He'll take the roster spot of Drew Stubbs, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with an oblique strain. Harris was just 3-for-35 (.086) in his first stint with the Reds this season. He'll offer some flexibility off the bench.

Reds signed OF Willie Harris to a minor league contract.

Mark Sheldon of reports that he'll earn an $800,000 base salary if he makes the Opening Day roster with the chance for an additional $200,000 in performance-based incentives. Harris, 33, batted .246/.351/.317 with two home runs and 23 RBI in 283 plate appearances last season for the Mets while playing all around the diamond defensively. He'll function as an active utilityman in 2012 for Cincinnati.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets haven't had any talks with free agent Willie Harris.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson recently said that he was open to re-signing both Harris and Scott Hairston. While the club just agreed to a new deal with Hairston, it appears Harris may have to find an opportunity elsewhere. The 33-year-old batted .246/.351/.317 with two homers, 23 RBI and a .668 OPS over 126 games with the Mets in 2011.

The Nats are looking for a left-handed batter off the bench, and Harris fits the bill. The veteran outfielder batted .246/.351/.317 with two homers over 126 games with the Mets this past season.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday that Willie Harris’s wife went into premature labor and lost the baby.

Horrible news. Harris caught a flight to New York late Wednesday to be with his wife and was placed on the paternity leave list. Baseball seems rather insignificant at times like this, but he could rejoin the Mets as soon as Friday. Fernando Martinez was called up from the minors to temporarily replace him on the active roster.

Willie Harris went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the Mets loss in Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

The multi-hit day was Harris’ first since Opening Day against the Marlins. That should tell you all you need to know about his fantasy viability, even in very deep NL-only formats. That being said, he did make his third start at third base today, putting him on track to gain eligibility there in most leagues in the near future.

He's back in the No. 2 spot after Scott Hairston got the start against the left-hander Cole Hamels on Tuesday. It's unlikely that Jason Bay will return this weekend, so Harris has some temporarily value in NL-only leagues.
