Third baseman Albert Pujols homered in the bottom of the 19th to give the Angels a 5-4 win over the Red Sox on Saturday.
The Angels outhit the Red Sox 15-6 and outwalked them 7-4 (four being intentional), but they couldn't win the game until Pujols snuck one just over the wall in right off Brandon Workman to lead off the bottom of the 19th. The Red Sox originally took a 4-3 lead in the 14th, but couldn't make it stand, as a fatigued Junichi Tazawa blew the save. Pujols moved from first to third in the 14th after John McDonald was removed for a pinch-hitter. It was his first appearance at his original position since 2012. The walkoff homer was his first since signing with the Angels. Aug 10 - 3:48 AM

Albert Pujols went 2-for-3 with a solo home run on Tuesday.

Pujols' eighth inning solo shot momentarily tied the game against the Angels' cross-regional rivals, but the Dodgers would go on to win in the bottom of the ninth on a David Freese throwing error. The home run was Pujols' 21st of the season and put him up to 70 RBI. He also contributed an RBI double in the third. Pujols just wrapped up a July in which he hit .310/.350/.478, his best month since April.

Albert Pujols broke a 0-0 tie in the 13th inning with an RBI single, finishing 2-for-6 overall in Thursday's win over the Orioles.

After the Angels had Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout reach base with a walk and a single, respectively, Pujols ended 12 innings of offensive futility with a single up the middle to score Calhoun. Stunningly, it was Pujols' first RBI since July 23. The 34-year-old has a fine .274/.324/.471 slash line with 20 home runs and 67 RBI on the season.

Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in a win against the Orioles on Wednesday.

The veteran first baseman got back on the board after going hitless over his past two games. He'd been plenty hot before that, however, entering tonight batting .313 with four homers in July. Pujols is hitting .274 overall with 20 homers and 66 RBI.

It's part of an overall resurgence for the 34-year-old, who's hitting .279/.325/.491 with 64 RBI and 58 runs scored this year.

Pujols had a string of four straight multi-hit games snapped with an 0-for-4 night Tuesday, but he was right back at it on Wednesday. The home run, his 20th of the year, gave the Angels a one-run lead, and they ended up winning by the same margin. He also scored a run in the third inning. His strong push has his season line at .270/.321/.489 with a few days left before the All-Star break.

Albert Pujols is in Monday's lineup against the White Sox.

Jun 30 - 4:51 PM

Albert Pujols has a swollen lymph node in his groin.

Pujols was thrown out on a would-be double Sunday after jogging to second base and told reporters after the game about the groin issue. "I'm pretty sure I'll be all right," Pujols said. "They say it's one of those things that should go away." He may get some days off this week.
Jun 30 - 8:30 AM

Albert Pujols went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base versus the Twins on Thursday.

The steal was the first he'd attempted since May 9. Pujols was also thrown out trying to take second on an aggressive (though misguided) move in the seventh. It suggests he feels healthier than he has in recent weeks, which is very good news.
Jun 26 - 7:09 PM

Albert Pujols (back) finished 1-for-4 in his return to the Angels' lineup Sunday versus the Rangers.

Pujols missed Saturday's game because of back tightness. The 34-year-old first baseman is batting just .217/.271/.379 since May 7, quieting talk of a career resurgence.
