Reds released RHP Kerry Ligtenberg.
It appears they wanted to give him a chance to catch on elsewhere. Ligtenberg had allowed one run and four hits in 5 1/3 innings this spring. The 35-year-old may elect to retire rather than spend another year in Triple-A. Fri, Mar 16, 2007 01:39:00 PM

Reds signed RHP Kerry Ligtenberg to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Ligtenberg had a 3.57 ERA and 18 saves for Triple-A Iowa last season. The 35-year-old last pitched in the majors with the Diamondbacks in 2005 and had a 13.97 ERA in 9 2/3 innings. He shouldn't make the Reds.

Kerry Ligtenberg pitched two scoreless innings Monday in his second appearance for Triple-A Iowa.

Ligtenberg, who was let go by the Marlins even though he opened his spring with 8 2/3 scoreless innings, might be a candidate for the Cub pen later on.

Marlins released RHP Kerry Ligtenberg.

A victim of the Todd Wellemeyer acquisition, apparently. Ligtenberg had pitched 8 2/3 scoreless innings before giving up three runs his last time out. That success should guarantee that he's not a free agent for long.

If Kerry Ligtenberg is not added to the 25-man roster by Wednesday, he will reportedly exercise a clause in his contract that allows him to become a free agent.

That'll speed up Floria's process for choosing the pitching staff, although Ligtenberg seems likely to make the team anyway.

Kerry Ligtenberg extended his scoreless streak to 8 2/3 innings by getting five outs today.

Ligtenberg has allowed just four hits. He could be a candidate for saves in the Florida pen, though we're guessing he's going to serve as a setup man for Joe Borowski initially.

Kerry Ligtenberg extended his streak of scoreless spring innings to five while pitching the fifth today against the Dodgers.

Ligtenberg is probably going to enter the season as one of the Marlins' late-inning relievers. We're skeptical that he'll be a candidate for saves at any point.

Kerry Ligtenberg resumed playing catch today. He's expected to throw off a mound on Sunday.

Ligtenberg tweaked his elbow while lifting weights before spring training started. As a precaution, he had an MRI exam taken, and he was taking anti-inflammatory medication.

Kerry Ligtenberg had an MRI on his right elbow and left knee, but he's expected to resume throwing in a couple of days.

Not exactly a good sign. Ligtenberg is in Marlins camp as a non-roster player. If healthy, he could make the team as a middle reliever or setup man.

Marlins signed RHP Kerry Ligtenberg to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Despite his 13.97 ERA in 9 2/3 innings for the Diamondbacks last season, Ligtenberg is a good bet to have a spot in Florida's pen. He'll earn $600,000 if he makes the team.

Kerry Ligtenberg has reportedly agreed to terms with the Marlins on a minor league contract.

He'd earn $600,000 if he makes the club. Ligtenberg had a 13.97 ERA in 9 2/3 innings for the Diamondbacks last season.

Diamondbacks designated RHP Kerry Ligtenberg for assignment

Ligtenberg had a 13.97 ERA in 9 2/3 innings for the Diamondbacks. He'll probably return to Triple-A Tucson after he clears waivers.
Sat, Jun 4, 2005 08:44:00 PM

Kerry Ligtenberg gave up seven runs and seven hits in the ninth inning today against the Pirates.

Ligtenberg probably can't afford any additional bad outings in the next couple of weeks if he wants to keep his roster spot.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of RHP Kerry Ligtenberg from Triple-A Tucson.

Ligtenberg had a 2.38 ERA in seven games since joining Tucson. He'll pitch in middle relief. ''I really needed someone I would consider a long guy,'' manager Bob Melvin said.
