Scott Williamson was tagged for five runs in an inning by the Mets on Wednesday.

Williamson had bounced back well from a six-run shelling at the hands on the Yankees on March 8, throwing six scoreless innings to put himself back in the mix for a bullpen spot. Now he again appears to be on the outside looking in.

Scott Williamson was lit up by the Yankees on Saturday, allowing six runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Williamson had pitched two scoreless innings this spring, but his margin for error is pretty slim as he attempts to win a bullpen spot. One more bad outing may take him completely out of the mix.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers are close to signing Scott Williamson to a minor league contract.

The oft-injured Williamson looked like an intriguing, high-upside rehab project for years, but hasn't pitched more than 30 innings with an ERA under 5.00 since 2003 and turns 33 years old next month.

Giants released RHP Scott Williamson.

Williamson failed to impress in his two appearances, allowing three runs in two innings. He'll have to go back to Triple-A for a while before he gets another chance. With his stuff having diminished and his command as spotty as ever, he doesn't seem like a great bet.

Giants signed RHP Scott Williamson to a minor-league deal and invited him to spring training.

Not a bad gamble for the Giants, who add the 32-year-old Williamson at almost no risk. If he stays healthy, which is a huge "if," he would add some very affordable depth to the bullpen.

Yankees released RHP Scott Williamson from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Williamson coughed up four runs in 3 2/3 innings for the Yankees' Triple-A team and will likely latch on somewhere else to continue his comeback.

Scott Williamson gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning Wednesday in his debut for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

After Joba Chamberlain shut Louisville down for five innings, Williamson came in and gave up a three-run homer to Jay Bruce. Williamson threw 28 pitches, 16 for strikes.

Yankees signed RHP Scott Williamson to a minor league contract.

Talk about a bad match. On the off chance that Williamson gets a chance and turns in a couple of good weeks, Joe Torre's eagerness to overuse his best relievers will have him back on the DL in no time. Besides, Chris Britton deserves the next real opportunity if the Yankees want to introduce someone new to their pen. It's not a bad signing, but it's just not likely to work out.

Orioles designated RHP Scott Williamson for assignment.

The Orioles seemed almost afraid to use Williamson, though his 4.40 ERA in 14 1/3 innings made him one of the team's most effective relievers. He's only due $450,000 over the rest of the season, so maybe they'll get a minor prospect for him before they'd have to release him.

Scott Williamson said Tuesday that he's available to pitch out of the bullpen after being hit on the foot by a line drive Friday.

Williamson threw before Tuesday's game and pronounced himself ready to go.

Scott Williamson underwent X-rays Friday night after being hit on the inside of his left foot by a line drive by Chone Figgins.

The X-rays showed no break, and manager Dave Trembley said he thought the injury would be a day-to-day matter. Williamson said he would pursue a second opinion before returning to the mound.

Scott Williamson has yet to pitch since the Orioles activated him from the disabled list last Sunday.

"You'd obviously like to get in there and pitch, but I got activated and we played Boston and [Jeremy] Guthrie threw the game he did, and we go to Toronto and the next two [games], our starters pretty much went the distance." The extra rest is definitely beneficial to Williamson's sore triceps.

Williamson gave up one run in five innings last month before going on the DL with right triceps tendon tightness.
