Blue Jays reassigned RHP Rick Bauer to minor league camp.

Bauer had a nice 2006 with the Rangers, but he's been unable to stick since. He gave up six runs in 4 2/3 innings this spring.

Rick Bauer refused his assignment to Triple-A and elected to become a free agent.

The 31-year-old Bauer struggled with the Indians, allowing nine runs in just six innings, but he had posted a 1.54 ERA with 15 saves at Triple-A. He likely figures he'll receive interest from a team in need of some bullpen depth.

Indians designated RHP Rick Bauer for assignment.

Bauer put up fantastic numbers at Triple-A prior to being called up in early June, but gets cut loose after posting a 13.50 ERA in six innings with the Indians. The 31-year-old figures to clear waivers.

Indians purchased the contract of RHP Rick Bauer from Triple-A Buffalo.

Bauer had a 1.54 ERA and 15 saves as Buffalo's closer. He also had an impressive spring, so it's surprising it's taken him this long to get an opportunity.

Indians reassigned RHP Rick Bauer, RHP J.D. Martin, RHP Jeff Stevens, C Chris Gimenez, 1B Jordan Brown, 3B Beau Mills and OF Trevor Crowe to minor league camp; optioned RHP Edward Mujica and C Wyatt Toregas to Triple-A Buffalo.

Bauer's departure this early is a surprise. At the very least, he figured to outlast Scott Elarton. The former Ranger shouldn't have been far behind Tom Mastny and Jorge Julio in the competition for the final spot in Cleveland's bullpen. Mujica also could have been in that mix, but he had an 11.81 ERA this spring.

Indians signed RHP Rick Bauer, RHP Jeff Harris and catcher Yamid Haad to minor league contracts and invited them to spring training.

Bauer had a 3.55 ERA in 58 appearances for the Rangers in 2006, but he spent all of 2007 in the minors, first with the Phillies and later with the Dodgers. He'll be a long shot to win a spot in middle relief during spring training, though that still makes him a better bet than Harris or Haad.

The Indians are close to signing minor league free agent Rick Bauer.

Bauer had a nice year for the Rangers in 2006, posting a 3.55 ERA in 58 appearances, but he didn't make the team last spring and he had a rough year as a Triple-A reliever for the Phillies and Dodgers. He'll be a long shot to make the Indians.

Phillies signed RHP Rick Bauer to a minor league contract.

Bauer needs to head to the minors for a couple of weeks and work through whatever ailed him this spring, but it's a nice pickup for the Phillies. The 30-year-old middle reliever had a 3.55 ERA in 58 appearances for the Rangers last season.

Rangers waived RHP Rick Bauer for the purposes of giving him his unconditional release.

He'll be owed a quarter of the $730,000 he was due this year. Bauer had an awful spring, but he was an asset for the Rangers in middle relief last year. He shouldn't be out of work for long.

Rangers designated RHP Rick Bauer for assignment.

Bauer was expected to have a bullpen spot after posting a 3.55 ERA in 58 appearances last year, but he gave up 15 runs -- 11 earned -- in 6 1/3 innings this spring. Especially since he's due $730,000 this season, he'll likely clear waivers.

Rangers agreed to terms with RHP Rick Bauer on a one-year, $730,000 contract.

Bauer, who was dumped by the Orioles in 2005, was 3-1 with two saves and a 3.55 ERA in 58 games for the Rangers last season. He should be back on this year's squad as a middle reliever.

Rick Bauer will miss the rest of the season.

Bauer, who had to work 71 innings this year, is suffering from shoulder tendinitis.

Rick Bauer is expected to be available out of the bullpen Tuesday after missing seven games due to a hemorrhoid procedure.

The Rangers decided against putting Bauer on the DL over the weekend.

Rick Bauer could be headed to the 15-day disabled list following a hemorrhoid procedure Friday.

Such a move would clear a roster spot for John Wasdin, who is scheduled to start Sunday.
