Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports that the Orioles are not expected to sign free agent infielder Fernando Tatis.
Tatis, 38, worked out for the O's last week in the Dominican Republic. He hasn't played in the majors since the 2010 season, where he suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder that ended his season. His career in MLB might be over. Fri, Feb 1, 2013 07:53:00 PM

Fernando Tatis worked out for the Orioles last week in the Dominican Republic.

Tatis is now 38 and hasn't played in the majors since 2010, when his season ended following surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The odds of him garnering a minor league deal aren't high.

Mets transferred infielder Fernando Tatis from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Tatis underwent surgery Thursday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He was batting just .185/.254/.338 in 65 at-bats before the Mets placed him on the disabled list and he could have trouble resurfacing.

Mets placed INF-OF Fernando Tatis on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder sprain.

More specifically, it is a sprain of the AC joint. Tatis, 35, is batting just .185/.254/.338 with two home runs and six RBI in 65 at-bats this season. Based on how little he has been used until this point, the Mets probably won't miss him too much.

Fernando Tatis will miss the next couple of games due to a sore left knee.

"Not a big deal," said Tatis. If anything, the injury will give Mets skipper Jerry Manuel more time to evaluate Mike Jacobs and top prospect Ike Davis.

Mets signed IF-OF Fernando Tatis to a one-year contract.

Terms of the contract weren't released, but he could earn up to $1.5 million with incentives, close to the salary he made last season. Tatis, 35, has batted .289/.352/.458 with an 811 OPS over the past two seasons with New York, and though the choice is uninspiring, he figures to be the right-handed part of a platoon with Daniel Murphy at first base.

Mike Puma of the New York Post confirms that infielder Fernando Tatis will be rejoining the Mets on a one-year contract.

SI.com's Jon Heyman first reported the news Thursday evening. Tatis, 35, has posted an .811 OPS during his last two years with the Mets and will serve in a platoon at first base with Daniel Murphy this season. Carlos Delgado, it appears, will have to find a job elsewhere for 2010.

Jon Heyman of SI.com writes that Fernando Tatis will be rejoining the Mets.

This isn't confirmation of a deal as much as it is an assumption of one getting done. Tatis, 35, has batted .289/.352/.458 with an 811 OPS over the past two seasons with New York and should be the right-handed part of a first base platoon with Daniel Murphy. It's less than desirable, but remember that the Mets believe Ike Davis isn't far away from making an impact in the majors. Heyman adds that Carlos Delgado will now have to seek employment elsewhere and that scouts view him as a designated hitter.

The Mets are on the cusp of signing Fernando Tatis, reports Mike Puma of the New York Post.

Tatis would platoon with Daniel Murphy at first base. Settling for a Murphy/Tatis platoon is curious, but these are the Mets. He will offer near zero fantasy value.

The Mets may turn back to Fernando Tatis to fill their hole at first base, according to the New York Post's Mike Puma.

The Mets were unimpressed with Carlos Delgado when they scouted him in the Dominican Republic last week and are nearing scramble mode. Tatis, who hit .282 last season with a .339 on-base percentage and a .438 slugging percentage, could platoon with Daniel Murphy at first base. It's not an ideal scenario, but it may be better than wasting time with an unhealthy Delgado.

The Rockies and Mariners are talking to Fernando Tatis about a contract, reports MLB.com's Thomas Harding.

Tatis' agent, Gary Goodman, said the Rockies expressed interest but are still evaluating their 2010 roster. Tatis hit .282 with a .438 slugging percentage over 340 at-bats. Colorado have also been linked to right-handed, versatile bench names such as Robb Quinlan and Melvin Mora.

Fernando Tatis finished 2-for-4 with two RBI as the Mets defeated the Astros on Saturday afternoon.

Tatis drove in two runs on a single in the bottom of the fifth inning, adding insurance to the rain-soaked victory. He was filling in for David Wright, who was given the day off.

Fernando Tatis appeared as a pinch-hitter Wednesday and flied out.

Tatis hadn't played since injuring his finger during Sunday night's game.

Fernando Tatis left Sunday night's game against the Phillies with a sprained left index finger.

He's likely day-to-day, but given that he's a Met, we wouldn't want to put money on it. Jeremy Reed took his spot in left field.

Fernando Tatis delivered a pinch-hit grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning on Monday night, lifting the Mets to a 7-3 victory over the Rockies.

With the score tied at three, Juan Rincon loaded the bases with three walks (the last one intentional) before Franklin Morales came in and served up the big blast. Tatis is hitting just .243 but has shown the ability to deliver some pop off the bench.
