Diamondbacks acquired OF Michael Restovich from the White Sox.
It's purely a depth move for the D'Backs, as Restovich will be assigned to Triple-A Reno. The 32-year-old batted just .229/.282/.365 with three homers in 96 at-bats for Triple-A Charlotte this season. Wed, Jul 27, 2011 07:16:00 PM

Nationals sent outfielder Michael Restovich outright to Triple-A Columbus.

The Nationals are carrying Kory Casto for now, which must mean they're pretty frustrated with Dmitri Young. There shouldn't be any time for Casto in the outfield with Ryan Church moving back to left field and Ryan Langerhans serving as a backup. Restovich was 4-for-28 as a bench player.

Michael Restovich went 2-for-2 with a double in the 13th to help the Nationals beat the Phillies 5-4 on Wednesday.

Chris Snelling singled to start the 13th, was doubled to third by Restovich and then scored on Felipe Lopez's sac fly. What makes it an especially tough loss for the Phillies is that Restovich wasn't even supposed to be in the game. He would have been used earlier in the contest, but manager Charlie Manuel made a pitching change before the pinch-hitter was announced. It's just more ammo for those that want Manuel gone from Philly.

Nationals purchased the contract of outfielder Michael Restovich from Triple-A Columbus.

Restovich was hitting .278 with an 11/5 K/BB ratio in 36 at-bats for New Orleans. He'll get some starts against lefties until Nook Logan gets back, but he shouldn't have any fantasy value.

The Nationals will call up Michael Restovich to replace Kory Casto on the roster.

Restovich gives the team an added presence against left-handed pitching. He won't have any fantasy value.

Nationals signed outfielder Michael Restovich to a minor league contract.

Restovich, who should have spent the year as a platoon partner for Jacque Jones, hit .293/.374/.560 in 443 at-bats for Triple-A Iowa last season. He'd be a fine complement to a left-handed-hitting corner outfielder, but it's unclear whether the Nationals are going to have one of those next year. He might get stuck in Triple-A once again.

Michael Restovich went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double Saturday for Triple-A Iowa.

Restovich probably won't get the callup he so obviously deserves. The 27-year-old is batting .294/.373/.566 with 27 homers in 435 at-bats for Iowa. He was up with the Cubs for a time in April and May, but he didn't get one start in 17 days on the roster.

Cubs sent outfielder Michael Restovich outright to Triple-A Iowa.

Restovich didn't even get one start in 17 days with the Cubs. He went 2-for-12 with a double.

After entering Saturday's game as a pinch-hitter. Michael Restovich went 2-for-2 with an RBI double and a walk.

The Cubs already have a player capable of helping out against lefties, but manager Dusty Baker has refused to start Restovich since he was called up eight days ago. Maybe this will get him into the lineup sometime in the near future.

Cubs purchased the contract of outfielder Michael Restovich from Triple-A Iowa.

Restovich is a career .281/.336/.467 hitters in 135 at-bats against lefties, so if he proves to be adequate defensively at first base, he could be a useful player for the Cubs. It's unlikely that he'll have much value in NL-only leagues.

Perhaps a clue that he'll be the choice to replace Derrek Lee on the Cubs, Triple-A Iowa's Michael Restovich was out of the lineup on Thursday.

Brandon Sing would be our pick, but he has struggled so far this season and Restovich did play some first base during spring training. If Restovich is the choice, it's probably a sign that John Mabry will get too much playing time at first base.

Cubs assigned outfielder Michael Restovich to minor league camp.

Restovich struggled this spring, hitting .204/.250/.367 in 49 AB. Even if he had a good spring, there would have been no sense in keeping him with Jacque Jones being miscast as a full-time player. Angel Pagan will make the Cubs instead.

Michael Restovich, almost exclusively a right fielder in the minors, bought a new first baseman's glove on Monday and tested it out on Tuesday.

Restovich hasn't started at first since high school. "For me, that's the role I have right now," he said about the need to be more versatile. "The more I can do, the better. I hope it will help my chances at any point in my career." Even if he picks up first base quickly, Restovich probably won't get a fair chance of beating out Marquis Grissom for a roster spot.

Cubs signed outfielder Michael Restovich to a minor league contract.

Did he enter into this agreement before or after he knew Marquis Grissom would also be joining the Cubs? He may be at least as good of an option to platoon with Jacque Jones as Grissom, but we doubt he'll be the choice. The Cubs will probably have him waste away in Triple-A.
