Royals signed LHP Joe Beimel to a minor league contract.

The Royals could use the depth in Triple-A after Brian Duensing and David Huff recently left the organization. The 39-year-old Beimel was recently given a clean bill of health from Dr. James Andrews after a minor league deal with the Marlins fell through. The southpaw will have a couple of outings in Arizona before joining Omaha.

Joe Beimel received a clean bill of health from Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday.

Beimel had a minor league contract in place with the Marlins earlier this month, but Miami backed away from the deal after reviewing his medical records. The vote of confidence from Andrews might help Beimel get a shot with a different organization. The veteran left-hander battled shoulder problems last season and finished with a 3.99 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 47 1/3 innings with the Mariners.

According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, the Marlins decided to pass on Joe Beimel.

There were reports last week that the Marlins had reached a minor league agreement with Beimel, but something apparently fell apart before it could be finalized. Maybe his medicals didn't look promising. Beimel, 39, battled shoulder problems last season and finished with a 3.99 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 47 1/3 innings with the Mariners.

Marlins signed LHP Joe Beimel to a minor league contract.

Beimel auditioned for teams earlier this month and apparently caught the eye of the Fish. He'll head to extended spring training for a bit and will likely then report to Triple-A New Orleans. The veteran left-hander posted a 3.99 ERA across 47 1/3 innings last season for Seattle while battling shoulder problems.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Joe Beimel is auditioning for interested teams this week.

Beimel is 39 years old and had some shoulder problems in 2015, but he should be able to find an opportunity somewhere. The free agent left-hander holds a 3.12 ERA, 1.278 WHIP, and 47/30 K/BB ratio over his last 92 1/3 major league innings dating back to the beginning of the 2014 season.

Joe Beimel (shoulder) is expected back from the disabled list when first eligible on September 4.

Mariners placed LHP Joe Beimel on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 20, with posterior inflammation in his left shoulder.

Beimel admitted after giving up back-to-back-back home runs in his last appearance Wednesday that he was hurting. It appears that he doesn't have any structural damage, but it's not known how long he'll be sidelined.

Joe Beimel acknowledged after Wednesday's loss to the Rangers that he's been experiencing arm discomfort.

Beimel gave up back-to-back-back home runs in the seventh inning while recording just one out. He said after the game that he was feeling a "grabbing" sensation on some of his throws. The lefty will probably be shut down.

Joe Beimel was shelled in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Rangers, allowing three home runs in the seventh inning while recording just one out.

Beimel replaced starter Mike Montgomery to open the seventh, which then unfolded as follows: Shin-Soo Choo hit-by-pitch, line out, two-run homer by Mitch Moreland, solo home run by Mike Napoli, solo home run by Elvis Andrus. Exit stage left. Beimel now holds a 4.78 ERA, but this back-to-back-to-back home run spree will likely be what he's remembered for when the season ends.
