May 29 - 6:26 PM

Mariners purchased the contract of LHP Joe Beimel from Triple-A Tacoma.

He was summoned after allowing just one baserunner and striking out five over 3 2/3 frames at Tacoma. Beimel will be used in a lefty specialist role.
May 4 - 6:29 PM

Mariners signed LHP Joe Beimel to a minor league contract.

Beimel had a 2.20 ERA over 56 appearances with the Mariners last season but was released by the Rangers last week after allowing 14 runs -- 11 earned -- over three spring innings. Slated to turn 38 later this month, Beimel should eventually find himself on the major league roster if he gets off to a good start at Triple-A.
Apr 2 - 7:30 PM

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York hears that the Mets are unlikely to pursue reliever Joe Beimel.

Beimel was given his release by the Rangers on Monday after an awful spring and the Mets have a lot of uncertainty with left-handed relievers in camp, but apparently they are content looking at other options. The 37-year-old southpaw had a 2.20 ERA and 25/14 K/BB ratio in45 innings across 56 appearances with the Mariners last season.
Mar 24 - 10:25 AM

Rangers released LHP Joe Beimel.

The Rangers signed Beimel to a one-year, $1.5 million contract, but it wasn't guaranteed and he pitched himself out of a job this month. The 37-year-old had a 2.20 ERA over 56 appearances with the Mariners last season and shouldn't need much time to find another opportunity.
Mar 23 - 5:54 PM

Rangers signed LHP Joe Beimel to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

It's a major league deal, but Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News notes that it's not guaranteed. He can earn more through incentives. After not appearing the majors for two seasons, Beimel posted a 2.20 ERA over 56 appearances in 2014 for the Mariners (though he struck out only 25 across 45 innings). It's a solid late signing by the Rangers, as they needed left-handed relief help.
Mar 6 - 1:46 PM

In an interview with 710ESPN Seattle, Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik admitted talking to free agent southpaw Joe Beimel, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.

The 37-year-old hurler remains one of the top left-handed bullpen arms remaining on the market after compiling a 2.20 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 45 innings with the Mariners in 2014. Time is running out, but he should still be able to secure a major league deal before the start of spring training.
Feb 14 - 12:14 AM

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that the market on Joe Beimel is "thawing."

He adds that three teams are currently interested in the lefty, "with more likely to jump in." The Mariners are known to be interest in bringing Beimel back, but it sounds like they could face some competition. Beimel held a 2.20 ERA in 45 innings for Seattle last season.
Jan 30 - 5:07 PM

Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik said Thursday that Joe Beimel is "possibly" still on the club's radar.

Beimel rejuvenated his career in 2014 with Seattle, posting a 2.20 ERA in 45 innings of relief after making zero appearances at the big level between 2011-2013. The 37-year-old left-hander may be seeking a multi-year contract in what could be his final shot at major league free agency, and the M's would probably rather do a one-year deal.
Jan 22 - 2:04 PM

Mariners purchased the contract of LHP Joe Beimel from Triple-A Tacoma.

Beimel made the team after allowing just two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings this spring. He'll team with Charlie Furbush as the club's second left-hander.

Joe Beimel (elbow) said that he felt 100 percent after throwing a perfect inning in Thursday's Cactus League contest against the Cubs.

The veteran southpaw had gone twelve days between appearances while dealing with inflammation in his surgically repaired elbow. He's still in the mix to earn a spot in the M's bullpen.

Mariners signed LHP Joe Beimel to a minor league contract.

The deal includes an invitation to spring training. The 36-year-old southpaw is now fully recovered from Tommy John surgery and has reportedly regained his velocity. He hasn't appeared in the major leagues since he was a member of the Pirates in 2011 and spent the 2013 season at Triple-A Gwinnett where he posted a 4.36 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 24/16 K/BB ratio in 33 innings.

The Braves have promoted Joe Beimel to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Beimel had been in extended spring training as he worked his way back from Tommy John surgery. With both Jonny Venters and Eric O'Flaherty on the shelf, the left-hander could eventually be an option for the Braves' bullpen.
