Scott Elarton allowed just one hit -- a Chris Davis homer -- over four innings in relief against the Orioles on Saturday.

Elarton struck out four and walked none in another fine outing. Coming back after a year off in 2011, he's retired 18 of the 19 hitters he's faced to date.

Scott Elarton, who last pitched in the majors in 2008, retired all six Yankees he faced on Monday.

A successful Elarton comeback would be a nice story, and he looked pretty good today. It's hard to imagine him winning a spot on the crowded Phillies staff, but if he proves himself in Triple-A in April and May, someone may give him a shot.

Phillies signed RHP Scott Elarton to a minor league contract.

The contract includes an invite to spring training. Elarton, who turns 36 in February, hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2008 as a member of the Indians. He last pitched professionally in 2010 when he posted an 8.24 ERA and 13/8 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings with Triple-A Charlotte in the White Sox organization. He's a longshot to make a major impact.

White Sox signed RHP Scott Elarton to a minor league contract.

The 34-year-old right-hander has not pitched in a major league game since 2008, when he rattled off a 3.52 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 15 1/3 innings with Cleveland. He's not likely to have an impact this season.

Indians purchased the contract of RHP Scott Elarton from Triple-A Buffalo.

Elarton was looked at only as a reliever this spring, and he had remained in the pen in Triple-A, compiling a 2.45 ERA in 25 2/3 innings. If he can keep it up in middle relief in the majors, he could yet salvage his career.

Indians signed RHP Scott Elarton to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Elarton posted a hideous 10.46 ERA in 37 innings with the Royals last season and hasn't been effective since 2005. He's a long shot to make the Opening Day roster.

Free agent Scott Elarton has been throwing in Colorado and could re-sign with the Indians.

Elarton signed a minor league deal with Cleveland in August, but he didn't make it back to the majors after being released by the Royals. He'd be better off taking his chances in the National League.

Indians signed RHP Scott Elarton to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Elarton is nothing more than minor league filler at this point.

Royals released RHP Scott Elarton.

The Royals couldn't have handled this any worse. They knew exactly what would happen when they threw Elarton to the wolves last night. The right move would have been to release him six weeks ago when it was obvious that he had nothing left. He ended up with a 10.46 ERA in his nine starts for the club. John Thomson might be an option to take his place in the rotation next week. If he's not ready, they could go back to Leo Nunez.

Scott Elarton was pounded by the Yankees for six hits and seven runs in just 1 2/3 innings Tuesday in his first start since coming off the DL.

That's about what we expected considering how poorly Elarton looked during his rehab assignment. He walked two, struck out none, hit one batter and saw his ERA soar to 10.46 as he absorbed his fourth loss of the season. How long can the Royals keep trotting Elarton out there?
