Braves released INF Julio Lugo.

He was cleared to make room for the newly-acquired Jack Wilson on the active roster. Lugo, 35, was predictably worthless during his time with the Braves, batting .136/.208/.136 over 48 plate appearances. We would be surprised to see him on another major league roster again.

Free agent infielder Julio Lugo has told ESPN Deportes' Enrique Rojas that he hasn't given up hope of finding a team for the 2011 season.

"I want to play, I’m healthy and I won’t lose my hopes that somebody will call me at any moment," said Lugo. "I’ve been working out everyday to be ready if somebody remembers my name and believes that I can help." Lugo, 35, said he received a few minor league offers over the winter but passed because he was waiting for something better to come along. He's certainly not going to get a major league contract, but perhaps when some team has a rash of infield injuries they'll give him a call. He hit just .249/.298/.282 over 241 at-bats with the Orioles in 2010.
