The deal carries $350,000 worth of performance-based incentives. Durbin, 35, registered a solid 3.10 ERA in 61 innings last season for the Braves and should do well this year in a middle relief role with the Phillies.

According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, the Phillies have signed a one-year contract with Chad Durbin.

The deal also carries a club option for 2014. Exact financial details are not yet available. Durbin, 35, posted a decent 3.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 49/28 K/BB ratio in 61 innings last season for the Braves. He will operate in middle relief this summer in the Philadelphia 'pen.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Chad Durbin is meeting with an unidentified team in California on Saturday.

Durbin led the Braves with 76 relief appearances last season while posting a 3.10 ERA and 49/28 K/BB ratio over 61 innings. The 35-year-old is expected to be seeking a one-year deal in free agency.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves are among the teams talking to free agent reliever Chad Durbin.

Durbin led the Braves with 76 appearances this season while posting a 3.10 ERA and 49/28 K/BB ratio over 61 innings. He should get a nice raise from the $900,000 he made in 2012.

Braves signed RHP Chad Durbin to a one-year contract.

Durbin failed to win a spot in the Nationals' bullpen this spring despite posting a 2.35 ERA and 15/3 K/BB ratio in 15 1/3 Grapefruit League innings. He'll presumably function as a middle reliever for Atlanta.

Chad Durbin - R - Phillies

Chad Durbin left Nationals' camp Thursday because his wife is scheduled to give birth to their second child Friday.

He is scheduled to rejoin the team Monday. Durbin has a 2.03 ERA and 11/3 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings this spring and is currently a candidate to make the Nats' bullpen.

Chad Durbin told Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post that he'll "shop around" if he doesn't make the Nationals' Opening Day roster.

Durbin's minor league deal with the Nats includes an opt-out clause. There's a chance it could be rendered irrelevant, as he's making a pretty solid case to claim a bullpen spot. After tossing two shutout innings Wednesday against the Braves, the 34-year-old right-hander has a 2.38 ERA and 9/2 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings this spring.

Nationals signed RHP Chad Durbin to a minor league contract.

After inking Brad Lidge last week, the Nationals now have another former member of the Phillies' bullpen. Durbin, 34, had an ugly 5.53 ERA and 59/26 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings with the Indians last season, but should fare better in his return to the National League East. He'll try to win a bullpen spot during spring training.

Chad Durbin feels much better on the mound now that he's regained the feel for his cutter, his signature pitch.

"I'd been throwing it, but it was going up there like a cement mixer at 84 mph," said Durbin of his cutter earlier in the season. "I found it in the relief appearance against Kansas City [April 27]. I started throwing the cutter 88 to 89. It's felt a lot better." Durbin has been unscored upon in three of his last four appearances and has vultured wins in each of his last two games.

Durbin, a 33-year-old righty, can make another $1 million through performance-based incentives. He had been holding out for an offer from a contending team but decided to settle with the Tribe last week. Durbin will operate as a setup man or middle reliever this season.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Chad Durbin will receive $800,000 guaranteed on his deal with the Indians.

He'll have an opportunity to make an additional $1 million in "reachable" incentives, according to Crasnick's source. It's a bit surprising that Durbin, who was generally considered the best reliever left on the market, had to settle not only for such a low guaranteed amount, but that he took the deal from the Indians when he reportedly preferred signing with a contending team. Durbin will help set up for closer Chris Perez.

Jon Heyman of SI.com essentially reported the same yesterday. Durbin, 33, posted a 3.86 ERA and 50/22 K/BB ratio over 58 1/3 innings with the Phillies last season and will fill a primary setup role with the Tribe. He is considered the best relief pitcher left on the market.

The two sides have been talking recently and Heyman believes that a deal could be struck within the next day or two. Durbin, 33, posted a 3.86 ERA and 50/22 K/BB ratio over 58 1/3 innings with the Phillies last season and should do well in a setup role for the Tribe. He was thought to be holding out for a contract from a contending team, but spring training is in full swing now and he probably wanted to get into a camp.

This is essentially the same information that we learned on Tuesday night, but it bears repeating. Durbin is still holding out for a major league deal, but could reportedly return to the Phillies on a minor league deal if he is unable to find one.
