Albert Pujols went yard for the 30th time this year, but the Angels wound up losing on Wednesday to the Astros by a 6-3 score.

Jul 21 - 6:07 PM

Albert Pujols hit two home runs as the Angels beat the Red Sox in the second game of Monday's doubleheader.

Pujols also homered once in game one of the doubleheader. He now sits with 549, moving him past Mike Schmidt for 15th on baseball's all-time home run leaderboard. His first home run gave the Angels a 1-0 lead in the second inning, and his second homer pushed their lead to 7-2 in the seventh inning. Jul 21 - 12:51 AM

Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with a solo home run as the Angels routed the Red Sox in the first game of Monday's doubleheader.

Pujols took Eduardo Rodriguez yard in the second inning, the seventh run to come across in the frame. The blast ended Rodriguez's night. Pujols is now one home run away from matching last year's home run total of 28, and is on pace for 48. The 35-year-old has also knocked in 57 runs while hitting .256/.322/.533.
Jul 20 - 8:19 PM

Albert Pujols hit his American League-leading 26th home run against the Rockies on Tuesday.

Pujols and company took advantage of Rockies starter Chad Bettis for four home runs on the evening, with Pujols' first inning blast getting the show started. The homer was a three-run shot, and he finished 1-for-5 with three RBI in the contest. As the first half draws to a close, the 35-year-old is now hitting .264/.335/.561 with his 26 homers, 56 RBI and 51 runs scored.
Jul 8 - 12:32 AM

Albert Pujols will be a participant in the Home Run Derby.

Pujols has crushed 25 bombs thus far, after hitting 28 all of last season. It will be interesting to see if he can sustain this power barrage through the second half of the season. We don't subscribe to the idea that the Home Run Derby automatically wrecks power swings, but there have been several instances of players who entered the derby and saw their power legitimately drop off after the All-Star Break. Whether there's an actual correlation there, rather than simply a perceived one, is more difficult to determine.
Jul 7 - 5:34 PM

Albert Pujols will start at first base for the American League in next week's All-Star Game in place of the injured Miguel Cabrera (calf).

And deservedly so in what has been a big bounce-back season for the future Hall of Famer. The rest of AL reserves will be Brock Holt, Jose Iglesias, Jason Kipnis, Manny Machado, Mark Teixeira, Russell Martin, Stephen Vogt, Jose Bautista, Adam Jones, J.D. Martinez and Prince Fielder. Xander Bogaerts, Yoenis Cespedes, Brian Dozier, Brett Gardner and Mike Moustakas are the Final Vote candidates.
Jul 6 - 7:52 PM

Albert Pujols blasted his 25th home run of the season on Sunday as the Angels routed the Rangers 12-6 in Arlington.

Pujols finished the night 2-for-5. He had an RBI single as part of a three-run uprising in the first inning, then tagged Colby Lewis for a solo shot in the fourth to put the Halos up 8-1. He's having a terrific first half, slashing .265/.337/.557 with 25 bombs and 53 RBI.
Jul 5 - 10:20 PM

Albert Pujols went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, helping the Angels edge the Yankees on Tuesday.

Pujols tied the game at 1-1 when he ripped a solo home run to straightaway center field off of Ivan Nova. He has 24 on the season and seems like a good bet to cross the 40-homer threshold by season's end, which would be the first time he will have done that since 2010. Pujols has also knocked in 49 runs while batting .265/.332/.558.
Jul 1 - 12:49 AM

Albert Pujols blasted another pair of home runs, powering the Angels past the Astros on Monday in a 2-for-3 effort.

Pujols' first homer, a two-run shot off of Brett Oberholtzer, gave the Angels a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning. He homered again in the seventh to make it 3-1. The veteran has had a torrid June, now having drilled 12 homers in 20 games. He has a league-leading total of 23 on the season along with 47 RBI and a .275/.336/.581 triple-slash line.
Jun 23 - 1:34 AM

Albert Pujols hit a go-ahead grand slam in a 12-7 win over the Athletics on Friday night.

It was part of an eight-run seventh inning for the Angels. Pujols leads the American League with 20 homers, which includes 12 over his last 21 games.
Jun 20 - 2:28 PM

Albert Pujols slugged a two-run home run and walked in four plate appearances as the Angels topped the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Pujols turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead when he took Jeremy Hellickson yard in the sixth inning. Now with 19 home runs, eight of which have come in June, Pujols is the current American League leader. He's also batting .273/.326/.550 with 36 RBI.
Jun 17 - 12:52 AM

Albert Pujols went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in Sunday's loss to the A's.

Pujols scored Erick Aybar with a single off Sonny Gray in the fourth inning. It would be the only run the Angels scored in the game. The former all-universe star is absolutely melting the cover off the ball this month. He's slashing .378/.417/.889 with seven homers and 11 RBI in June.
Jun 14 - 7:08 PM

Albert Pujols slugged his 18th homer to lead the Angels to a 1-0 win over the Athletics on Saturday.

Pujols isn't the .330-hitting, on-base machine he once was, but maybe he does have one more 40-homer season in him at age 35. He's on pace for 47 right now. His career high is 49, established in just 143 games in 2006.
