Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Scott Podsednik has stayed in shape and would be interested in playing in 2014 in the right situation.

Podsednik sat out all of 2013 but hit .302/.322/.352 for the Red Sox over 63 games in 2012. He'll turn 38 in March but could conceivably crack an Opening Day roster if given the opportunity.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN writes that the Twins haven't completely ruled out signing free agent Scott Podsednik, but "nothing is close to being imminent."

Podsednik didn't appear in the majors in 2011, but hit .302/.322/.352 in 63 games with the Red Sox last season. If signed, he figures to serve as veteran insurance after Minnesota traded away Denard Span and Ben Revere this offseason. The Twins are also expected to give prospect Aaron Hicks a chance to earn a starting job in spring training.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN reports that the Twins still have interest in signing free agent Scott Podsednik.

After trading away Denard Span and Ben Revere this offseason, the Twins could look to add Podsednik to their outfield mix, as they currently have just Brandon Boggs as a reserve outfielder. Podsednik didn't appear in the majors in 2011, but hit .302/.322/.352 in 63 games with the Red Sox last season. According to Wolfson, the Twins are no longer interested in free agent Ryan Sweeney.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN reports the Twins have expressed interest in free agent Scott Podsednik.

The Twins are desperate for outfield depth after trading away Denard Span and Ben Revere. Podsednik hit .302/.322/.352 in 63 games with the Red Sox in 2012, and is expected to be seeking a minor league contract. According to Wolfson, the Twins have also reached out to free agents Ryan Sweeney and Brent Lillibridge.

Scott Podsednik went 3-for-5 with a stolen base in Wednesday's loss to the Angels.

The swipe was Podsednik's seventh in 30 games in a Red Sox uniform, while he's now hitting .370/.392/.457 through 101 plate appearances. Set to see a big uptick in playing time with Carl Crawford undergoing season-ending surgery, there's no reason for Podsednik to be on the wire in AL-only leagues.

Red Sox signed OF Scott Podsednik to a one-year contract.

He's getting a major league deal and will join the team Friday, with Ryan Kalish going back to the minors. Pods was dealt by the Red Sox to the D'Backs just a couple weeks ago but was released before playing a game for them. He batted .387/.409/.484 with a homer and six steals over 19 games in his first stint with the Sox.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Red Sox have signed Scott Podsednik to a major league contract.

Full circle in a little under two weeks. The Red Sox dealt Podsednik and right-hander Matt Albers to the Diamondbacks on July 31 for left-hander Craig Breslow. However, the D-Backs granted Podsednik his release two days later after he declined a minor league assignment with Triple-A Reno. Now the 36-year-old outfielder is back with Boston.

Diamondbacks released OF Scott Podsednik.

Very odd. Podsednik was just acquired from the Red Sox this week along with right-hander Matt Albers in exchange for left-hander Craig Breslow. However, the veteran outfielder was granted his release after declining his assignment to Triple-A Reno. It's not clear if the D-Backs tried to find out if Scotty Pods was open to the idea of playing in the minors before agreeing to the deal with Boston, but now they only have Albers to show for the trade.

Diamondbacks acquired OF Scott Podsednik and RHP Matt Albers from the Red Sox LHP Craig Breslow.

The 36-year-old outfielder will function as depth in Triple-A for now. Pods doesn't figure to see much playing time in Arizona, a club stacked with outfielders.

Red Sox activated OF Scott Podsednik from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Pawtucket.

This doesn't necessarily dismiss him as an option to be the 26th man during Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees. The 36-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since mid-June with a groin injury.

Scott Podsednik (groin) could be activated from the disabled list Saturday.

A previous report indicated that he could return Friday, but activating him for Saturday's doubleheader is seen as more likely. The 36-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since mid-June with a groin injury.

Scott Podsednik (groin) could be activated from the disabled list Friday.

Podsednik has got in 16 plate appearances over four rehab games with Triple-A Pawtucket and appears to be back to 100 percent. But, even though he's batted .387/.409/.484 in his time with the Sox this season, it's possible he could be demoted once Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury return, which should be soon.

Scott Podsednik (groin) has already appeared in four rehab games at Triple-A Pawtucket.

It's not clear what the Red Sox have planned for Podsednik in the near future. The veteran outfielder has been on the shelf since June 19 with a strained left groin.
Thu, Jul 5, 2012 08:43:00 AM

Scott Podsednik (groin) went 0-for-3 with a walk in his first rehab appearance at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Podsednik served as the designated hitter and is expected to begin playing in the field Sunday. The 36-year-old outfielder was hitting .387 (24-for-62) with one homer, seven RBI and six steals prior to hitting the disabled list earlier this month with a groin strain.
