Mets released outfielder Emil Brown.
Brown was batting .256 with two homers and 13 RBI with Triple-A Buffalo. He was 1-for-5 in three games with the big club this season. Even with all the injuries on the Mets roster, they were looking towards other solutions, so it's very possible that the veteran requested his release. Tue, Jul 21, 2009 01:44:00 PM

Mets designated outfielder Emil Brown for assignment.

Brown spent exactly three days in the major leagues, going 1-for-5 with no RBI and no runs scored. He's likely to land back on Triple-A Buffalo's roster.

Emil Brown will start in right field and bat second against the Nationals on Saturday night.

Brown is 0-for-1 with a walk since being called up from Triple-A Buffalo. And just for kicks, Wilson Valdez gets the call at shortstop with Fernando Tatis drawing the start at first. The Mets organization has depth to be envied by all independent baseball teams.

Mets purchased the contract of outfielder Emil Brown from Triple-A Buffalo.

Brown will take Ramon Martinez's roster spot. While it's OK to put him on your watch list, Brown isn't likely to get enough at-bats to be an asset in NL-only leagues. Temper you fantasy expectations as he's set to play a fifth outfielder role.

The Mets are expected to place Ramon Martinez on the disabled list and call up Emil Brown on Wednesday.

Martinez suffered a dislocated pinkie finger on Tuesday. Brown becomes a player to watch in NL-only leagues, but there probably won't be enough at-bats available for him to make a fantasy impact initially.

Mets acquired OF Emil Brown from the Padres for a player to be named later.

Brown, 34, becomes outfield depth for the Mets. Considering the injuries that have already befallen the Mets, such acquisitions make a lot of sense. Keep Brown in mind if the Mets promote him, since he has a bit of pop. Citi Field won't accentuate this, of course.

Padres reassigned OF Emil Brown, C Eliezer Alfonzo, RHP Greg Burke and 1B Kyle Blanks to minor league camp; optioned OF Drew Macias to Triple-A Portland.

Brown knew going in that he was only going to make the Padres if injuries struck. He hit .222/.340/.444 in 45 at-bats this spring. Since the Padres are more likely to go to Will Venable or Macias if a spot opens up later this year, Brown may elect for free agency.

Emil Brown went 2-for-3 and hit a three-run homer off Jeff Suppan in the Padres' 4-3 win over the Brewers on Monday.

Brown, a late addition to Padres camp, is 3-for-8 and has a double to go along with the homer. He's a long shot to make the Padres, but someone will want him if he turns in a strong spring.

Padres signed outfielder Emil Brown to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Brown had a lot of trouble finding work after finishing at .244/.297/.386 for the A's last season. He still hits lefties pretty well, so he could be of use if strictly kept in a reserve role. However, the Padres may not carry him. Unless they choose to keep just one reserve infielder, it's hard to see the team finding room for Brown along with fourth outfielder Scott Hairston and pinch-hitter Cliff Floyd.

Emil Brown went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in Oakland's 6-5 win over the Angels on Wednesday.

The A's scored six times off Joe Saunders in the first two innings and then held on for dear life. Brown had his first three-RBI game in two months. He had 25 RBI through the end of April and then 12 more in May, but he has just 21 in the nearly three months since.

Emil Brown went 1-for-2 with a solo homer as the Athletics fell to the Rays on Wednesday.

Brown also had a sacrifice fly, giving him two RBI on the night. Brown was tallying RBI like crazy to start the year, but that was largely due to some unusual success with RISP. Today's RBI give him just 12 since the beginning of June. Carlos Gonzalez also homered for the A's, his third shot of the season.

Emil Brown hit a walk-off homer as the Athletics defeated the Mariners on Thursday afternoon.

The A's were held scoreless for the first eight innings of the game, but Jack Cust and Kurt Suzuki each hit a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extras, and hang Brandon Morrow with his first blown save. After Houston Street pitched his second scoreless inning, Brown led off the bottom of the tenth with a solo shot of his own for the win. Brown had 29 RBI halfway through April, thanks mostly to an outlandish average with RISP, but this was just his 16th ribbie since.

Emil Brown returned to action on Friday and struck out with the bases loaded as a pinch-hitter.

Brown has been limited by an illness throughout the week. With the Giants throwing righties the next two days, Brown might not be in the lineup at all this weekend.

Emil Brown was unavailable Wednesday for the second straight game because of an illness.

"I don't know what it was, but I need to get my strength back," Brown said. With Travis Buck and Carlos Gonzalez now getting regular playing time and Ryan Sweeney due back from the disabled list Friday, Brown figures to see most of his action against left-handers.
