Miguel Tejada's first homer since July 16, 2011 was a three-run shot off the Astros' Dallas Keuchel on Monday.
Tejada has started just seven games this season, even though the Royals have gotten terrible production at third base, second base and first base. What's the harm in giving him an expanded role for a bit? For what it's worth, he's gone 9-for-27 with six RBI in his limited action. May 20 - 11:40 PM

Miguel Tejada has yet to report to Royals' camp due to illness.

Tejada was prepared to board a plane in his native Dominican Republic Thursday before falling ill. The Royals instructed him to stay at home and attempt to report to camp Saturday if he feels better. The illness won't affect Tejada's bid for an Opening Day roster spot.

Dave Skretta of the Associated Press reports that the Royals have signed free agent Miguel Tejada.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman adds that it's a minor league deal with a spring training invite. Tejada, 38, did not appear in the majors in 2012 and hit just .239/.270/.326 in 343 plate appearances with the Giants in 2011. He'll have to battle for a spot on Kansas City's Opening Day roster and is doubtful to become fantasy-relevant.

ESPN.com's Jayson Stark reports that the Marlins have been "checking out" Miguel Tejada in the Dominican Winter League.

The Marlins are looking to acquire a third baseman with just Greg Dobbs and Kevin Kouzmanoff on their active roster. Tejada, 38, didn't appear at the major league level last season, but could be considered for a spring training invite. Stark adds that the Marlins have also "kicked the tires" on free agents Placido Polanco and Brandon Inge.

Miguel Tejada will play with Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Winter League.

Tejada was released by the Orioles at his request in June after batting .260 with four doubles, zero homers and a .617 OPS over 147 plate appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. It's not clear whether the 38-year-old will attempt to get a spring training invite somewhere.

Orioles released INF Miguel Tejada.

The O's released Tejada at his request. The 38-year-old signed a minor league deal with Baltimore in early May and batted just .260 with four doubles, zero homers and a .617 OPS over 147 plate appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. This could be the end of the road for him.

Miguel Tejada is hitting .270 with a .625 OPS in 24 games with Triple-A Norfolk.

Tejada has just two extra-base hits (both doubles) in 99 plate appearances and is 2-for-20 over his last five games. The 38-year-old is hardly knocking on the door for a promotion to the big league roster.

Tejada had been at extended spring training in Sarasota, Florida. He'll likely begin playing in games Sunday, and could be ready to join the Orioles in a utility role before the end of the month.

Orioles signed INF Miguel Tejada to a minor league contract.

The deal was agreed to last week, then finalized after Tejada passed his customary pre-signing physical on Monday morning. He even played in an extended spring training game at the Orioles' complex in Sarasota, Florida on Tuesday afternoon. The veteran infielder will eventually report to Triple-A Norfolk and should be promoted to Baltimore at some point this summer.

Miguel Tejada has passed his physical with the Orioles and is expected to officially sign a minor league contract Tuesday.

He'll first start working out at the team's spring training complex before likely joining Triple-A Norfolk. Assuming all goes well, he could be ready to join the O's in a utility role before the end of the month.

MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli reports the Orioles plan to sign free agent 3B/SS Miguel Tejada if he can pass a Monday physical.

Giddy up. Tejada received scant interest over the winter after posting a .239/.270/.326 triple slash with the Giants last season, but the Orioles must be getting impatient with their thus far inept third base duo of Mark Reynolds and Wilson Betemit. According to Ghiroli, Tejada would spend the "foreseeable future" in extended spring training if he passes his physical.

Miguel Tejada told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle that he wants to return to the Athletics.

The A's recently lost third baseman Scott Sizemore (knee) for the season, so Tejada is hoping general manager Billy Beane will consider giving him a minor league deal. "I would love it," said Tejada. "Tell Billy to give me a call. I don’t want big money. I just want to play." Tejada said he has become good friends with Yoenis Cespedes and believes the Cuban outfielder would benefit with him around. Tejada, who turns 38 in May, batted just .239/.270/.326 with four homers and a .596 OPS over 343 plate appearances with the Giants last season before being released in September. It's probably a long shot since the A's appear committed to giving Josh Donaldson the first crack at third base, but some extra depth wouldn't necessarily hurt, especially if Tejada is willing to begin the season in the minors.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Miguel Tejada is working out in Miami with renowned trainer Pete Bommarito in hopes of finding a job.

Tejada, who turns 38 in May, batted just .239/.270/.326 with four homers and a .596 OPS over 343 plate appearances with the Giants last season before being released in September. He can't play shortstop anymore and has a .660 OPS over the past two seasons, so a spring training invite might be the best-case scenario at this point.
