Albert Pujols went supernova in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Rangers, cranking a pair of three-run homers to finish with six RBI.
Pujols began the pyrotechnics display when he launched a three-run home run off Kyle Lohse in the fourth inning. He would repeat the feat just one frame later. The first of those homers brought the Angels back from an early 3-0 deficit, while the latter boosted them to a 7-5 advantage that would not be relinquished. For the season, the aged slugger is slashing .252/.331/.447 with 19 homers and 71 RBI over 349 at-bats. His counting stats remain fantastic even as the average has fallen away with age. Albert Pujols slugged two home runs Sunday in the Angels' defeat of the White Sox.

Pujols made Jacob Turner look like a batting practice pitcher, launching a two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning and another two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth against the White Sox starter. Pujols now has 17 home runs and 64 RBI in 90 games this season, though that high-level counting-stats production has come with an underwhelming .248/.325/.429 overall batting line.

Albert Pujols went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and five RBI in Saturday's win over the Red Sox.

Pujols plated five of the Angels' whopping 21 runs on the evening, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning before clearing the bases with a three-run double in the seventh. The home run was his 15th of the year, giving him 55 RBI. Overall, the 36-year-old is batting .251/.326/.432 through 79 games.

Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.

Pujols notched a third-inning RBI single against Scott Feldman. The Angels would not score another run in the game. The veteran's triple-slash of .244/.317/.412 leaves much to be desired, but Pujols does have a respectable 14 homers and 49 RBI despite his other offensive shortcomings.
Jun 29 - 1:46 AM

Albert Pujols (hamstring) is back in the Angels' lineup Thursday against the Athletics.

He's back after sitting out two games with a sore hamstring. Pujols will serve as the DH and hit cleanup against Oakland right-hander Kendall Graveman. The 36-year-old will continue to receive regular maintenance days throughout the year to combat his growing list of injuries.

Albert Pujols (hamstring, ankle) is out again Wednesday versus the Astros.

Pujols tweaked his left hamstring Sunday in Oakland and is also still dealing with some ankle discomfort from three weeks ago. But he should avoid the disabled list. Mike Trout is at DH and C.J. Cron is starting at first base on Wednesday afternoon in Houston.
Jun 22 - 11:35 AM

Albert Pujols is out of the Angels' starting lineup on Tuesday due to hamstring and ankle issues.

Pujols rolled his left ankle three weeks ago in Pittsburgh and tweaked his left hamstring on Sunday in Oakland. "That's what happens when you get old," Pujols said Tuesday. "It seems like every time I'm feeling good, something creeps up." C.J. Cron is at first base and Jefry Marte is serving as the Angels' DH on Tuesday night against the Astros.
Jun 21 - 4:18 PM

Albert Pujols laced two singles in four at-bats on Saturday's victory over the Indians.

Pujols has been scuffling in the month of June. He was bad in April and hot in May. He hasn't been able to put together an extended streak yet. His batting average is poor at .236 but he does have 12 home runs and 41 RBI. He is no longer a fantasy superstar or even a star, but he does have enough left to carry a team for short periods once in a while. As soon as you give up on him you will regret it.
Jun 12 - 2:40 AM

Albert Pujols (ankle) went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in Monday's loss to the Yankees.

Pujols was in the lineup Monday after suffering a minor ankle injury in the final play of Sunday's game. He got the scoring going in the first inning with an RBI single. Pujols also added a walk, reaching base in three of four trips to the plate. The future Hall of Famer got off to an abysmal start this season, but he's now batting .297 with 10 homers and 30 RBI over his last 39 games.
Jun 6 - 9:57 PM

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Sunday that Albert Pujols suffered a minor ankle injury on the final play of Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Scioscia expects him to be fine, but he will head for further evaluation. He also slugged a two-run home to beat the Pirates on Sunday and is slashing .238/.319/.433 with 12 long balls and 39 RBI on the season.
Jun 5 - 5:06 PM

Albert Pujols slugged a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning as the Angels bested the Pirates 5-4 on Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.

Pujols stepped in against Pirates reliever Tony Watson with Kole Calhoun standing on first base and the Angels trailing by two. He promptly deposited a ball over the left-center field fence to give Anaheim the lead. It was the only hit of the game for Pujols, though he did collect another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first. He's slashing .238/.319/.433 with 12 homers and 39 RBI in 56 games this season.
Jun 5 - 5:01 PM

Albert Pujols belted a two-run homer in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Pujols launched a deep blast over the left-center field wall in the third inning and that proved to be the only runs Nick Tropeano and the Angels' bullpen needed. The future Hall of Famer sports an unappealing .228/.307/.409 batting line on the season, but he's on pace for 32 homers and 108 RBI.
May 23 - 11:40 PM

Albert Pujols went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a walk to lead the Angels past the Dodgers 7-6 on Monday.

Three-hit games for Pujols are rare now. In fact, this was his first of 2016. It was also just the third time since the beginning of 2014 that he reached base safely four times in a game. While he was once an OBP machine, that's just not his game these days.
May 17 - 3:06 AM

Albert Pujols hit a go-ahead three-run homer in Saturday's 9-7 win over the Mariners.

Pujols clocked his go-ahead three-run shot off of Mariners closer Steve Cishek with one out in the ninth. The Angels had trailed 7-6 entering the frame. Perhaps the epitome of the "veteran slugger," Pujols, 36, holds a paltry triple-slash of .203/.275/.391, but has also clobbered eight homers and driven in 23 runs over 138 at-bats. He has two homers and five RBI in his last three games.
May 15 - 1:13 AM

Albert Pujols launched a two-run homer in the ninth inning of Thursday's loss to the Cardinals.

The Cards took a 12-7 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, but Pujols made things interesting when he connected off Seth Maness for a two-run homer. That, plus an RBI single by Kole Calhoun, drew the home team to within two runs and forced Mike Matheny to bring in Trevor Rosenthal to settle things down. Rosenthal proceeded to load the bases, but that is a story for another blurb. Pujols is slashing just .194/.266/.372 with seven homers and 21 RBI over 129 at-bats. The power and RBI production, at least, continue to rage against the dying of the light.
