The Dodgers cleared a spot on the 40-man roster by moving right-hander Blake Hawksworth to the 60-day disabled list. Wright, 37, has earned a spot in the Dodgers' bullpen by allowing three runs over 9 1/3 innings (2.89 ERA) this spring.

The agreement comes with an invitation to major league spring training, where Wright will attempt to land a spot in the Dodgers' Opening Day bullpen. He registered a decent 3.16 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 48/30 K/BB ratio across 68 1/3 innings of relief last season for the Mariners.

Mariners manager Eric Wedge said that he will use Jamey Wright in a potential save situation Saturday.

Wright hasn't taken over the closer role, but Wedge understandably wants to give the struggling Brandon League a day off to regroup mentally. Still, the veteran right-hander is worth stashing if you're on the search for saves. He has a 1.96 ERA and 13/7 K/BB ratio over his first 18 1/3 innings of work this season.

The contract also includes a minor league contract. The 35-year-old right-hander posted a 4.17 ERA and an underwhelming 28/25 K/BB ratio over 58 1/3 innings between the Indians and Mariners last season. He doesn't miss many bats at all these days, but managed an impressive ground ball rate of 61.2 percent. He'll battle for a spot in middle relief during spring training.
