Endy Chavez has been scratched from the Mariners starting lineup on Saturday due to a jammed finger.

The injury doesn't sound as though it will require a trip to the disabled list, so consider him day-to-day. Corey Hart will get the start in right field in his place.
Jul 26 - 3:37 PM

Endy Chavez had a double and two walks, scoring all three times he reached base, in Tuesday's monster victory over the Astros.

Chavez scored runs in the first, sixth and seventh innings as the Mariners plated 13 runs on the evening. Since June 23, the outfielder is batting .370 (10-for-27) with seven runs scored and five RBI. The M's are playing good baseball and playing time is hard to come by in a crowded Mariners outfield, but Chavez will likely command more at-bats going forward if he continues to produce at a similar clip.
Jul 1 - 11:59 PM

Making his third career start at DH, Endy Chavez went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer of the year Friday against the Indians.

Chavez went 1,073 career games without ever starting at DH before doing so three times this month for the Mariners. Obviously, they'd prefer to have Corey Hart or Logan Morrison in that spot, but with Hart and Justin Smoak on the DL, Morrison has been the primary first baseman of late. Chavez has gone 8-for-16 with five RBI in his last four starts for the Mariners. Obviously, that's a big boost for the team in the short term. For the long haul, it wouldn't be so great if he continued to receive playing time.
Jun 28 - 1:34 AM

Endy Chavez went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

Despite the Mariners being thin on outfielders, Sunday's start was Chavez' first in three days as he's struggled at the plate recently. He made his case for another start, as he doubled to lead off the first inning before singling and scoring in the fifth. The 36-year-old is not an option for fantasy purposes.
Jun 15 - 8:39 PM

Endy Chavez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in a win over the Rays on Sunday.

Chavez broke a scoreless tie in the ninth inning with an RBI single, and he later scored on James Jones' triple. Chavez had two hits in a start Saturday as well, possibly earning a few more starts in the coming week with his good hitting. He's still nothing more than a part-time player, and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
Jun 8 - 5:21 PM

Mariners purchased the contract of OF Endy Chavez from Triple-A Tacoma.

Chavez is in the Mariners starting lineup and hitting leadoff against the Tigers on Friday. The 36-year-old outfielder was hitting .272/.346/.289 with six RBI in 37 games at Tacoma.
May 30 - 7:24 PM

Mariners re-signed OF Endy Chavez to a minor league contract.

The M's released Chavez on Tuesday afternoon to avoid paying him a $100,000 retention bonus, but in less than an hour the two sides worked out a new minor league pact. Chavez will open the 2014 season at Triple-A Tacoma.
Mar 25 - 4:41 PM

Mariners released OF Endy Chavez.

The M's declined to pay a $100,000 retention bonus to keep the veteran outfielder around. Chavez posted a .687 OPS in 15 games this spring in the Cactus League.
Mar 25 - 4:23 PM

Mariners signed OF Endy Chavez to a minor league contract.

The deal includes an invitation to spring training. Chavez batted .267/.290/.327 in 97 games with the M's last season. The 35-year-old will try to stick with the Mariners as a reserve outfielder.
Jan 22 - 10:47 PM

Chavez left Thursday's game against the Red Sox after experiencing tightness in his groin. He is fine.

Endy Chavez left Thursday's game against the Red Sox with right groin tightness.

Chavez apparently suffered the injury after he reached on a bunt single in the bottom of the fourth inning. Dustin Ackley replaced him on the basepaths. The Mariners should have a better idea about his status after the game.

Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Endy Chavez will get the bulk of the starts in center field with both Franklin Gutierrez and Michael Saunders on the disabled list.

Saunders could be back this weekend, so it will be a short run as a starter for Chavez. Jason Bay will back up in center.

Hitting in the leadoff spot, Endy Chavez came through in a spot start Thursday against the Tigers, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single.

The Mariners got to Justin Verlander with a pair of runs in the seventh on Chavez's single and Kyle Seager's RBI double. That was all they needed with Hisashi Iwakuma putting up another brilliant performance. Chavez has five hits in 16 at-bats since being called up by the M's a week ago.
