It was a nightmare from the outset, as Beckett also walked four. Fortunately, his offense and bullpen bailed him out in the 8-4 victory. Beckett was thrilled to see the Braves after not facing them for more than five years -- he entered the night 6-0 with a 0.38 ERA in his last seven outings against the club. Beckett was 0-4 with a 3.30 ERA in his last five home starts. The veteran gets the Cubs in Los Angeles next time around. Jul 30 - 2:01 AM

Josh Beckett went home with a no-decision after allowing four runs in 3 2/3 innings in Tuesday's 12-7 loss to the Pirates.

The Pirates had Beckett's number, bashing five extra-base hits against the right-hander before chasing him with two outs in the fourth. Gregory Polanco, Neil Walker, and Ike Davis each homered against him. Overall, Beckett allowed six hits, walked none, and struck out four. The veteran has otherwise had a great season, now carrying a 2.52 ERA with a 2.52 ERA and a 99/32 K/BB ratio. He'll match up against the Braves at home next Wednesday.

Dodgers activated RHP Josh Beckett from the 15-day disabled list.

Beckett will return to the Dodgers' starting rotation on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh after sitting out for over two weeks with a hip injury. He still has a labrum tear and some cysts, but the veteran right-hander is going to try to pitch through the discomfort with the help of cortisone injections. Beckett boasts a 2.26 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 95/32 K/BB ratio in 103 2/3 innings this season.

Josh Beckett (hip) will be activated from the disabled list to start Tuesday against the Pirates.

That was the hope all along, but it's now official. Beckett is dealing with a labrum tear and two cysts in his hip, but he's feeling better after a cortisone injection and will attempt to pitch through it.
Jul 21 - 5:13 PM

Josh Beckett admitted that he felt "better than expected" on Saturday after throwing off a mound for the first time since his cortisone injection.

His MRI revealed a small labrum tear in his hip, though it's believed to be something that he can pitch through. The team remains hopeful that Beckett will be cleared to rejoin the rotation against the Pirates on Tuesday.
Jul 19 - 1:25 PM

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Friday that he remains hopeful that Josh Beckett (hip) will be able to rejoin the rotation on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

Beckett has been sidelined since July 7 due to a left hip impingement. He has reported significant improvement in recent days, and barring any setbacks it looks as though he'll miss just one scheduled start.
Jul 18 - 7:02 PM

Josh Beckett (hip) played catch from 90 feet Thursday.

It came just three days after he had a cortisone injection in his left hip. "Josh feels pretty good," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Played catch up to 90 feet, felt good. We're hopeful that this time will allow the injections and all of that to take hold, and we'll be able to strengthen areas that he needs to and just kind of feel better in general." The Dodgers are hoping the right-hander will only miss one start.
Jul 10 - 10:54 PM

Dodgers placed RHP Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 7, with a left hip impingement.

With the All-Star break coming up, Beckett might only have to miss one start. The Dodgers have called up right-hander Pedro Baez to take his spot on the active roster.
Jul 8 - 3:11 PM

Josh Beckett was pulled from Sunday's start against the Rockies after five innings after tweaking his hip while running the bases.

Beckett had twirled five shutout innings, allowing just three hits and three walks before being removed. It doesn't sound like the injury is serious, but fantasy owners should continue to monitor the situation before inserting him into weekly lineups.
Jul 6 - 8:33 PM

Josh Beckett was bombed for five runs on six hits over five innings in a loss against the Indians on Tuesday.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly confirmed Monday that Beckett has been dealing with minor hip soreness recently, and we might have seen a manifestation of that discomfort this evening. He came into tonight red-hot, as Beckett had gone 3-3 with a 1.34 ERA in seven starts since his no-hitter at Philadelphia on May 25, declining to allow any earned runs in four of those outings. Assuming he doesn't need a trip to the disabled list, Beckett (5-5, 2.46 ERA) travels to Colorado on Sunday. He's probably not worth the risk in standard daily mixed leagues.
Jul 2 - 1:39 AM

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Josh Beckett had a little something" with his hip, but it won't affect his status for Tuesday's start.

It's something to note, but it doesn't appear to be a big deal at this point. Beckett missed the first week of the season due to thumb and ankle ailments but has managed to stay healthy since, posting a 2.11 ERA over 15 starts.
Jun 30 - 7:32 PM

Josh Beckett fired seven shutout innings, scattering four hits, in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Beckett punched out four and walked two to neutralize Adam Wainwright in a fierce 1-0 Dodgers' victory. He's on a quite a roll, having hurled 14 straight shutout innings and allowed just four runs over his past 29 innings pitched. The veteran right-hander entered 3-3 with a 1.58 ERA over his last six outings. Now boasting a shocking 6-2 record and 2.11 ERA, Beckett toes the rubber against the Indians next week.
Jun 27 - 12:46 AM

Josh Beckett blanked the Padres for seven innings, striking out eight, in a win Saturday.

Beckett allowed just four hits tonight, and he moved to 6-2 with a 2.12 ERA in nine career starts against the Padres. Things will start to get a bit more difficult now, as he'll face the Cardinals and Indians in his next couple of starts.
Jun 22 - 1:28 AM

Josh Beckett allowed four runs -- three earned -- over seven innings in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Beckett allowed one run on a wild pitch and while both runs in the sixth were earned, they came as a result of a Dee Gordon fielding error. The other run came the conventional way, via a Paul Goldschmidt homer. Even with the loss, Beckett owns a 2.49 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 13 starts. He'll square off with the Padres in San Diego on Saturday.
Jun 15 - 9:13 PM

Josh Beckett tossed six scoreless innings on Tuesday night against Reds.

Beckett probably could have gone an inning longer, but there was a lengthy rain delay before the game and he threw 128 pitches in his late-May no-hitter. He struck out seven and surrendered only four hits Tuesday in Cincinnati, a tough place for pitchers. The veteran right-hander now owns a fantastic 2.35 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings this season. In 2007, when he finished second in the American League Cy Young Award voting, he had a 3.27 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 194 strikeouts in 200 2/3 innings. Beckett should keep rolling next time out against the Diamondbacks.
