Rockies optioned RHP Adam Eaton to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Eaton has posted a 5.63 ERA in eight relief innings for the Rockies, and has a 8.08 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in 49 innings (eight starts) overall. The 31-year-old doesn't belong on a playoff-bound team.

Rockies purchased the contract of RHP Adam Eaton from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Eaton isn't likely to be productive in any way, shape or form for the Rockies. He posted an 8.56 ERA and 28/19 K/BB ratio with the Orioles earlier this season before the pitching-starved organization released him. Eaton will work in long relief.

Rockies signed RHP Adam Eaton to a minor league contract.

Eaton posted an 8.56 ERA and 28/19 K/BB ratio during the first couple months of the season in the Orioles' starting rotation. He's not likely to help the Rockies in any fashion, but will provide rotation depth at Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Orioles released RHP Adam Eaton.

Eaton has been terrible by any standard, with an 8.56 ERA. With few natural options to replace him and a staff in dire need of pitching, Eaton's release speaks volumes about how much he can help a big-league team at this point. No word yet on who will get his next start. Matt Albers will take his roster spot, but he's been relieving for Triple-A Norfolk.

Adam Eaton was tagged for seven runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees on Thursday night.

Eaton set the tone by surrendering doubles to the first three batters he faced. Six of the eight hits against him went for extra bases, and he issued three walks while managing only one strikeout. With an 8.56 ERA and 1.83 WHIP, he's been terrible.

Adam Eaton yielded five runs over six innings in a 7-5 loss to the Angels on Tuesday night.

And Eaton quickly comes back down to earth, as expected. He gave up six hits, including a home run to Howie Kendrick, while walking four and striking out two. He's not worth fantasy consideration, especially at Tampa next week.

Adam Eaton held the White Sox to two runs while striking out nine over 7 1/3 innings in a 6-2 Orioles victory Thursday night.

Well, that was unexpected. Eaton had failed to last more than four innings in either of his first two starts and entered tonight's outing with an 11.25 ERA, but he was lights-out against the Sox. Eaton allowed only six hits and zero walks, and didn't allow any runs while he was pitching -- he left the game with a pair of runners on and both came around to score against reliever Jim Johnson.

Adam Eaton was tagged for six runs and nine hits in four innings by the Red Sox on Saturday.

Doug Eddings was featuring a wide strike zone tonight, but Eaton still couldn't put together a decent outing. He has an 11.25 ERA after two starts, and while it's going to be hard to replace him right now with both Rich Hill and Alfredo Simon on the DL, it seems unlikely that he'll still be in Baltimore's rotation by this time next month.

Orioles purchased the contract of RHP Adam Eaton from Triple-A Norfolk.

Eaton will make his Orioles debut versus the Rays on Sunday.
Sun, Apr 12, 2009 01:26:00 PM

Adam Eaton, the Orioles' fifth starter, is scheduled to make his first start Sunday.

The team will have to make a roster move to accommodate activating Eaton. Reliever Matt Albers, who still has minor league options, would appear to be the most likely candidate.

Orioles manager Dave Trembley told Adam Eaton Friday morning that he will be the club's fifth starter.

Eaton's first start will come on April 12 against the Rays. He's not on the 25-man roster, so the O's will have to make a corresponding move before he throws a pitch. He'll stay in the minors until the day he pitches. The Orioles are carrying eight relievers, so one of them is likely to get the boot. After watching him post a 7.29 ERA and 1-2 record this spring, we'd advise fantasy owners to stay far, far away.

Adam Eaton surrendered five runs and nine hits in five innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Mets.

It looks like the Orioles' plan is to send Mark Hendrickson to the pen when Rich Hill returns, but we wouldn't be surprised if they're ready to release Eaton by then. The veteran ends the spring with a 7.29 ERA and a 1.95 WHIP in 21 innings.

Adam Eaton won Saturday despite giving up five runs in five innings against the Cardinals.

He allowed nine hits and walked four in the contest. Eaton is probably going to have a spot in Baltimore's rotation even with his spring ERA up to 6.75. The team doesn't want to rush its prospects, so Eaton figures to get a chance to try to hold his own as a stopgap.

Adam Eaton came out of the pen to give up four runs and eight hits in four innings against the Twins on Monday.

Delmon Young, Matt Tolbert and Brendan Harris all homered off him. Eaton is very much in the running for a spot in Baltimore's rotation, but it's hard to imagine him surviving in Camden Yards as homer-prone as he is.
