Blue Jays purchased the contract of INF Chris Woodward from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Woodward will take Brett Cecil's place on the active roster. The 34-year-old infielder has appeared in just 41 major league games since the end of the 2007 season and carries no fantasy value.

Blue Jays signed INF Chris Woodward to a minor league contract.

Woodward, 34, made just 22 major league plate appearances last season for the Mariners and is unlikely to have a major impact in Toronto. He will almost certainly open the year at Triple-A Las Vegas.

Mariners recalled INF Chris Woodward from Triple-A Tacoma.

The 34-year-old Woodward has posted some ugly offensive statistics at the Triple-A level this season, but the Mariners are short on bodies in the infield. He will see playing time at different positions.

The Mariners will promote infielder Chris Woodward on Monday.

Jack Wilson broke a bone in his hand in an off-the-field incident on Saturday and is expected to miss a significant chunk of time. Woodward, 34, has an ugly .232/.303/.329 batting line in 401 at-bats this season at Triple-A Tacoma, but he's likely to see some time at second base.

Mariners signed utilityman Chris Woodward to a minor league contract.

Woodward spent most of the season in Seattle's organization, appearing in 20 games at the major league level before being claimed off waivers by the Red Sox in August and serving a few stints there. His versatility makes him valuable, especially in light of the impending trade of Bill Hall. The 33 year old should open the season with Triple-A Tacoma.

Red Sox purchased the contract of infielder Chris Woodward from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Woodward was 0-for-7 during an eight-game stint with the Red Sox earlier this season. He'll provide emergency infield depth down the stretch.

Red Sox purchased the contract of infielder Chris Woodward from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Woodward was 0-for-4 in five games with the Red Sox last month when they were desperate for a glove at shortstop. He wasn't much better after being sent outright to Pawtucket on August 19, batting just .129 in 31 at-bats. He'll provide manager Terry Francona with some additional infield depth.

Red Sox designated IF Chris Woodward for assignment.

The banged up Sox needed a body, necessitating the waiver claim of Chris Woodward last Friday. A week later, he find himself out of a job. A team in need of a backup infielder might take a flier. It's more likely this is his last taste of the majors.

Red Sox claimed infielder Chris Woodward off waivers from the Mariners.

Perhaps Jed Lowrie is about to land on the DL with his wrist/forearm problems. Woodward will provide infield depth for the Sox, but little more. He hit .239/.288/.254 for Seattle.

Mariners designated infielder Chris Woodward for assignment.

Somewhat of a surprising move, since Jack Hannahan had options remaining, and Woodward could have provided some flexibility at shortstop, but it looks like the Mariners preferred to keep Hannahan. Woodward batted .239/.288/.254 with five RBI in 67 at-bats with the Mariners.
