Yankees designated outfielder Terrence Long for assignment.

Yankees purchased the contract of outfielder Terrence Long from Triple-A Columbus.

It'd be good news for the rest of the American League if the Yankees fooled around with Long for any length of time. That they're adding him here probably means that Kevin Reese will go back to the minors when Gary Sheffield comes off the DL. Long hit .279/.321/.378 with three steals in six attempts in 455 at-bats for the Royals last season. He shouldn't have any fantasy value while serving as a reserve outfielder and pinch-hitter.

Yankees signed outfielder Terrence Long to a minor league contract,

Long was hitting .229/.260/.292 in 48 at-bats for Triple-A Louisville before the Reds released him earlier this month. It would be bad news if the Yankees need him at any point.

Reds released outfielder Terrence Long from Triple-A Louisville.

Perhaps he requested the move. Long was hitting .229/.260/.292 in 48 at-bats for Louisville.

Reds signed outfielder Terrence Long to a minor league contract.

Not that we would have supported the idea, but it's hard to believe Long never found a team that would let him battle for a reserve spot. He'll have to begin the season in Triple-A now, but he could become the Reds' fourth outfielder at some point.

Royals sent outfielder Terrence Long outright to Triple-A Omaha.

Long and Nate Field, who was removed from the 40-man roster yesterday, both opted for free agency. The Royals were happy with what Long gave them this year, even though it was just a 699 OPS and below average defense in left field. Fortunately, it doesn't look like there's much chance that he'll be re-signed. He's pretty harmless as a reserve, but Buddy Bell probably wouldn't use him that way.

Terrence Long is back in right field tonight after missing two starts with a sore left knee.

What a relief. Matt Diaz only had one homer off Johan Santana last night, so he's out of the lineup.

Terrence Long, who twisted his left knee three days ago, entered tonight's game with the Twins as a pinch-hitter.

He struck out in his lone plate appearance.

Terrence Long didn't play tonight and probably won't play tomorrow because of the knee injury he sustained yesterday.

Chip Ambres will fill in for him.

Terrence Long left today's game when he twisted his left knee in the sixth inning.

Long wanted to stay in the game. He could return tomorrow.

Terrence Long, who left yesterday's game with a bruised right leg, is starting in left field and batting third tonight.

He's batting third against Kenny Rogers despite his remarkably bad .225/.247/.225 line in 80 AB versus southpaws this year.

Terrence Long is believed to be day-to-day with a bruised lower right leg.

It'd still be for the best if he didn't play much the rest of the way, but odds are that he'll be right back in the starting lineup in a couple of days.

Terrence Long left today's game in the fifth inning with an apparent right foot injury.

This might be another one of those injuries that is good news for the team. Long is still playing regularly despite a .224/.265/.263 line in 76 at-bats this month. The Royals should give his at-bats to Chip Ambres and Matt Diaz.

Terrence Long picked up four RBI with a bases-loaded double and a groundout today.

His high RBI game of the season. He also has a couple of homers in the last 11 days, so it seems unlikely that he'll be benched anytime soon.

Terrence Long went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI in tonight's loss.

It was his fourth home run in 270 at-bats this season. His OPS is back over 700 for the first time since the end of June. It just doesn't seem fair that he has a job as a platoon left fielder for a major league team, but he has been less than horrible over the less two months.
