Patterson, 33, was signed to a minor league deal last month but the Mets have decided not to carry him as organizational depth. He batted .251/.285/.410 with 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 18 stolen bases last season with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate last season.

Brewers released OF Corey Patterson; re-signed him to a minor league contract.

Patterson was only released for "procedural reasons," as the new collective bargaining agreement stipulated that he was due a $100,000 bonus on Friday. The Brewers quickly re-signed him to a minor league deal and he'll open the season with Triple-A Nashville.

Brewers signed OF Corey Patterson to a minor league contract.

The deal does not include an invite to big-league camp, though that could change. Patterson, 32, batted .239/.273/.359 with six home runs, 36 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .632 OPS over 396 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and Cardinals last season. He's expected to open the season at Triple-A Nashville, but provides some depth if Ryan Braun's 50-game suspension sticks.

Patterson drew just 56 plate appearances in St. Louis after being acquired in late July from the Blue Jays. He'll be on the hunt for a minor league contract this winter.

Cardinals acquired OF Corey Patterson from the Blue Jays in the Colby Rasmus deal.

Patterson, 31, was batting .252/.287/.379 with six homers and 13 stolen bases over 341 plate appearances with the Toronto this season. Jon Jay is the big beneficiary of the Rasmus trade from a fantasy perspective, though with Lance Berkman's shoulder injury, Patterson should see a fair amount of playing time in the short-term.

The multi-hit night was Patterson's third of the month, and 17th of the season. He's now batting .293 through his first 222 at-bats, and looks poised to remain a solid AL-only league option going forward.

Corey Patterson went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI on Sunday afternoon, pacing the Blue Jays to a 13-4 blowout of the White Sox in Toronto.

Patterson led the charge on a day where Jose Bautista went just 1-for-4 with a single, and capped off a huge weekend that saw him go 9-for-12 with two home runs and six runs scored. The bomb today was his fourth of the season, while he's now up to 24 RBI to go along with a .301 average. He's showing stubborn persistence when it comes to warranting mixed-league ownership.

He went 5-for-7 with four runs scored as the designated hitter. It was the third five-hit game of his career. Patterson might not have a regular role once Adam Lind returns from the disabled list, but his power-speed combo makes him worth owning in AL-only leagues at the moment.

Corey Patterson knocked in the go-ahead run with a squeeze bunt in the ninth and then scored an insurance run as the Jays beat the Rangers on Thursday.

Patterson put down a perfect safety squeeze that resulted in everyone being safe and gave the Jays a 3-2 lead in the ninth. He later scored after Juan Rivera's grounder to third bounced off Adrian Beltre's chest, setting off a weird chain of events. Beltre made a lazy toss to pitcher Darren Oliver after the play, and since Oliver didn't seem to be paying attention, Yunel Escobar took off from second. Patterson, who was on third, didn't budge, forcing Escobar to turn around. Oliver, though, threw the ball into center field trying to retire Escobar, allowing Patterson to score.

Patterson missed the first 11 days of the regular season with a concussion that he suffered in late spring. He's been cleared now and will serve as a utility outfielder.

Patterson is on the disabled list with a concussion sustained March 25. The Jays could drop an infielder and add him as a reserve next week.
