Pirates re-signed RHP Jorge Julio to a minor league contract.
The deal does not come with an invitation to spring training, so Julio will almost certainly begin 2011 in the minors. The 31-year-old hasn't pitched in a major league game since 2009, when he had a 7.79 ERA in two months with Milwaukee. Chances are he won't have an impact in Pittsburgh this year. Pirates signed RHP Jorge Julio to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Julio was cut by the Rays after posting a 5.96 ERA in 19 appearances for Triple-A Durham. He had a 7.79 ERA for the Brewers during the first two months of the season.

Rays signed RHP Jorge Julio to a minor league contract, and assigned him to Triple-A Durham.

The Rays dumped Chad Orvella to make room on Durham's roster. Julio began the season with the Brewers, but was released after posting a 7.79 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 13/15 K/BB in 17 1/3 innings. It's hard to see him fitting in with the Rays, but we shall see.

Brewers released RHP Jorge Julio.

Julio had a 7.79 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 13/15 K/BB ratio for the Brewers this season. He failed to retire any of the six batters he faced Monday night, which obviously didn't sit well with upper management. Milwaukee is still on the hook for the remainder of his one-year, $950,000 contract.

Jorge Julio is guaranteed $950,000 under the terms of his deal with the Brewers.

He can earn an extra $950,000 in incentives, including $600,000 based on games and $300,000 based on games finished, which he'd only reach if he becomes the Brewers' closer.

Brewers signed RHP Jorge Julio, who had been with the Braves, to a one-year contract.

Julio had to settle for a minor league deal last year after a nice 2007 with the Rockies. He made the Indians out of spring training, but struggled and got cut. He didn't resurface until September, when he allowed one run in 12 1/3 innings for the Braves. That was enough to get him a major league deal this time around. It's probably not worth much more than $1 million, so it's a decent enough signing. Julio is a tough guy to trust when the game is on the line, but he's a perfectly adequate middle reliever.

Jorge Julio made an 11th straight scoreless appearance for the Braves on Saturday.

He threw a scoreless eighth against the Astros. After spending most of the year in the minors, Julio has allowed one run and nine hits in 12 1/3 innings for the Braves this month. One would think that'd be enough to get him a guaranteed contract as a free agent this winter.

Braves purchased the contract of RHP Jorge Julio from Triple-A Richmond.

Julio had a 2.04 ERA and 13 saves in 38 2/3 innings for Richmond after being let go by the Indians at the end of May. He should be more useful than Elmer Dessens in the middle of Atlanta's pen.

Indians designated RHP Jorge Julio for assignment.

Julio won a bullpen spot with a strong spring training, but posted a 5.60 ERA and 15/11 K/BB ratio in 17 2/3 innings.

Indians purchased the contract of RHP Jorge Julio.

Julio won a bullpen spot with a 1.64 ERA this spring. He'll be an adequate, though likely inconsistent, middle reliever in a deep Cleveland bullpen.

Jorge Julio returned to the mound Friday and threw two scoreless innings against the Braves.

Tom Mastny followed him by giving up a run in an inning. Julio, who was pitching for the first time since leaving Monday's game with a blister, has given up five runs -- two earned -- in nine innings. Mastny has given up nine runs in 11 innings. The two pitchers are competing for one spot in Cleveland's pen.

Jorge Julio left Monday's game in the eighth inning with a blister on his right index finger.

"It started in the seventh and got bigger," Julio said. "With the off day today, it should be all right in a couple of days." Julio was already in danger of not making the Opening Day roster, so any sort of significant time on the sidelines might crush his chances.

Jorge Julio struck out four batters in the seventh inning and then left with an apparent injury in the eighth Monday against the Phillies.

The door appeared to be open for Julio to capitalize on Tom Mastny's poor outing Sunday, and perhaps he tried a little too hard as a result. Any sort of injury could wreck his chances of making the team.

Indians signed RHP Jorge Julio to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

It's very surprising Julio couldn't land a major league deal after posting a 3.93 ERA and a 50/20 K/BB ratio in 52 2/3 innings for the Rockies last season. He's joining an Indians team that appears to already have six bullpen spots spoken for. He'll be in competition with Tom Mastny for the one opening, assuming that everyone gets through the spring healthy.

Jorge Julio (sore neck) has been told he won't be included on the 25-man roster for the NLCS.

"It's tough, but I understand," Julio told The Denver Post. Ryan Speier has essentially replaced Julio as the setup man for the Rockies.
