Yorvit Torrealba hit a walkoff RBI single in the Rockies' 6-5 win over the Braves on Wednesday.
Torrealba did it as a pinch-hitter, too, adding to the heroics. The Rockies trailed by two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning when Jonathan Herrera, Troy Tulowitzki and Dexter Fowler staged a comeback rally against Braves closer Craig Kimbrel. Torrealba then helped the Rockies break through three frames later. Apr 24 - 7:16 PM

The Rockies plan to continue using Yorvit Torrealba as Jorge De La Rosa's personal catcher.

The Rockies believe Torrealba provides a needed calming influence for the left-hander. It means that Wilin Rosario will have the day off on Sunday. "It seems to work, plus we have a day game after a night game, so we'll roll Yorvit out there," manager Walt Weiss said.

Rockies purchased the contract of C Yorvit Torrealba from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

As expected, Torrealba will serve as the primary backup behind Wilin Rosario. The 34-year-old veteran beat out Ramon Hernandez for the job by hitting a cool .500/.545/.700 with a homer and five RBI over 13 games in the spring. He could be worth a look in the deepest of NL-only leagues while playing half his games at Coors Field, but has little fantasy relevance outside of that.

Rockies signed C Yorvit Torrealba to a minor league contract.

He'll get a minor league invite. It's an odd landing spot for Torrealba, who gives the Rockies a third catcher along with Wilin Rosario and Ramon Hernandez. Torrealba could open the year on the Opening Day roster if Hernandez isn't recovered from hamstring surgery in time. The veteran backstop batted .227/.293/.330 with four home runs and a .623 OPS in 218 plate appearances last season between the Rangers, Blue Jays and Brewers.

MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports that the Rockies have offered a minor league contract to free agent catcher Yorvit Torrealba.

Torrealba, who previously played with the Rockies from 2006-2009, batted .227/.293/.330 with four home runs and a .623 OPS in 218 plate appearances last season between the Rangers, Blue Jays and Brewers. The Rockies currently project to open the season with Wilin Rosario and Ramon Hernandez behind the plate, so Torrealba is said to be "considering his options."
Jan 21 - 5:34 PM

Yorvit Torrealba has opted for free agency.

Torrealba was removed from the Brewers' 40-man roster and refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Nashville. The 34-year-old backstop batted just .227/.293/.330 with four homers and a .623 OPS in 218 plate appearances this season between the Rangers, Blue Jays and Brewers, but he shouldn't have a problem landing a spring training invite somewhere.

Brewers acquired C Yorvit Torrealba from the Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.

He's not eligible for the postseason roster, but Torrealba will give the club more experience at catcher behind Jonathan Lucroy. The veteran backstop has batted just .233/.297/.339 with four homers over 59 games this season with the Rangers and Blue Jays.

Blue Jays purchased the contract of C Yorvit Torrealba from Double-A New Hampshire.

The Jays signed Torrealba a week ago after the Rangers cut him loose, and they wanted him to get in a few games in the minors before activating him. Torrealba will share time behind the dish with Jeff Mathis while J.P. Arencibia is out.

Blue Jays signed C Yorvit Torrealba to a minor league contract.

He's been assigned to Double-A New Hampshire and will play four games there before joining the Jays next week. Torrealba, who batted just .236/.302/.342 with the Rangers before being released, will back up Jeff Mathis with J.P. Arencibia on the shelf.

According to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Yorvit Torrealba appears headed to Toronto.

Torrealba was placed on release waivers by the Rangers last week after posting a brutal .236/.302/.342 batting line in 49 games in Texas. The Blue Jays will only have to pay him a prorated major league minimum salary.

T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers have placed catcher Yorvit Torrealba on release waivers.

Torrealba was designated for assignment last week. The Rangers were unable to find a trade for him, so he will be given his outright release if he isn't claimed. The 34-year-old backstop is hitting just .236/.302/.342 with three homers and a .643 OPS in 49 games played this season.

A trade sending Yorvit Torrealba to the Nationals "doesn't look like a fit," according to the Washington Post.

The Rangers designated Torrealba for assignment on Tuesday following the acquisition of Geovany Soto. Washington had initial interest, but discussions with Texas apparently fell through. The Nats are still interested in adding a veteran catcher, but it appears as though they'll shop elsewhere. Torrealba, 34, is hitting just .236/.302/.342 with three homers and a .643 OPS in 49 games played this season.

According to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, the Nationals and Rangers are expected to discuss Yorvit Torrealba on Tuesday.

Torrealba is expected to be designated for assignment by the Rangers on Tuesday following the acquisition of Geovany Soto from the Cubs. The 12-year veteran hit just .236/.302/.342 with three homers and 12 RBI in 49 games for the Rangers this season, but could bring solid defense and veteran leadership to the catcher-starved Nationals.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post hears that the Rangers have designated Yorvit Torrealba for assignment.

Not a big surprise, as Torrealba appears to be the odd-man out now that the Rangers have reportedly acquired Geovany Soto. Torrealba, 34, is hitting just .236/.302/.342 with three homers and a .643 OPS in 49 games played this season. He could draw some trade interest.
