Warner Madrigal - R - Diamondbacks

Yankees signed RHP Warner Madrigal to a minor league contract.

Madrigal posted a decent 3.73 ERA and 0.98 WHIP over 41 innings at the Triple-A level last season, striking out 33 batters while walking only seven. He'll serve as organizational relief depth for the Yanks.

Rangers transferred RHP Warner Madrigal from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list with right forearm tightness.

The Rangers had to clear someone from the 40-man in order to make room for catcher Matt Treanor. Madrigal, 25, has been bothered by right forearm tightness all spring long. He posted a 9.95 ERA over 12 2/3 innings with the big club last season.

Warner Madrigal reported a recurrence of pain in his forearm after Thursday's outing and will be examined by a team doctor on Saturday.

Madrigal surrendered two earned runs in one inning during his spring debut Thursday. The forearm issue may be a little more serious than the Rangers previously thought. Dr. Keith Meister will take a look this weekend.

Uh oh. Tests are sure to follow and will give us all a better idea of how serious the injury could be. Madrigal's elbow tightened up while he was warming up to throw live batting practice. The 25-year-old right-hander had an ugly 9.95 ERA in 12 2/3 innings last season and is fighting for a roster spot.

The Rangers are taking full advantage of September's roster expansion. Madrigal has a 9.31 ERA in 9 2/3 major league innings this season and probably won't be used more than a handful of times down the stretch.

Eaton was recently pulled off his minor league rehab assignment due to renewed discomfort in his elbow. Towers said an MRI showed fluid around his ulnar collateral ligament, but no new damage was found. As of now, he's expected to rest for 2-3 weeks before restarting his rehab program, but he'll get Andrews' opinion just to be on the safe side. May 23

	6	Daniel Hudson D.L. Daniel Hudson (elbow) gave up two runs on five hits over four innings in an extended spring training game on Friday. It's the first time since last year's Tommy John surgery that Hudson has faced hitters wearing a different uniform. The D'Backs says the righty's fastball sat in the 91-93 mph range, which is obviously a good sign. "The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little bit brighter now," Hudson said. Hudson will appear in another extended spring game next week and doesn't appear far off from a rehab assignment. He could be back as soon as late June if all goes well, though the big club doesn't currently have room for him in the rotation. May 19
