Pirates released RHP Jaret Wright.
Wright would have been a free agent come Thursday if not added to the team's 40-man roster, and was always a bit of a long shot to make the team. He currently sports a 3.38 ERA after eight innings, but has four walks to just one strike out. He'll likely catch on somewhere. Wed, Mar 26, 2008 10:19:00 AM

Jaret Wright gave up his first two runs of the spring in an inning of relief Saturday against the Twins.

Wright pitched scoreless innings in his first two appearances. He's a long shot to make the Pirates as a middle reliever, but that he hasn't had any physical problems so far this spring is a good sign.

Pirates signed RHP Jaret Wright to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Wright is a long shot to help the Pirates, but there's no harm in taking a flier on him. The 32-year-old missed most of 2007 with shoulder troubles, and there's no guarantee that he'll be any healthier this year. He could start off in Triple-A and hope that a rotation spot opens up.

The Orioles are expected to release RHP Jaret Wright this week.

Wright, who was acquired from the Yankees in November for reliever Chris Britton, went 0-3 with a 6.97 ERA in three starts before going on the disabled list in late April with a strained shoulder.

Jaret Wright, who was hoping to return from his shoulder woes and pitch as a reliever this month, has left the Orioles and gone home to California.

It sounds like he'll try again next year, but there's no telling whether he'll ever contribute to a major league team again.

Jaret Wright (shoulder) tossed a perfect inning in a rehab assignment for Double-A Bowie Monday.

Unfortunately, that's Bowie's final game of the year, so any further game action will have to come with the O's. Asked if Wright will be added to the roster, Manager Dave Trembley hedged his bets: "I'm not sure about that," Trembley said. "That's yet to be determined. That's a decision that's made by more than just myself." Wright is expected to pitch out of the bullpen if he does return.

In his second rehabilitation start, Jaret Wright (shoulder) allowed one run on three hits in one inning for Double-A Bowie on Friday.

Wright is hoping to return sometime this month, but probably will be limited to the bullpen when he does. He's been sidelined since April 29 because of a sore shoulder.

Jaret Wright, who hasn't pitched since April 29 because of a sore shoulder, is scheduled to throw one-inning Sunday at Double-A Bowie.

Wright threw a bullpen session on Friday and could be activated in early September when the rosters expand. He'll likely pitch in relief when he returns.

Jaret Wright (shoulder) said Sunday that he hopes to pitch for the Orioles in September.

Back in June Wright's father told reporters that his son was "finished" pitching, but Wright threw three pain-free mound sessions last week and completed a bullpen session Monday. "You don't know what's going to happen, but you have to give yourself a shot, and I think that's what I've done to be here right now," Wright said. "Just try to play the last month, I think, is what we're trying to do. I'm sure we'll get a better idea after today when I sit down with those guys. I don't know what's going to happen."

Orioles transferred RHP Jaret Wright from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.

Wright's status for the rest of the season remains uncertain. He's missed a month and a half with a sore shoulder.

Despite his father telling reporters last month that he's "finished" pitching, Jaret Wright (shoulder) continues to rehab in an attempt to pitch again.

Wright said Thursday that he hopes to begin throwing in four weeks. "The way I look at it, I'm doing everything I can do to pitch again," Wright said. "I really can't sit here and say I'm confident I'll throw again. I don't think anybody knows that. But I'm doing everything I can to throw again. I still want to play really badly. As far as motivation, you have the whole rest of your life to be at home and hang out with the family. It's not that you don't like it, but being on borrowed time with how long your career goes, you want to get everything you can out of it."

Former major league pitcher Clyde Wright told reporters Thursday that his son, Jaret Wright, "might be finished because of shoulder problems."

Wright is currently on the disabled list and may need season-ending surgery.
