Indians sent outfielder Jeff Liefer outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Liefer hit .196 with a 15/1 K/BB ratio in 56 at-bats for the Indians. He's just a Triple-A slugger.

Jeff Liefer hit a grand slam off D.J. Carrasco in the seventh innings tonight to give the Indians all their runs in a win over the Royals.

This is really bad news for Ben Broussard. Liefer was already taking playing time away from Broussard despite his lack of production. Even after tonight, he's at .227 with 11 strikeouts and one walk in 44 at-bats. It's unlikely that either Liefer or Broussard will start against lefty Mark Hendrickson tomorrow.

Jeff Liefer got the start over Ben Broussard at first base today and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Tigers.

Meanwhile, Jason Dubois and Ryan Garko both homered for Triple-A Buffalo. Either would be a better choice for a spot on Cleveland's bench.

Jeff Liefer went 2-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI, and three strikeouts as the designated hitter against the Yankees tonight.

Liefer is only up while Travis Hafner is hurt, so don't expect much in the way of long-term value even if his hot hitting ways from Triple-A Buffalo carry over.

Indians purchased the contract of first baseman-outfielder Jeff Liefer from Triple-A Buffalo.

Liefer, 30, was hitting .321/.388/.595 for Buffalo, but he hasn't been a very good major leaguer. Expect him to make a couple of starts against right-handers and then return to the minors once Travis Hafner comes off the DL.

Indians signed first baseman-outfielder Jeff Liefer to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Liefer hit .283/.365/.519 for Triple-A Indianapolis last season. He's probably not going to have a spot on the Cleveland bench.

Brewers sent infielder Jeff Liefer outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Liefer hit .214 with one home run in 28 at-bats during his time with the Brewers.

Jeff Liefer, who had been hitless since June 12, went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI tonight.

Liefer probably earned himself another start tomorrow, but he's not going to play much once the Brewers return to NL parks.

Manager Ned Yost said Jeff Liefer could see action as the DH in upcoming interleague series, as well as at third base, first base, and the outfield.

Liefer was fantastic at Triple-A. He's up to provide a little punch, so the team will probably use him as the DH in AL parks, and give him a chance to claim third base in Wes Helms' absence. Don't expect much, though. Liefer failed to shine in a similar trial with Tampa Bay last year.

Brewers purchased the contract of infielder Jeff Liefer from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Liefer was batting .341/.406/.615 for Indianapolis. He's a left-handed hitter, just like Milwaukee's starting first baseman and all three outfielders, so this isn't a great fit for him. He shouldn't get any starts unless injuries strike.

The Brewers have had Jeff Liefer play some third base at Triple-A Indianapolis.

Outside of embarrassing himself earlier this season by getting locked in a stadium restroom, Liefer has been fantastic at Indy, hitting .331-11-38 with an 18/15 bb/k rate. ''We're just trying tp make Liefer more versatile. He'll start playing more in the outfield, too,'' assistant GM Gord Ash said. Liefer could be an option to fill in at third base with Wes Helms sidelined.

Brewers signed first baseman-outfielder Jeff Liefer to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Liefer might make the Brewers as a reserve, but that fact that he, like Lyle Overbay and Geoff Jenkins, is a left-handed hitter will work against him.

The Brewers are close to signing first baseman-outfielder Jeff Liefer to a minor league contract.

These are good days to be a Brewers fan.
