According to Bill Ladson of MLB.com, Alex Cintron may attempt a comeback.
Cintron announced his retirement in May, but his agent Burton Rocks tells Ladson that he is reconsidering. The 32-year-old hasn't played in the major leagues since 2009, so he'll have to serve as organizational depth at the minor league level if he wants to continue this career. Padres INF Alex Cintron announced his retirement.

Cintron signed a minor league contract with the Padres earlier this month but obviously wasn't in their plans. The 32-year-old played for the Diamondbacks, White Sox, Orioles and Nationals between 2001-2009, posting a career .275/.313/.394 slash line with 222 RBI over 2,217 plate appearances.

Padres signed INF Alex Cintron to a minor league contract.

Cintron signed a similar deal with the Nationals in February but never made his way to the big league roster and will now give it a go with the Friars. The 32-year-old batted just .228/.278/.298 with three RBI over 61 plate appearances last season at the Triple-A level.

Nationals signed INF Alex Cintron to a minor league contract.

He'll also get an invite to spring training. Cintron, 31, played 20 games with Triple-A Buffalo in the Mets organization last season, batting .228/.278/.298 with one home run and three RBI over 61 plate appearances. He hasn't appeared in the big leagues since early on in the 2009 season as a member of the Nationals.

Mets signed infielder Alex Cintron to a minor league contract.

Cintron, 31, managed just two singles in 28 plate appearances last season for the Nationals before getting designated for assignment. He did not resurface in the majors and probably won't land on the Mets' roster.

Nationals designated infielder Alex Cintron for assignment.

Cintron was called up in mid-April to fill in for the injured Cristian Guzman, but had just two hits and no RBI in 26 at-bats. At age 30, he simply didn't fit in with the rebuilding project going on in Washington.

Nationals purchased the contract of infielder Alex Cintron from Triple-A Syracuse.

Cintron, who failed to make the Nats after hitting .316/.350/.632 this spring, takes Cristian Guzman's roster spot. He shouldn't have any fantasy value while serving as a backup at shortstop and second base.

Alex Cintron will be sent to Triple-A Syracuse when the Nationals make their final cuts.

The Nats still have 36 players in camp, but manager Manny Acta probably won't announce who's off the final roster until Saturday or Sunday. Cintron hit .316/.350/.632 this spring with one home run and seven RBI in 38 at-bats.

Alex Cintron tripled twice and drove in four runs to lead the Nationals to a 6-3 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Cintron is 11-for-33 with three triples and three doubles. It appears that his only chance of making the Nats hinges on Anderson Hernandez beginning the season on the disabled list, but it's possible that someone else will want him. For instance, the team he had his big game against today is short an infielder or two.

Orioles activated shortstop Alex Cintron from the 15-day disabled list.

Cintron will battle Juan Castro and Brandon Fahey for playing time at shortstop. He was hitting .275/.296/.391 in 69 at-bats before going down. Sadly, he is the best hitter of the current options.

Alex Cintron (hamstring) is considered five or six days away from playing.

Depending on how he does fielding ground balls and taking batting practice, the Orioles might send him on a rehab assignment at that point.

Orioles placed infielder Alex Cintron on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

Cintron was injured last night. The Orioles will go with Brandon Fahey and Freddie Bynum at shortstop for now, but a trade for Felipe Lopez may still be a possibility.

Alex Cintron left Monday's game in the seventh inning with a strained left hamstring.

The O's could bring back either Oscar Salazar or Freddie Bynum if Cintron lands on the disabled list. It'd also give them more incentive to finalize a deal for Felipe Lopez.

The Orioles continue to look for a shortstop despite the presence of Alex Cintron.

Cintron is hitting .326 with an OPS of .774, but the Orioles know he's miscast as an everyday shortstop. "We're going to continue to evaluate our internal options and we're going to continue to look outside the organization as well to see if we can find something. We're not really satisfied with the productivity we've gotten out of that position to this point," president Andy MacPhail said.

Orioles manager Dave Trembley said Thursday that he plans to give Alex Cintron more time at shortstop.

Incumbent Freddie Bynum is hitting just .158 in 15 games this month, and Cintron will likely start to see the majority of starts against left-handed pitchers. As poor as Baltimore's shortstops have hit this season, more at-bats against righties could follow. Cintron is hitting .342/.359/.447 in 38 at-bats so far this season, but those numbers will come down.
