Red Sox signed RHP Brandon Duckworth to a minor league contract.
Duckworth, 34, posted a 3.32 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 105 2/3 innings this past year for the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate. The righty will serve as quality organizational depth for the Red Sox next season. Thu, Dec 2, 2010 05:14:00 PM

Phillies signed RHP Brandon Duckworth to a minor league contract.

The deal does not include an invitation to spring training, so Duckworth will have to fight his way to the big leagues via Triple-A. He's posted a 3.88 ERA over 11 minor league seasons but has a 5.28 ERA in 511 frames on the major league level. It's doubtful he'll have any value this year.

Royals reassigned RHP Brandon Duckworth, RHP Roman Colon and LHP Tim Hamulack to Triple-A Omaha; optioned OF Mitch Maier to Triple-A Omaha.

Jamey Wright, Doug Waechter and Robinson Tejeda claimed the final three spots in the pen, though only Wright had a better spring than the above group. Incredibly, Tejeda had a 27/17 K/BB ratio to go along with his 6.23 ERA in 17 1/3 innings.

Royals signed RHP Brandon Duckworth to a one-year contract and outrighted him to Triple-A Omaha.

You rarely see it, but this isn't a bad way to handle mediocre veterans. The Royals wanted to keep Duckworth around, but they didn't want to use a 40-man roster spot on him. This gets him some guaranteed money, yet also gives the Royals a little more flexibility. Duckworth, who turns 33 this winter, has seen action with Kansas City in three straight years. He went 3-3 with a 4.50 ERA in seven starts for Kansas City last season.

Brandon Duckworth allowed three runs over five innings Sunday in his first start major league start since September 1, 2007.

Duckworth was awarded the victory, but he was awfully shaky. 11 of the 24 batters he faced reached base and he didn't record a strikeout. His next start, most likely against the Tigers again, could be real trouble.

Royals recalled RHP Brandon Duckworth from Triple-A Oklahoma.

Duckworth will start Sunday against the Tigers. He replaces the injured Luke Hochevar in the starting rotation. The 32-year-old was 5-11 with a 4.75 ERA at Triple-A and isn't much of a fantasy option.

According to the Kansas City Star, the Royals will call up Brandon Duckworth from Triple-A to start Sunday against the Tigers.

Duckworth made 26 appearances for the Royals last season, but has spent all of this year at Triple-A, going 5-11 with a 4.75 ERA and 103/49 K/BB ratio in 134 2/3 innings. He's filling Luke Hochevar's spot in the rotation and has a pretty good chance of being lit up by Miguel Cabrera and company.

Royals designated RHP Brandon Duckworth for assignment.

The move was done to make room for Brett Tomko. Duckworth will likely accept the assignment if he clears waivers and compete for a job in spring training.

Royals agreed to terms with RHP Brandon Duckworth on a one-year contract.

Duckworth hardly seems worthy of the 40-man roster spot, but the Royals have a soft spot for him. He's given up 66 runs -- 55 earned -- and posted a 48/47 K/BB ratio in 92 1/3 innings for the team over the last two years.

Brandon Duckworth, freshly activated off the DL, took a beating Saturday, surrendering eight hits and six runs -- five earned -- in 4 1/3 innings.

That's about what we expected. Duckworth struck out two, walked two and hit one in his fourth loss of the season as his ERA shot up to 3.79.

Royals activated RHP Brandon Duckworth from the 15-day disabled list.

Duckworth will start versus the Twins today.

Brandon Duckworth (oblique) is expected to come off the disabled list Saturday against the Twins.

Duckworth tossed seven scoreless innings in his final minor league rehab start Sunday at Triple-A, but remains a poor fantasy option.

Brandon Duckworth (oblique) threw seven scoreless innings in a minor league rehab start Sunday at Triple-A.

Out since June 14, Duckworth is expected to come off the disabled list soon and could slide into the Royals' rotation.

Brandon Duckworth (left oblique) will continue to rehab in Arizona before eventually making a couple rehab appearances with Single-A Wilmington.

The Royals want Duckworth to stretch his arm out so he can return to the rotation if the team needs him to.

Brandon Duckworth is scheduled to throw from a mound Monday for the first time since suffering a torn left oblique in a June 13 appearance against the Cardinals.

Duckworth threw again Saturday from flat ground but contends he won’t be able to gauge his recovery until he begins throwing from a mound. "That will be the real test," he said, "when I start throwing from angles."
