Marlins purchased the contract of INF Mike Lamb from Triple-A New Orleans.

Lamb was 5-for-25 (.200) before being outrighted to Triple-A New Orleans earlier this month. The 34-year-old infielder was batting .266/.324/.328 with one home run and 14 RBI with the Zephyrs.

Marlins sent INF Mike Lamb outright to Triple-A New Orleans.

The 34-year-old infielder was 5-for-25 (.200) with four RBI before being designated for assignment by the Marlins on Sunday. It's no surprise to see him pass through waivers.

Marlins designated INF Mike Lamb for assignment.

This opens a spot on the 40-man roster for stud prospect Mike Stanton, who will be officially promoted prior to Tuesday's game. The 34-year-old Lamb is likely to pass through waivers and land in Triple-A, just as he did when he was DFA'd last month. He posted a .499 OPS in 25 at-bats for the Fish.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Juan C. Rodriguez, the Marlins on Tuesday will recall Emilio Bonifacio and Rick Vandenhurk from Triple-A New Orleans, selected the contract of Mike Stanton from Double-A Jacksonville, designate Mike Lamb for assignment and option Brett Carroll and Tim Wood to Triple-A.

Apparently, the Marlins had plans for a bigger splash than just the promotion of one of baseball's best prospects. Obviously, Stanton is the big story, but the club apparently decided to make subtle changes to their bench and bullpen.

Marlins purchased the contract of INF Mike Lamb from Triple-A New Orleans.

Interesting. Lamb was just bumped off the 40-man earlier this month, but he's back already. The 34-year-old infielder is 4-for-22 (.222) with the Fish this season.

Marlins sent INF Mike Lamb outright to Triple-A New Orleans.

The 34-year-old was 4-for-22 (.222) before being designated for assignment by the club last week. After successfully clearing waivers, he's likely to stick with the team's Triple-A affiliate.

Marlins designated INF Mike Lamb for assignment.

Lamb climbed his way onto the big league roster with a .355/.412/.516 batting line, but went just 4-for-18 in limited action for the Fish. The 34-year-old is likely to pass through waivers and land in Triple-A.

Marlins purchased the contract of 3B Mike Lamb.

The Fish made the odd decision of designating Jai Miller for assignment to make room, even though he performed well last season at Triple-A New Orleans. Lamb, who hit .355/.412/.516 this spring, will serve as a backup infielder for the Marlins this season.

Mike Lamb delivered a pinch-hit double in his lone at-bat Monday, giving him a .417 average this spring.

It looks like Lamb will be Ross Gload's replacement on Florida's bench. He's 10-for-24 with five doubles and eight RBI this spring.

Marlins signed INF Mike Lamb to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Lamb was last sighted in the majors in 2008, splitting time with the Twins and Brewers and hitting a collective .235/.276/.320 in 272 at-bats. Before that, he had a reputation for good thump and poor defense. The 34 year old spent all of 2009 with the Mets' Triple-A organization, posting a .669 OPS over 440 at-bats. He's a candidate to make the Marlins as a lefty bat off the bench, but it seems clear his days as a major leaguer are over.

If Carlos Delgado needs to be placed on the disabled list, Mike Lamb is one of the candidates to join the Mets.

Lamb only has a .122 batting average in Triple-A, but is hitting the ball hard. People in the know say Lamb or Ramon Martinez will be the one to receive the call should the Mets opt to put Delgado on the disabled list.

He's expected to join Triple-A Buffalo and provide them with some organizational depth in the infield.

Brewers released 3B Mike Lamb.

The veteran should catch on with another team, but for the time being he's not worth a roster spot in NL-only leagues.
