Raul Ibanez's recent power surge continued Saturday, as he launched a solo homer in a loss to the Indians.
Ibanez had two home runs through his first 19 games this season, but he now has six over his last seven. The 40-year-old shouldn't be owned in shallow mixed leagues, but he might be worth a try in deeper formats while he's hot. May 18 - 4:27 PM

Raul Ibanez remained red hot in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Indians, going 3-for-5 with a two-run homer.

The sixth inning blast off Rich Hill was his seventh of the season, and knotted the game at 3-3. He's now homered five times and driven in 13 runs in his last six games. Despite the recent success however, he's still hitting .235/.278/.541 on the season and remains a spot play at best in most fantasy leagues.

Raul Ibanez hit two home runs and tallied six RBI as the Mariners beat the Yankees 12-2 on Wednesday.

Ibanez broke the game open with a grand slam in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the fifth. The veteran outfielder now has four homers in four games after hitting just two in his first 19 starts. His platoon situation in Seattle and his decreased production doesn't make him an option outside of AL-only leagues, though.
May 15 - 10:29 PM

Raul Ibanez singled and belted a two-run homer off of CC Sabathia in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees.

Zero of Ibanez's 19 home runs last season came off of left-handed pitching, so, naturally, he took one of the best lefties in the game deep in this one. Though he's hitting just .211 for the season, Ibanez has a modest five-game hitting streak going and has homered in two of his last three starts.
May 14 - 10:41 PM

Raul Ibanez hit a three-run homer off Dan Straily in the Mariners' victory Friday.

Ibanez has just 12 hits in 64 at-bats, giving him a .188 average, but at least seven of those 12 hits have gone for extra bases. The Mariners will likely keep him around all year, but hopefully they won't have to give him quite so many starts as time goes by.

Mariners signed OF/DH Raul Ibanez to a one-year, $2.75 million contract.

He could earn an additional $1.25 million in performance-based incentives. The 40-year-old is expected to function as a part-time player between both corner outfield spots, designated hitter and even first base. He still offers some punch against right-handed pitching, but he'll likely miss the short porch at Yankee Stadium.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Mariners have agreed to a one-year, $2.75 million contract with free agent outfielder Raul Ibanez.

The deal also includes $1.25 million in performance-based incentives. Ibanez, who hit .240/.308/.453 with 19 homers and 62 RBI for the Yankees in 2012, is likely to serve as the M's starting left fielder against right-handed pitching and a part-time DH. This will be his third tour of duty with Seattle, where he played from 1996-2000 and again from 2004-2008. He was originally drafted by the M's.

According to George A. King III of the New York Post, the Mariners have "serious interest" in signing Raul Ibanez.

The Yankees have been talking with Ibanez, but have yet to make any progress on a deal. In Seattle, Ibanez would likely be used as the regular DH, with Jesus Montero moving into a full-time role at catcher. The 40-year-old outfielder has also been linked to the Rangers and Phillies so far this offseason.

According to the New York Post, the Yankees have opened contract discussions with Raul Ibanez.

Ibanez, who turns 41 next season, would likely be used strictly at DH if re-signed. In addition to the Yankees, he's received interest from the Rangers, Mariners and Phillies this offseason.

According to George A. King III of the New York Post, the Rangers have expressed interest in Raul Ibanez.

The Yankees were originally considered the favorites to re-sign Ibanez, but they could decide to rotate at the DH position next year after agreeing to deals with Kevin Youkilis and Ichiro Suzuki. In addition to the Rangers, the Mariners have been linked as a landing spot for Ibanez, where he would serve in a platoon role with Jason Bay.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mariners are "pushing for" Raul Ibanez.

Sherman says the M's want to platoon Ibanez with Jason Bay, who was recently signed to a one-year deal. Ibanez slugged .492 against right-handed pitching in 2012.

According to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times, the Mariners have spoken to Raul Ibanez's agent.

It would be Ibanez's third stint in Seattle if they wound up signing him. The 40-year-old slugged .492 against right-handed pitching in 2012 and probably piqued the interest of a few more clubs with his playoff exploits. The Yankees would like to bring him back.

Dan Martin of the New York Post reports that the Yankees have had "preliminary discussions" with Raul Ibanez about returning in a platoon role.

Ibanez hit 19 homers and slugged .492 against right-handed pitching this season, so he's still a useful player if used correctly. If re-signed, he would be used as a DH against righties again while also seeing occasional time in the outfield. Ibanez will turn 41 next June.

Raul Ibanez struck again in Game 1 of the ALCS on Saturday night, smashing a game-tying two-run homer off Jose Valverde with two outs in the ninth inning.

Ibanez finished 2-for-5 with a double and that critical blast. The Yankees trailed 4-0 entering the ninth inning but inched closer when Ichiro Suzuki hit a two-run homer off Valverde. After Mark Teixeira battled back from an 0-2 count to draw a two-out walk, the stage was set for Ibanez. He’s hitting an absurd 6-for-14 (.429) with three homers and five RBI in the postseason. The Yankees would eventually lose in the 12th.

Raul Ibanez hit a game-tying, pinch-hit solo homer in the ninth and a walk-off solo homer in the 12th in Wednesday's extra innings ALDS Game 3 win over the Orioles.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi chose to pinch-hit Ibanez for the struggling Alex Rodriguez, and the 40-year-old became the first player in postseason history to homer twice in a game he didn't start. Ibanez's first longball came off O's closer Jim Johnson, and his second was against lefty Brian Matusz, who was one of Baltimore's best relievers down the stretch. The dinger off of Matusz was particularly surprising, as Ibanez hit .197 with zero home runs in 65 plate appearances against southpaws during the regular season. The O's are starting lefty Joe Saunders in Game 4, but Ibanez is batting .348 with two homers against the southpaw, so Girardi could stick him in the lineup.
