Albert Pujols had a two-run homer and an RBI single as the Angels came back to beat the Royals 5-4 on Friday.

Pujols has started all 15 games for the Angels and collected three homers and nine RBI. He's a viable mixed-league option as long as he's playing regularly and batting cleanup for one of the AL's better teams.

Albert Pujols belted a solo home run in the Angels' 8-3 defeat of the Rangers on Monday.

It was career home run No. 616 for Pujols, who also singled in the game, finishing 2-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored. The veteran slugger is batting .277 with a .753 OPS, two homers, and five RBI through 11 games this season for the Angels, who stand 8-3.
Apr 9 - 11:42 PM

Albert Pujols had an RBI double and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Athletics.

Pujols ripped a Kendall Graveman offering down the left field line, plating Mike Trout to give the Angels an early lead. He came around to score on a Kole Calhoun RBI single later in the frame. The 38-year-old has shown some signs of life early in the year, batting .262 in 10 games, but he's got just a .676 OPS to go with it. His best days left long ago.
Apr 8 - 7:49 PM

Albert Pujols went 1-for-3 with a three-run double, propelling the Angels to a 4-1 victory over the Dodgers on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Pujols' bases-clearing double came off Dodgers' starter Rich Hill during a four-run rally in the fourth inning. The 38-year-old is hitting .278 with one homer and eight RBI on the spring.
Mar 27 - 1:00 AM

Albert Pujols slugged his first homer of the spring Friday versus the Athletics.

It was a prodigious solo blast which actually left the stadium. Pujols slugged 23 homers while driving in 101 runs last year, but he got there while batting just .241/.286/.386 over 149 games. His .672 OPS was lower than the likes of Freddy Galvis and Brandon Crawford. Fantasy expectations should be modest at this stage of his career.
Mar 23 - 11:19 PM

Albert Pujols went 3-for-3 and drove in a run on Monday as the Angels topped the Mariners 8-4 in Cactus League play.

His run-scoring single came during a seven-run uprising in the fifth inning, increasing the Angels' lead to 4-1. The veteran slugger is now hitting .278 with seven RBI on the spring, though he has yet to hit his first home run.
Mar 20 - 12:57 AM

Albert Pujols went 0-for-1 with a walk in Saturday's Cactus League loss to the Mariners.

Pujols was one of just four Angels batters to reach base on the afternoon. His was the only walk drawn by the team on Saturday. The veteran slugger's overall bat has tailed off considerably over the past few seasons, but he has still hit at least 20 home runs with at least 100 RBI in three of the last four years. He should be good for decent power once again this coming season, but holds no fantasy intrigue until the later rounds of mixed league drafts.
Mar 17 - 7:05 PM

Albert Pujols went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts as the Angels were shut out by the Indians in Cactus League competition on Wednesday.

The veteran slugger has had a rough go of things this spring, hitting just .200 with a paltry .467 OPS. Still, he's locked into the DH spot in the middle of a loaded Angels' lineup behind the likes of Ian Kinsler, Mike Trout and Justin Upton, so he'll still drive in plenty of runs in 2018 as long as he remains healthy.
Mar 14 - 8:47 PM

Albert Pujols doubled twice in the Angels' 4-3 Cactus League win over the Reds on Monday.

Pujols has only one official multi-double game since May 28, 2013, so this was good to see. The veteran slugger is barely hanging on to fantasy relevance after batting just .241/.286/.386 across 636 plate appearances last year.
Mar 12 - 6:50 PM

Albert Pujols said Friday that he lost 12-15 pounds over the offseason.

It's been rare the last few years that Pujols has had an offseason with a normal workout routine -- as he had this winter -- rather than one where he's been rehabbing from surgery. It was a goal for the future Hall of Famer to improve his conditioning since he's projected to play more first base in 2018, and it appears he's accomplished what he set out to do. Pujols hit 23 homers and drove in 101 runs in 2017 but posted a career-worst .672 OPS.
Feb 16 - 11:47 AM

Albert Pujols said Sunday that improving his conditioning is his "main goal" for the offseason.

Pujols admitted that he might not have been in tip-top shape coming into the year after December foot surgery. It reflected in his lack of speed on the basepaths and his production. While he amassed 23 homers and 101 RBI, he posted a career-low .672 OPS. Pujols hopes to come back in better shape with a full offseason for conditioning. "Hopefully, start hitting a little bit earlier, start doing more weights, start doing my program like I normally do every year except the last couple, being hurt," said Pujols, who turns 38 in January. The future Hall of Famer is still owed $114 million over the next four seasons.

Albert Pujols hit his 23rd homer Wednesday against the Indians.

Pujols was showing signs of heating up at the beginning of the month, but he entered this one in a 4-for-29 funk. The homer was just his second in September. He is three RBI away from the century mark for the season.

Albert Pujols collected a pair of singles across four at-bats in Saturday's loss in Seattle.

The Angels might be on a three-game skid, but it is no fault of Pujols. He is 15-for-29 (.517) with a double and 11 RBI during the month of September while striking out just two times. He did not show any ill effects of the bone bruise in his left knee which kept him on the shelf on Wednesday.

Albert Pujols (knee) is back in the Angels' lineup Friday.

Pujols didn't play Wednesday due to a bone bruise in his left knee, but he feels well enough after the off day Thursday to give it a go. He's in the designated hitter spot and batting cleanup against Mike Leake and the Mariners.
