Braves placed utilityman Greg Norton on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Norton suffered the injury Wednesday night. He shouldn't require more than the allotted 15 days, but a little extra time in Triple-A couldn't hurt. He's batting just .075/.275/.146 with no home runs and 10 strikeouts in 41 at-bats this season.

Greg Norton's deal with the Braves is worth $800,000 and includes an additional $300,000 in bonuses.

Hopefully, he doesn't reach the bonuses, which are likely keyed to him getting semi-regular at-bats. Norton was one of the game's best pinch-hitters last season, but he'd be a weak choice in an expanded role.

Braves re-signed infielder-outfielder Greg Norton to a one-year contract.

No terms yet, but Norton likely gets less than a million bucks after hitting .246/.361/.427 as a part-time player last season. He'll be used primarily off the bench.

The Braves could be looking to come to a quick accord with free-agent reserve Greg Norton.

Talks between the two sides have already taken place, and it's possible a one-year deal will be struck soon. Norton hit .246/.361/.427 in 171 at-bats for the Braves. At .316 with three homers and 18 RBI in 57 at-bats, he was one of the game's best pinch-hitters last season.

Greg Norton hit a pinch-hit, go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning against the Mets on Sunday.

Reliever Luis Ayala gave up two singles to start the ninth and then Norton's three-run blast as the Braves took a 5-4 lead. Pedro Feliciano followed and was charged with two more runs before the Mets finally got out of the inning. Norton's blast made a winner out of reliever Jorge Julio, and Mike Gonzalez pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth for a save.

Greg Norton was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to a stiff left shoulder.

Norton, who is supposed to be filling in for Casey Kotchman, was replaced at first base by Martin Prado.

An MRI on Greg Norton's left knee came up negative and he could be ready to play Saturday.

Norton was scratched Thursday with a "twisted knee," but was able to pinch-hit in the 10th inning Friday night. He struck out.

Greg Norton entered Friday's game in the 10th inning and struck out in his only at-bat.

Norton didn't start either yesterday or today because of a minor knee injury. He could play left field on Saturday.

Greg Norton didn't play Thursday because of a minor left knee injury.

Norton was going to start in left field, but since he couldn't go, Josh Anderson was in the lineup for a second straight day and the rookie ended up with a triple and a walk. He could earn more time at Norton's expense.

Greg Norton put the Braves in front of the Marlins with a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday night in a 5-4 Atlanta victory.

Chipper Jones hit a three-run homer in the first inning, but a pair of Dan Uggla home runs put the Marlins on top 4-3 before Norton's big hit in the eighth. The Braves bullpen worked five scoreless innings to keep the deficit at one run and set the stage for the comeback.

Braves acquired first baseman-outfielder Greg Norton from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Norton, who was designated for assignment by the Mariners last month, will serve primarily as a pinch-hitter for Atlanta, giving him no fantasy value.

Mariners designated infielder Greg Norton for assignment.

Norton gets dumped despite going 7-for-16 with four RBI during his time with the Mariners. Miguel Cairo, who is 0-for-5 after four weeks, gets to keep his spot.

The Mariners have reportedly designated Greg Norton for assignment.

Norton finished 7-for-16 in his two weeks since getting called up, but the Mariners needed his roster space for the promotion of Jeff Clement. Jose Vidro will stick as a backup, and Norton will likely clear waivers.

Getting the start over Jose Vidro at DH, Greg Norton went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI against the A's on Saturday.

Norton is 6-for-12 since being called up on April 11. He's surely a weak option at DH, but the Mariners might as well give him more time over the slumping Vidro if they're not willing to call up Jeff Clement.
