Chien-Ming Wang threw seven scoreless innings Sunday in a win against the Rangers.
Wang has a 3.14 ERA in two starts since he opted out of his contract with the Yankees last week. He limited the Rangers' offense to just five hits and two walks and managed five strikeouts in his first major league win since 2012. Wang is scheduled to make his next start Saturday against the Orioles. Jun 16 - 6:20 PM

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Chien-Ming Wang from Triple-A Buffalo.

Wang opted out of his contract with the Yankees last Friday and quickly latched on with the Blue Jays. The 33-year-old right-hander will make the start Tuesday night against the White Sox, but he shouldn't be an option in most fantasy leagues.
Jun 11 - 3:19 PM

Blue Jays signed RHP Chien-Ming Wang to a minor league contract.

Wang opted out of his deal with the Yankees on Friday to sign with Toronto and will join the Blue Jays' rotation on Tuesday for a start against the White Sox. The Jays aren't making him any guarantees beyond that one outing and he is not to be trusted in standard fantasy formats.
Jun 10 - 10:29 AM

Yankees released RHP Chien-Ming Wang.

Wang has elected to opt out of his minor league deal and will sign on with the Blue Jays to start on Tuesday. The sinkerballer has posted a 2.33 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over nine starts at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but he was bad for the Nationals last season and is doubtful to be a productive fantasy option.
Jun 7 - 1:49 PM

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that Chien-Ming Wang isn't planning on opting out of his minor league deal with the Yankees at this time.

Wang has the option to opt out on May 31, June 30, and August 10 and 31 if he so chooses, but so far none of the reportedly six teams interested in him is offering a major league deal. That could always change, but for now it looks like he'll remain at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. It was reportedly previously that the Orioles were one of the clubs interested in the sinkerballer.
May 31 - 12:03 PM

The Orioles are one of several teams keeping tabs on Chien-Ming Wang.

Wang is able to opt out of his contract with the Yankees Friday. He might do so, given that he doesn't appear to be poised for a call-up despite a 2.65 ERA over eight Triple-A starts. The O's would have competition for the right-hander's services.
May 31 - 9:05 AM

Chien-Ming Wang has opted to stay with the Yankees following the first opt-out date in his minor league contract.

Wang's agent, Alan Chang, confirmed the news to Focus Taiwan. Wang has compiled a 0.95 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio in 19 innings over three starts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and reportedly showed improved velocity in his most recent outing. While he'll stick around as rotation depth for now, his contract has future opt-out dates of May 31, June 30, and August 10 and 31.
May 1 - 12:06 PM

Yankees signed RHP Chien-Ming Wang to a minor league contract.

The deal was first reported by CBS Sports' Jon Heyman on Friday and is now official. Wang returns to the Yankees after spending parts of the last two seasons with the Nationals. The 32-year-old right-hander will open this year at the Triple-A level, but could make his way into the big league rotation at some point in 2013.
Mar 23 - 12:21 PM

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Yankees have agreed to terms with free agent Chien-Ming Wang.

Wang returns to the place he began his MLB career (and posted a 55-26 record over five seasons). It's likely to be a minor league deal, but there's an opportunity for the 32-year-old right-hander to make his way into the rotation at some point in the 2013 season if he pitches well at Triple-A.
Mar 22 - 9:01 PM

Chien-Ming Wang will throw for scouts Wednesday at the Yankees' minor league complex.

Contrary to an earlier report, the Yankees haven't signed Wang, but they simply want to see if he is a viable option. Wang's agent, Alan Chang, told Ken Davidoff of the New York Post on Wednesday that his client has been in touch with multiple teams. The 32-year-old right-hander had a 6.68 ERA and 15/15 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings with the Nationals last season and will likely have to settle for a minor league deal.
Mar 20 - 11:10 AM

Chien-Ming Wang's agent, Alan Chang, told Ken Davidoff of the New York Post that his client is in talks with a number of teams and hasn't made a decision about where to sign.

Josh Norris of the Trentonian passed along word Wednesday morning that it appeared Wang was returning to the Yankees, but it's not a done deal yet. Chang confirmed that the Yankees are among the teams he has spoken with, but there's no timetable on a decision.
Mar 20 - 10:42 AM

Josh Norris of the Trentonian hears that Chien-Ming Wang has reached an agreement to return to the Yankees.

The news hasn't been confirmed by the team, but the Yankees reportedly had scouts in attendance for Wang's recent start during the World Baseball Classic. Wang, who pitched with the Yankees from 2005-2009, had a 6.68 ERA and 15/15 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings with the Nationals last season. It would almost certainly be a minor league deal.
Mar 20 - 10:27 AM

The Yankees were among the teams in attendance Friday for Chien-Ming Wang's start against Australia in the World Baseball Classic.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but the Yankees could be in the market for rotation depth with Phil Hughes (back) a question mark for the start of the season. Wang allowed four hits, walked none and struck out two over six scoreless innings in the win. He's hoping to land a minor league deal by auditioning for teams at the WBC.
Mar 2 - 9:49 AM

Free agent Chien-Ming Wang pitched six scoreless innings Friday as Chinese Taipei beat Australia 4-1 to kick off the World Baseball Classic.

Auditioning for a major league job, Wang allowed four hits, walked none and struck out two. Thanks to three double plays, he managed to get through six innings without exceeding the first-round, 65-pitch limit. Wang's velocity wasn't particularly good tonight; the stadium gun showed him at 82-83 mph, though it was almost surely slow. Wang averaged 91 mph with his fastball with the Nationals last season.
Mar 2 - 2:32 AM

George A. King III of the New York Post reports that the Yankees will have scouts watching Chien-Ming Wang when he pitches for Taiwan during the World Baseball Classic.

General manager Brian Cashman said he hasn’t been in contact with Wang’s representatives, but it sounds like the club is at least considering adding the right-hander for depth purposes. Wang, of course, spent the first five seasons of his career in pinstripes, winning 19 games for the Bombers in back-to-back seasons. He's posted a 4.94 ERA over just 94 2/3 frames since 2010 while being plagued by shoulder issues.
