Albert Pujols (foot) said Sunday that his surgically-repaired right foot feels "really good" so far in early workouts.

Pujols has been hitting in the cage and doing agility drills, as well as running on an Ultra G treadmill. He can't run on the field yet and it will be a while before he's cleared for game action, but Pujols still has a good chance to be ready for Opening Day. "As long as you get your work, hitting and ground balls, that’s what gets you ready," Pujols said. "I don't think taking three or four at-bats in a game is what gets you ready. It’s the ground balls the first couple weeks and the extra hitting and when we do the sessions down around the (practice) field. Those are the things that get you ready. I'm more focused on the things I do in the cage than what I do in the game."

Albert Pujols (foot) said Tuesday that he can do everything but run.

Pujols is working his way back from December surgery for right plantar fasciitis. It's unclear when he'll begin running, but his status for Opening Day is still in question. We should know more in the coming weeks. He remains a risky fantasy play as he moves into his age-37 season.
Feb 14 - 1:22 PM

Angels GM Billy Eppler said it "remains to be seen" whether Albert Pujols (foot) will be ready for Opening Day.

Pujols underwent surgery in early December for right plantar fasciitis, a painful foot issue that has bothered the 10-time All-Star for much of his career. Newly-signed corner infielder Luis Valbuena could open the 2017 season as the Angels' primary first baseman, with C.J. Cron handling DH duties. Pujols batted just .268/.323/.457 in 2016 and is a risky fantasy bet for his age-37 campaign.

Angels general manager Billy Eppler said Albert Pujols (foot) has begun physical therapy.

Pujols underwent surgery in December on his right plantar fascia. He's expected to be limited for the start of spring training and might not be ready for Opening Day. Pujols turns 37 next week and batted .268/.323/.457 with 31 homers and 119 RBI over 152 games last season. He's now halfway through his megadeal with the Angels, but he's still owed $140 million over the next five years.

Albert Pujols underwent successful surgery on Friday to release his right plantar fascia.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina. The typical recovery time for this surgery is estimated at four months, which will impact his availability early in spring training as well as his regular off-season routine. This news should push Pujols down a couple of rounds in early fantasy drafts.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia announced Friday that Albert Pujols (foot) has been shut down for the remainder of the 2016 season.

The 36-year-old slugger has battled plantar fasciitis throughout the season, and at this point it seems like a wise call to simply let him rest and start the recovery process. Pujols also said that he plans to return as a first baseman next season, as he doesn't enjoy serving as the DH full-time. He finishes the season hitting .268/.323/.457 with 31 homers and 119 RBI in 152 games. It's his highest RBI total since his MVP campaign in 2009 with the Cardinals.

Albert Pujols (foot) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the A's.

Pujols has not played since Monday due to discomfort in his foot related to plantar fasciitis. Mike Trout will serve as the Angels' designated hitter on Wednesday while C.J. Cron mans first base. It is possible the veteran Pujols won't play again this season, but that has not yet been determined for certain.

Albert Pujols is out Tuesday against the Athletics due to renewed foot discomfort.

And his status for the Angels' final five games is to-be-determined, per Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Pujols has battled plantar fasciitis since his peak years with the Cardinals and it will flare up on him from time to time. Mike Trout is at DH and C.J. Cron is at first base on Tuesday night versus A's right-hander Daniel Mengden.

Albert Pujols will get the night off Tuesday.

Mike Trout is taking a turn at designated hitter and C.J. Cron will play first base versus the visiting Athletics. This appears to be a bit of routine rest for the veteran Pujols.

Albert Pujols finished 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and three runs scored Friday versus the Astros.

Pujols now has five multi-hit games in his last nine. He has improved his batting average from .261 to .269 in the process. The 36-year-old might not be the offensive force he once was, but fantasy owners aren’t going to complain about 31 homers and 116 RBI.

Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Astros.

Pujols connected for a two-run shot with one out in the first inning, burning Mike Fiers for the only runs in the 2-0 win. The veteran slugger is no longer a triple-slash monster with his .265/.320/.456 mark, but his counting stats have been fantastic. In 577 at-bats, Pujols has clocked 31 homers and driven in 116 runs. Those 116 RBI are the most he has picked up in a season since he drove in 118 in 2010.

Albert Pujols reached the 30 homer mark with a solo shot in Saturday's win over the Blue Jays.

It was the 14th time he has hit 30 bombs in his career. He is no longer the superstar he used to be but he can still help fantasy teams win. He is batting .263/.318/.455 with 111 RBI and 64 runs scored.

Albert Pujols clubbed his 29th home run of the season on Sunday, powering the Angels to a 4-2 victory over the Mariners.

Pujols and teammate C.J. Cron went back-to-back off Hisashi Iwakuma in the first inning. He added a pair of singles, finishing the day 3-for-4 to raise his season slash to .268/.326/.467 to go along with 29 long balls and 108 RBI.

Albert Pujols hit two monster home runs to lead the Angels over the Mariners 10-3 on Saturday.

He hit a solo blast as the back end of three consecutive Angels' home runs in the first inning. In the next frame he smoked a two-run bomb to left-center that scored Mike Trout ahead of him. Pujols has been battling a painful foot injury that has caused him to miss some games but hasn't affected his production at the plate. The 36-year-old is batting .264 with 28 home runs and 106 RBI.
