Blue Jays released RHP Miguel Batista.

Batista was sporting an 8.36 ERA and 2.04 WHIP through 28 innings at Triple-A Buffalo. The 42-year-old right-hander may try to latch on with a new organization.

Blue Jays signed RHP Miguel Batista to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Batista inked a minor league deal with the Rockies in January but failed to crack their 25-man roster this spring. The 42-year-old right-hander will have to first pitch well at Triple-A to get a shot with Toronto.

Rockies released RHP Miguel Batista.

Batista was predictably awful this spring, posting a 9.00 ERA and 2.71 WHIP over six appearances. The 42-year-old might be able to catch on with a minor league deal somewhere, but he's not going to make any sort of impact in 2013.

Rockies signed RHP Miguel Batista to a minor league contract.

Exact terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but the 41-year-old right-hander will receive an invitation to major league spring training as part of the contract. The Rockies' pitching staff was abysmal in 2012, so Batista stands a decent chance of making the team either as a starter or reliever.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that Miguel Batista has decided to play in 2013, and will make a decision soon on which of four interested teams he will join.

The 18-year MLB veteran is coming off a disappointing 2012 season in which he posted a 4.61 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over 52 2/3 innings between the Mets and Braves. His veteran leadership could play well in a swingman role for teams searching for bullpen depth, but he won't be a factor in fantasy leagues.

Braves purchased the contract of RHP Miguel Batista from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Batista hasn't appeared in the majors since being released by the Mets earlier this season. He'll serve as a long man/sixth starter for the Braves with Ben Sheets (shoulder) on the disabled list.

Braves signed RHP Miguel Batista to a minor league contract.

Batista was released by the Mets this week after posting an ugly 4.82 ERA and 34/31 K/BB ratio over 46 2/3 innings. He's not worthy of a major league roster spot at this point of his career, so he'll serve as organization depth with Triple-A Gwinnett.

David Lennon of Newsday reports that Miguel Batista has signed with the Braves.

It's almost surely a minor league deal. Batista was released by the Mets after posting a 1.80 WHIP in 30 appearances with the Mets. He's unlikely to make any worthwhile appearances for Atlanta in the second half.

Mets released RHP Miguel Batista.

Batista was designated for assignment on Sunday and passed through waivers without drawing much interest from other teams. The 41-year-old righty had an ugly 1.80 WHIP in 30 appearances with New York.

Mets designated RHP Miguel Batista for assignment.

Not surprisingly, Batista was knocked around during a spot start Saturday, and he departs the club with a 4.82 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over 30 appearances. He'll likely clear waivers, and the Mets would like to keep him at Triple-A. Batista has the option of refusing the assignment and declaring free agency, though.

Miguel Batista was chased for four runs over three innings in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.

Batista was pretty terrible, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out two. The Mets went with Batista over prospect right-hander Matt Harvey for Saturday's start, but there's a non-zero chance this was his final appearance with the team. Harvey should be up with the big club soon at the very least.

Miguel Batista will start Saturday against the Dodgers.

There was some thought that the Mets might call up prospect Matt Harvey for the outing, but he'll remain at Triple-A Buffalo. Batista has an underwhelming 3.98 ERA and 1.70 WHIP through 43 innings this season.

Miguel Batista will take the place of Dillon Gee (shoulder) in the starting rotation starting next Wednesday against the Nationals.

The Mets could have arranged their rotation so that they didn't need a fifth starter until July 21, but they have decided against going that route. It's not clear whether this is just a spot start for Batista, as we should know more about Gee's status in the days ahead, but he's not a promising option if the Mets hope to hang around in the playoff race. Jeremy Hefner is a logical alternative for the rotation while prospect right-hander Matt Harvey is knocking on the door for a promotion to the big leagues.

Mets activated RHP Miguel Batista from the 15-day disabled list.

As expected. Batista had a 3.95 ERA and 19/17 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings prior to landing on the DL last month with lower back stiffness. He'll likely be the long man Tuesday if Chris Young has a short start against the Nationals.
