David Riske has been impressive early on in Orioles camp.
Riske has made just 24 big league appearances the last two seasons due to injury, but he's thrown back-to-back terrific bullpen sessions. "I'm a little surprised he's as far along as he is," manager Buck Showalter said. The 34-year-old appears to be a very early favorite to land one of the final spots in the Orioles bullpen. Orioles signed RHP David Riske to a minor league contract.

Riske has been limited to just 24 major league appearances over the past two seasons due to Tommy John surgery in June of 2009. The 34-year-old right-hander was released by the Brewers last August after posting a 5.01 ERA and 16/8 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings.

Brewers released RHP David Riske.

Riske was bad in 2008, injured in 2009, and hasn't shown strikeout stuff or passable control since returning from Tommy John surgery this year. He's a long way from fantasy relevance. A corresponding move will be announced tomorrow.

Brewers activated RHP David Riske from the 60-day disabled list.

Riske was nearing the end of his rehabilitation assignment, so he gets the call with Todd Coffey going on the disabled list. Riske, 33, made only one appearance in the major leagues last season before undergoing Tommy John surgery in June. He posted a 5.54 ERA in 11 minor league rehab appearances between High-A Brevard County and Triple-A Nashville.

The Brewers will likely activate David Riske from the 60-day disabled list on Tuesday, according to MLB.com

With Todd Coffey hitting the disabled list, the Brewers need someone to take his place. Riske's minor league rehabilitation assignment ends on Wednesday, so he's a pretty obvious choice. The veteran reliever is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery that cost him nearly all of last season.

Brewers transferred RHP David Riske from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The Brewers made the roster move in order to create space on the 40-man for Jonathan Lucroy. Riske is currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery and isn't expected back until sometime before the All-Star break. His rehab was recently bumped up from High-A Brevard County to Triple-A Nashville.

David Riske (elbow) has had his rehab assignment transferred from High-A Brevard County to Triple-A Nashville.

Good news. Riske, who is currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery, has allowed five runs -- four earned -- over three appearances with the Manatees, good enough for a 9.00 ERA. All five runs scored in one of the outings, so he's been pretty solid otherwise. He has a chance to contribute with the big club by mid-season.

Riske is currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery last June. The 33-year-old right-hander has already made a series of appearances in extended spring training games. Barring any setbacks, he could be a factor at some point this summer.

David Riske, who underwent Tommy John surgery in June, said Sunday that there's a chance he could be ready by Opening Day.

"It's a long shot," said the right-hander, "but it's a possibility." Riske threw just one inning in 2009 and had an ugly 5.32 ERA in 42-plus frames in 2008. But he told MLB.com's Adam McCalvy Sunday that his elbow discomfort stretched back to 2007, when then-pitching coach Mike Maddux tried to team him a breaking ball. Hopefully a freshly constructed elbow will net better results.

David Riske has decided to undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.

Riske had been pushing it off, but his recent meeting with Dr. Lewis Yocum helped spur the decision. He'll miss all of the 2009 season and some of 2010. The 32-year-old allowed two earned runs in one inning of work this season. He has a 3.61 career ERA.
