Jon Garland, 37, is contemplating a comeback.
Garland had a throwing session for the White Sox on Sunday and said that his right arm feels better than it has in years. The righty hasn't pitched since 2013 and hasn't had any real success since 2011, so he's obviously a real long shot to do anything in the majors again. Sun, Jun 25, 2017 01:48:00 PM

Jon Garland's agent told Jon Morosi of FOX Sports that his client probably won't pitch in 2014.

Garland was released by the Rockies last June after posting a 5.82 ERA in 68 innings and failed to latch on with a new team. The interest hasn't picked up this winter. Garland, 34, might try against next offseason.

Rockies released RHP Jon Garland.

Garland was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Saturday after posting a brutal 5.82 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 68 innings. The 33-year-old righty will likely get a minor league contract from some desperate team.

Rockies designated RHP Jon Garland for assignment.

Garland posted a 5.82 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 32/23 K/BB ratio in 68 innings (12 starts) with the Rox. The 33-year-old righty will try to latch on with a new team.

The Rockies are expected to designate Jon Garland for assignment.

Garland is no longer needed with Jeff Francis set to return from the disabled list. The 33-year-old right-hander had a 5.82 ERA over 12 starts with the Rockies.

Jon Garland allowed four runs in six innings to earn the win against the Reds on Wednesday.

Garland got off on the wrong foot, allowing four runs in the first inning before settling in and keeping the Reds at bay the rest of the night. In fact, after that first inning Garland allowed only one other hit over his next five innings. The win moved him to 4-6 on the year. The right-hander will take the mound again Tuesday against the Nationals.

Jon Garland was touched up for five runs in five innings Friday as part of a no-decision against the Dodgers.

Garland gave up seven hits and three walks while striking out only one batter. He has allowed exactly five runs in three straight starts while his ERA has ballooned to 5.81 for the year. We're thinking he's not long for a rotation spot.

Jon Garland surrendered five runs (two earned) on seven hits over five innings Sunday for his sixth loss of the season.

Garland has now dropped five of his last six starts. He gave up four walks and allowed a home run to Buster Posey in the second inning, but managed to escape with just two earned runs. Garland's rotation spot could be in jeopardy if he doesn't turn things around soon. In 10 starts this season, he has a 5.05 ERA and 1.61 WHIP.

Jon Garland allowed three runs over five innings as the Rockies fell to the Cubs on Wednesday.

Garland was undone by two home runs, including one hit by his counterpart Jeff Samardzija. It was the third-straight start in which Garland has gone five and given up three, a remarkable consistency but not one that yields a lot of wins. The right-hander will next take the mound against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Jon Garland allowed three runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Garland has now allowed three runs or fewer in six out of his seven starts this season. Of course, he has a mediocre 4.83 ERA to show for it and has fanned only 22 batters in 41 innings. The veteran right-hander is doing fine as an innings-eater for Colorado, but he shouldn't be a consideration in fantasy leagues.

Jon Garland gave up three runs over six innings in his start Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Garland has pitched at least six innings in all of his starts and has been a nice surprise for the Rockies thus far. He allowed eight hits and two walks but had just four strikeouts. Garland has a 4.65 ERA and 1.39 WHIP this season.

Jon Garland gave up two runs in seven innings Thursday in an 11-3 win over the Mets.

Garland scattered six hits and didn't walk a batter. He also struck out six and induced 12 ground balls. The veteran right-hander owns a 3.32 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through his first three starts this season and has gone six innings or more in all of them. While he's not a recommended option in mixed leagues, he has been a nice surprise for the Rockies thus far.

Wednesday night's game between the Mets and Rockies has been postponed due to a Denver snowstorm.

Jon Garland was scheduled to make the start for Colorado and Jeremy Hefner was supposed to be on the bump for New York. A makeup date has not been set.

Rockies signed RHP Jon Garland.

The financial terms still aren't available, but it's a major league deal. Garland will open the season as the Rockies' fifth starter after posting a 2.25 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 12 innings this spring. Look for him to serve as a stop gap until Drew Pomeranz is ready for a spot in the major league rotation.

Jon Garland is expected to sign with the Rockies Sunday if he passes a physical.

Garland was released by the Mariners Saturday despite posting a 2.25 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 12 innings this spring. It's not clear if it will be a major or minor league deal, but it seems likely that the Rox have guaranteed him a spot in the rotation. Garland doesn't get a ton of ground balls or miss bats, so the odds are pretty good that this signing won't end well.
