Phillies signed LHP David Purcey to a minor league contract.

He'll also get an invite to spring training. Purcey, 29, posted an ugly 5.61 ERA and 22/27 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings this season between the Tigers, Athletics and Blue Jays. He'll likely serve as bullpen depth at the Triple-A level.

TIgers sent LHP David Purcey outright to Triple-A Toledo.

Purcey cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 29-year-old southpaw has a 5.61 ERA and 22/27 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings between the Tigers, Athletics and Blue Jays this season.

Purcey, a 29-year-old southpaw, posted a 5.61 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 33 relief appearances for Detroit. He's likely to pass through waivers and land at Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers placed LHP David Purcey on the paternity-leave list.

Purcey has been getting hit curiously hard by left-handed hitters this season while shutting down righties. His absence shouldn't last for more than two or three days.

Tigers acquired LHP David Purcey from the Athletics for 2B Scott Sizemore.

Purcey was just acquired from the Blue Jays last month. The 29-year-old southpaw has a 3.60 ERA and 10/7 K/BB ratio over 15 innings this season. The 2004 first-round pick was effective out of the bullpen last season, as well, but it's a wonder why the Tigers were so willing to give up on someone who still has a chance to be a legitimate regular in the big leagues.

Athletics acquired LHP David Purcey from the Blue Jays for RHP Danny Farquhar.

Toronto designated Purcey for assignment last week and got trade offers from several teams before deciding on a deal with Oakland. The 28-year-old has good raw stuff, but he has struggled with command issues throughout his career. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good. Purcey will operate in middle relief.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Blue Jays have traded David Purcey to the A's for Danny Farquhar.

It's a swap of relievers. Purcey, 28, was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last week and drew interest from many teams around the league. Farquhar, 24, registered a 3.52 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 76-plus innings last season at Double-A and had climbed his way to the Triple-A level this year with the Athletics.

The Orioles have had internal discussions regarding David Purcey.

It's unclear as to their level of interest. He would make some sense, as Mike Gonzalez is the only left in the O's bullpen right now, and he's been struggling. The Astros are another team that's known to have some level of interest in Purcey, who was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays this past week.

Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun reports that the Astros have interest in David Purcey.

Purcey was designated for assignment Tuesday, so the Blue Jays have 10 days to trade, release or place him on waivers. Fernando Abad is the lone lefty in Houston's bullpen at the moment, so he could make some sense there.

Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos thinks he'll be able to trade David Purcey, who was designated for assignment Tuesday.

We think he'll be able to, as well. The Jays have 10 days to trade, release or place Purcey on waivers. Though he's prone to wildness, Purcey is just 28 and has pretty decent stuff. Someone should be willing to take a flier on him as a lefty reliever or possibly even give him another chance to start.

Blue Jays designated LHP David Purcey for assignment.

Purcey pays the price for opening the door on the Mariners' big comeback Monday night. The 28-year-old left-hander posted a 3.71 ERA and 32/15 K/BB ratio over 34 innings last season and could draw some interest in a middle relief role.
Tue, Apr 12, 2011 04:21:00 PM

Blue Jays activated RHP David Purcey from the 15-day disabled list.

Purcey allowed four runs over his first two appearances with Double-A New Hampshire, but closed out his rehab stint with a scoreless inning on Sunday. The 28-year-old southpaw returns to a 2.81 ERA and 22/10 K/BB ratio over 25 2/3 innings this season. Purcey has been sidelined since August 12 due to strained ligaments in his right foot.
