit just 242/.282/.315 with no home runs and 16 RBI in 165 at-bats with Detroit, but is only 26 and still holds a bit of promise. He should receive a decent amount of playing time while Jose Guillen (knee) is sidelined.

Anderson was designated for assignment last week after hitting .242/.282/.315 with no home runs and 16 RBI in 165 at-bats with the Tigers. At 26, there's still some hope he can have a nice major league career.

The Yankees are interested in acquiring outfielder Josh Anderson from the Tigers, according to Detroit manager Jim Leyland.

"It's a possibility," Leyland said. "They are interested. I think one other club is interested." Anderson was designated for assignment last week after batting .242/.282/.315 with no home runs and 16 RBI in 165 at-bats.

Josh Anderson left Friday's game after being hit in the arm by a Cliff Lee pitch.

The injury was listed as a right tricep contusion. He should be considered day-to-day. Anderson was giving Curtis Granderson the day off, but Granderson had to come in due to the injury. Anderson had notched a two-run single earlier in the game before exiting.

Josh Anderson went 0-for-4 as the Tigers' leadoff man Thursday to drop his OBP to .289.

Anderson was over .400 for much of April, but he's been awful for the last five weeks and he should keep losing more playing time now that the Tigers have Marcus Thames back. He's just a fifth outfielder.

He was also picked off once. Anderson hasn't capitalized on the absences of Carlos Guillen and Marcus Thames as hoped, but unlike Clete Thomas and Ryan Raburn, he's guaranteed to stick around once the Tigers get healthy.
