Joe Beimel has auditioned for teams and is hoping to make a comeback.

Beimel, who underwent Tommy John surgery last May, has a career 4.21 ERA over parts of 11 seasons. The 35-year-old is expected to be seeking a minor league deal.

Joe Beimel (elbow) has resumed throwing off a mound.

Beimel underwent Tommy John surgery in May and didn't throw a pitch in the majors this season. However, he's making a comeback and should be able to land a spring training invite somewhere.

Joe Beimel had Tommy John surgery this month.

The left-hander was released by the Rangers at the end of spring training and failed to latch on with another team. Beimel is hoping to continue his playing career once he heals from the reconstructive elbow procedure.

Rangers released LHP Joe Beimel.

Biemel allowed three runs over six innings (4.50 ERA) this spring while striking out five and walking two. The veteran southpaw entered camp with a chance at a left-handed specialist job, but the Rangers now appear likely to go with 22-year-old Robbie Ross.

Jose Beimel (elbow) tossed a one-inning simulated game Monday morning in Rangers camp.

Beimel threw 15 pitches -- 11 of which were strikes -- in the short outing. He's been slowed by tightness in his pitching elbow but has plenty of time to get his work in before the start of the 2012 regular season. The 34-year-old left-hander is trying to win a spot in the Texas 'pen.

Joe Beimel (elbow) is schedule to throw in an intrasquad game Monday.

Beimel was cleared after going through live batting practice Saturday without any issues. Assuming he doesn't have any setbacks, Beimel has a good shot to make the Rangers' Opening Day roster as a non-roster invitee.

Joe Beimel (elbow) is expected to face live hitters Saturday.

Beimel was shut down for a few days last week while dealing with some tightness in his pitching elbow, but he's felt fine the last couple days and doesn't think it will be an issue going forward. The veteran southpaw is trying to win a roster spot as a non-roster invitee.

Joe Beimel (elbow) is aiming to resume throwing off flat ground Wednesday in Rangers camp.

Beimel has been shut down for the past couple of days due to stiffness in his left elbow. The 34-year-old non-roster invitee is trying to win a spot in Texas' bullpen.

Joe Beimel will be shut down for at least 2-3 days due to stiffness in his left elbow.

It's concerning because Beimel missed a couple months of action last year while dealing with inflammation in his pitching elbow. At this point, though, it doesn't appear that an MRI has been scheduled. The non-roster invitee is trying to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster with a strong spring, but he's not off to a good start.

Rangers signed LHP Joe Beimel to a minor league contract.

He'll also get an invite to spring training. Beimel batted an elbow injury last season and posted a 4.81 ERA and 17/8 K/BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings with the Pirates before being released in late-August. The Rangers have a quality bullpen already, but not much in the way of depth from the left side. He has a legitimate shot at making the roster with an impressive spring.

Pirates released LHP Joe Beimel.

Beimel was designated for assignment by the Pirates last week after posting a 4.81 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 17/8 K/BB ratio in 24 1/3 major league innings. The left-hander might draw some interest from contenders.

Pirates designated LHP Joe Beimel for assignment.

Beimel, 34, registered a 4.81 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 17/8 K/BB ratio in 24 1/3 innings for the Bucs this season. As a lefty specialist, he could draw interest from other teams.

Pirates activated LHP Joe Beimel from the 15-day disabled list.

Beimel has been sidelined since late May with elbow inflammation, but he looked good during a rehab assignment and, more importantly, is healthy. He'll be used as the Pirates' primary late-inning left-hander.

Joe Beimel (elbow) appeared in two straight rehab games this weekend with Double-A Altoona.
