He cleared waivers and has accepted his assignment. Burroughs managed just two hits in 17 at-bats with the Twins but might get another shot at some point.

Burroughs made the team by batting .333/.429/.381 this spring. He will function as a utility infielder.

It's not a serious issue. Burroughs earned a spot on the Twins' Opening Day roster this spring by batting .333/.429/.381. He will act as a utility infielder.

Sean Burroughs has made the Twins' Opening Day roster.

He did so by batting .342/.444/.395 this spring to this point. Burroughs will be the primary backup at third base and can also play first base and even second in a pinch.

Sean Burroughs singled twice and knocked in three runs against the Red Sox on Friday.

With a .324 average and just two extra-base hits in 36 at-bats, he's been the Burroughs of old this spring. It's not expected to win him a spot on the Minnesota bench, but he could get a look if injuries strike.

He's been labeled day-to-day. Burroughs is attempting to make Minnesota's Opening Day roster as an extra infielder, so we wouldn't expect this injury to hold him out of action. Burroughs hit .273/.289/.336 over 110 at-bats for the D'Backs last season after spending a few years away from the game.

Burroughs batted .273/.289/.336 over 110 at-bats for the D'Backs this season after spending a few years away from the game. He'll have to accept a minor league deal with someone over the offseason, assuming the 31-year-old wants to continue his playing career.

Sean Burroughs provided all the offense in Arizona's 2-0 win over the Nationals on Tuesday, taking Jordan Zimmermann deep for a two-run homer in the seventh.

The 12th home run of Burroughs' career was his first since April 30, 2005. Quite an accomplishment for a former top prospect that hadn't appeared in a game since 2006 before being called up by the Diamondbacks on May 19.

Burroughs had made just one start in the month since the All-Star break. Obviously, he doesn't have any fantasy value at the moment. Still, it appears that he will stick with the Diamondbacks for the rest of the season.

Sean Burroughs went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored Monday versus the Brewers.

Burroughs has started two of the four games since his callup, as the Diamondbacks want to see if he's a legitimate option as a third baseman against right-handers. As little power as he has, he's unlikely to amass much value in NL-only leagues. Still, those short of healthy infielders could give him a look.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of INF Sean Burroughs from Triple-A Reno.

He'll replaced the recently-released Melvin Mora on the active roster. Burroughs, 30, went 6-for-24 (.250) with a double and a run scored in a stint with the D-Backs earlier this season. The veteran will backup Ryan Roberts at third base and function as a lefty bat off the bench.
