Royals released OF/1B Xavier Nady.

Nady dealt with a foot injury while batting .346 (9-for-26) with two doubles and six RBI this spring. The Royals would like to bring him back, but he's now free to sign elsewhere.

Xavier Nady is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his foot.

He's been sidelined since March 13 with the ailment. Nady is batting .333/.364/.381 in 11 games this spring, but the foot injury certainly won't help his chances at winning a roster spot. It's not clear how much longer he'll be out.

Royals signed OF/1B Xavier Nady to a minor league contract.

They'll give him an invitation to spring training. Nady hasn't been productive for a few years and batted just .184/.253/.316 over 59 games in 2012 for the Nationals and Giants. He's organizational depth.

Xavier Nady (hamstring) is in Monday's lineup against the Rockies.

Nady hasn't played since September 5 due to a straight left hamstring. The veteran outfielder went 4-for-12 (.333) with two doubles and three RBI in five games with the Giants prior to the injury.

Xavier Nady described his strained left hamstring as being "90 percent healed."

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said before Friday's game that Nady could be available to pinch-hit, so he's expected to return this weekend after missing eight games. The 33-year old Nady has batted .333/.500/.500 since being called up earlier this month.

Xavier Nady (hamstring) ran the bases Wednesday and thinks he'll be "serviceable" for the weekend series against the Diamondbacks.

It sounds like he'll be available to pinch-hit, but maybe not more than that. Nady has batted .333/.500/.500 in five games since joining the Giants.

Xavier Nady (hamstring) might be available to pinch-hit.

Trainers said Nady was at about 60 percent after doing some light jogging Monday. Giants manager Bruce Bochy wants him available this weekend when the Diamondbacks start three left-handed pitchers, so they will bring him along slowly.

Xavier Nady did some light running Monday for the first time since straining his left hamstring last Wednesday.

Nady said Sunday that he was getting close, so he could be back in the lineup any day now barring any setbacks. The veteran outfielder went 4-for-12 (.333) with two doubles and three RBI in five games with the Giants prior to the injury.

Xavier Nady was diagnosed with a mild hamstring strain and could return to the lineup in as soon as 4-5 days.

He sustained the injury during Wednesday's game. MRI results showed only a strain, and the time-table for his return sits at 4-10 days, but Nady believes it will be on the shorter end.

Xavier Nady suffered a strained hamstring Wednesday.

Nady is hoping that he'll only need a couple days off. The 33-year-old outfielder is batting .175/.248/.298 with three home runs and nine RBI in 45 games this season.

Xavier Nady had a three-run double in his Giants' debut Saturday afternoon against the Cubs.

It was his only hit of the day. The double capped off a four-run first inning for the Giants. The newly-added Nady should get a long look in left field with Gregor Blanco struggling, so he's worth a look in NL-only fantasy leagues, but we're not expecting much.

Giants purchased the contract of OF/1B Xavier Nady from Triple-A Fresno.

Nady, who signed a minor league deal with the Giants earlier this month, batted .270 (24-for-89) with six homers, 18 RBI and an .872 OPS over 25 games at the Triple-A level. He figures to split playing time in left field with Gregor Blanco and Joaquin Arias down the stretch.

Xavier Nady will be added to the Giants' roster on Saturday.

This confirms a report by Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com. Nady, who signed a minor league deal with the Giants earlier this month, could start in left field on Saturday against the Cubs. Assuming the Giants don't make any additions before midnight on Friday, the veteran will likely share playing time with Joaquin Arias and Gregor Blanco. None are worth chasing outside of NL-only leagues.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Giants plan on calling up Xavier Nady Saturday.

Rosenthal says the Giants have been "discouraged" about their chances of adding a "needle mover" in left field, so it appears that they'll settle on a combination of Nady, Joaquin Arias and Gregor Blanco. Carlos Lee would seem to be a fit, but he's already vetoed a trade to the Dodgers and might not want to go to the west coast.
