Ted Lilly received an epidural in his ailing neck on Tuesday.
The Dodgers are hoping it will allow Lilly to recover from his neck sprain a little faster. At this point, the left-hander has no timetable for a return. Jun 11 - 7:40 PM

Dodgers placed LHP Ted Lilly on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 5, with a neck sprain.

Lilly has a chronic neck disc issue and it was likely jolted when he collided with the Padres' Kyle Blanks and fell to the ground during his last start. It's not clear how much time he'll miss. Matthew Magill is taking his spot in the rotation.
Jun 9 - 12:23 PM

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Saturday that Ted Lilly will be placed on the disabled list on Sunday.

Lilly was scratched from his scheduled Sunday start against the Braves after experiencing renewed discomfort in his neck. Matt Magill will take the mound in his place and figures to remain in the rotation for as long as the veteran left-hander is sidelined.
Jun 8 - 6:25 PM

Ted Lilly (neck) has been scratched from his Sunday start against the Braves.

Lilly wasn't able to make his regularly scheduled bullpen session this week and reported "continued discomfort" with his chronic neck disc issue. Matt Magill will be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to make a spot start in his place.
Jun 8 - 9:13 AM

Ted Lilly could miss his scheduled start on Sunday due to a disc issue in his neck.

Lilly played catch and ran Thursday but was unable to throw his regularly scheduled bullpen session. Matthew Magill would be an option to fill in for him if he's not able to take the ball Sunday against the Braves.
Jun 6 - 7:32 PM

Ted Lilly allowed five runs -- four earned -- in four-plus innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Padres.

There wasn't really anything to like about Lilly's outing tonight. He gave up two homers, and he couldn't even prevent opposing starter Clayton Richard from delivering an RBI single in the fourth. In the fifth, he uncorked an awful throw after fielding a bunt and was pulled. He failed to last six innings for the fifth time in five starts. It's possible that his arm just isn't up to working every five days right now. If the Dodgers can start figuring out ways to give him extra rest, they should.
Jun 5 - 1:30 AM

Ted Lilly was charged with three runs in 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Angels.

Lilly never even looked at manager Don Mattingly as he was taken out of a 2-2 game with two on and two outs in the sixth. Ronald Belisario came in and gave up the go-ahead run. Lilly was at just 90 pitches at the time, so there was an argument for leaving him in. He looks like a pretty good play in mixed leagues next week with home starts against the Padres and Braves on the schedule.
May 31 - 1:04 AM

Ted Lilly allowed two runs -- one earned -- in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision, and the Dodgers beat the Cardinals on Saturday.

The start was Lilly's first since April 29. He left with the lead but watched the Cardinals score twice in the sixth inning to tie the game, erasing the opportunity for him to pick up his first win of the season. The left-hander gave up just two hits and a walk over the course of the outing, with the Cardinals' first run coming with help from a Nick Punto error. His next start will come Thursday against the Angels.
May 25 - 10:49 PM

Ted Lilly will start Saturday against the Cardinals.

Lilly was activated from the disabled list Monday and will be available out of the bullpen Tuesday night, but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly will try to keep away from using him if possible. The veteran left-hander owns a 5.63 ERA over two starts this season. He'll have a tough matchup Saturday, but should be owned in NL-only leagues.
May 21 - 2:16 PM

Ted Lilly will be available out of the bullpen for the next couple days but then will rejoin the Dodgers' rotation.

He'll be used as the No. 5 starter until Josh Beckett (groin) is ready to return. Lilly holds a 5.63 ERA and 2.25 WHIP over his two starts this season but should probably be owned in NL-only formats.
May 20 - 6:35 PM

Dodgers activated LHP Ted Lilly from the 15-day disabled list.

Lilly has been sidelined since April 29 with a strained right rib cage. The Dodgers have the option to skip the fifth spot in the rotation on Thursday, so it's not clear if the veteran southpaw will pitch as a starter or reliever initially.
May 20 - 4:55 PM

Ted Lilly allowed four runs over five innings Wednesday in a rehab start at High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Lilly wasn't exactly sharp, yielding five hits and three walks, but he felt no discomfort in his rib cage and is hoping to return to the Dodgers' rotation next week. The Dodgers were aggressive with Zack Greinke (clavicle) and might as well be aggressive with Lilly.
May 16 - 10:56 AM

Ted Lilly (rib cage) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday.

Lilly threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues. He shouldn't need more than a start or two to get ready and would be an option to replace Josh Beckett (groin) if a DL move is needed for the righty.
May 14 - 6:44 PM

Ted Lilly (rib cage) is likely to begin a rehab assignment this week.

Lilly threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues and is ready to test things out in a game. "I think Teddy's feeling pretty good," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "He's not feeling anything with his neck or his side right now. So we're moving where we want to go with him."
May 13 - 10:54 PM

Ted Lilly (rib cage) threw a bullpen session Sunday.

Lilly tossed about 45 pitches and reported no issues with his rib cage. He was given a cortisone shot last week and it seems to have done the trick. The left-handed starter should be good to go within the next 7-10 days.
