Free agent Reggie Sanders, who is scheduled to audition for a "Baseball Tonight" gig next week, said he'll decide on his future in baseball by the end of the month.
Sanders said his agent, Mike Powers, has talked to the Padres and Dodgers about a reserve job. The 40-year-old Sanders is expected to play on the West Coast if he chooses to continue his career. Thu, Jan 17, 2008 03:51:00 PM

The San Francisco Chronicle speculates that the A's may be interested in Reggie Sanders and Rondell White.

It only makes sense that the perpetually banged-up A's would go after two of the most injured players in baseball, but both Sanders and White would likely be limited to platoon roles in Oakland. White said earlier this offseason that he was "99 percent" sure that he'd retire after hitting .174 in another injury filled season with the Twins.

Free agent Reggie Sanders is considering retirement unless a West Coast club has a significant role for him.

Sanders would prefer to play in the NL. Perhaps the Padres or Giants would consider him as a fallback if bids for younger outfielders fall short.

Reggie Sanders says if he is going to play on beyond 2007, it will have to be in the right situation.

"It has to be with a winning ballclub," he said, "and on the West Coast." Now 39, Sanders' recent injury woes have been even worse than normal. He played only 88 games last season, and is done for the year this season after suiting up a mere 24 times. Who is going to pay him what he wants with that kind of dependability?

Royals transferred outfielder Reggie Sanders to the 60-day disabled list.

The Royals haven't confirmed it, but it seems unlikely Sanders will be back from a torn hamstring this month. He'd just be a pinch-hitter if he did return.

Royals placed outfielder Reggie Sanders on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 30, with a torn left hamstring.

Sanders could be back in September, but he'd likely have a very limited role. Emil Brown and Joey Gathright will play left field for the Royals.

According to the Kansas City Star, Reggie Sanders "appears headed for another lengthy stay on the disabled list after being diagnosed with another tear in his left hamstring."

Sanders lasted just eight games after missing the first two-plus months of the season. Joey Gathright, who never should have been demoted in the first place, will likely be recalled from Triple-A to take Sanders' place on the roster.

While there was a radio report that said he was traded to the Diamondbacks, Reggie Sanders was included in the Royals' lineup Wednesday.

Mark Grudzielanek wasn't in the lineup, but there's no way he's going to Arizona. Radio reports are like 0-for-30 this year. The Diamondbacks will likely try to do better than Sanders as they seek a hitter, but he could be a fallback.

Asked by the Boston media, Reggie Sanders said Tuesday that he'd welcome a trade to the Red Sox.

"It's a great group of guys over there," Sanders said. "I have never played there, but I have felt like I have just because of the way they embrace everybody. Boston is a great place, it really is. How can you not like it?" Trading for Sanders seems unlikely unless the Red Sox part with Wily Mo Pena, but the Royals are clearly shopping him around.

Royals activated outfielder Reggie Sanders from the 60-day disabled list.

Billy Butler should be locked into the DH spot, so Sanders will share time with Emil Brown in left field for the next couple of weeks. The Royals will probably move one of the two veterans by the deadline.

Reggie Sanders, who has been out since May 2 due to a torn hamstring, expects to return from the disable list on Monday.

Sanders was just transferred to the 60-day disabled list on Friday. He will likely serve as the fourth outfielder until he gets hot or a starter suffers an injury.

Royals transferred outfielder Reggie Sanders from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

Sanders has already missed 60 days, so this changes nothing. He was hoping to return before the All-Star break, but he's still apparently at least a couple of weeks away.

Reggie Sanders (hamstring) had hoped to return this weekend, but that now looks unlikely.

Sanders has been sidelined since suffering a torn hamstring on May 2. "I don't know what's going on," Sanders said. "I really don't. I'm doing all of my stuff. It's just the response I thought I was getting isn't what I thought it was. Even right now, it's aching."

Manager Buddy Bell said Tuesday that Reggie Sanders (hamstring) is at least a week away from returning.

Sanders was placed on the disabled list with a left hamstring tear on May 3 and was initially expected to miss at least a month.
Wed, Jun 13, 2007 09:14:00 AM

Royals placed outfielder Reggie Sanders on the 15-day disbaled list, retroactive to May 3, with a left hamstring tear.

Sanders will miss at least one month and might not be back before the All-Star break. It may actually be bad news for Emil Brown, who is still in a reserve role and now has less chance of being traded to a team that would use him more. The Royals, though, would probably still move Brown if a team would pick up his entire salary.
