Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Ramon Vazquez "is aiming for a comeback and is drawing interest."

The 35-year-old hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2009. We can't imagine teams are beating down the door to sign him, but he can probably catch on with a minor league deal somewhere.

Marlins signed INF Ramon Vazquez to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A New Orleans.

Vazquez was released by the Blue Jays in late July after posting a .729 OPS in 90 plate appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas. The 34-year-old hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2009, when he was with the Pirates.

Blue Jays released INF Ramon Vazquez.

As teams sign their draft picks and other players move up the ladder, guys like Vazquez, who was signed to a minor league deal just a month ago, are getting the boot. The 34-year-old will attempt to catch on elsewhere.

Blue Jays signed INF Ramon Vazquez to a minor league contract.

Vazquez exercised an out clause in his minor league deal with the Cardinals earlier this month and has latched on with the Jays. The 34-year-old will provide organizational depth.

Cardinals released INF Ramon Vazquez.

Vazquez had an out clause in his contract for June 1 and decided to exercise it. He was batting .275/.362/.313 for Triple-A Memphis and should be able to catch on elsewhere on a minor league deal.

Cardinals reassigned SS Ramon Vazquez and OF Amaury Cazana to minor league camp.

Vazquez was signed to a minor league contract this winter and given an invitation to big league camp, but there isn't a spot for him right now on the St. Louis middle infield. He'll serve as organizational depth.

Cardinals signed INF Ramon Vazquez to a minor league contract.

Vazquez can play all over the infield, which automatically makes him a "Tony La Russa-type player." The 34-year-old spent all of 2010 in the minors, batting just .257/.330/.363 with one homer over 179 Triple-A at-bats. Ideally, he would represent depth in the minors.

Astros signed INF Ramon Vazquez to a minor league contract.

Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors has the story. The Mariners gave Vazquez a shot in April with a minors deal, but he failed to get it going offensively at Triple-A Tacoma. He has already reported to Triple-A Round Rock.

Mariners signed INF Ramon Vazquez to a minor league contract.

Vazquez was released by the Pirates earlier this month. The 33-year-old infielder batted .230/.335/.279 with one home run and 16 RBI in 204 at-bats last season. He'll serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Tacoma for now, but could call the call to the majors at any time.

Lookout Landing hears that the Mariners have signed Ramon Vazquez to a minor league contract.

Vazquez was released by the Pirates this month after hitting .230/.355/.279 in 204 at-bats in the first season of a two-year, $4 million contract. He had a nice year for the Rangers in the AL West in 2008, and he could serve as a replacement for Matt Tuiasosopo in a utility role if he finds his swing in Triple-A.

Pirates released INF Ramon Vazquez.

He was designated for assignment by the club over the weekend, but now he'll be free to sign with any team. Vazquez, 33, batted .230/.355/.279 with one home run and 16 RBI in 204 at-bats with the Pirates last season.

Pirates designated SS Ramon Vazquez for assignment.

With no interest on the trade block, this was Pittsburgh's only recourse. The writing was on the wall after Vazquez's putrid .176/.243/.176 spring. He'll likely clear waivers and latch on with an organization's Triple-A affiliate.
Sun, Apr 4, 2010 09:35:00 PM

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Dejan Kovacevic is reporting that the Pirates will release Ramon Vazquez.

They had been trying to deal him all spring to no avail, so this isn't a huge shock. Vazquez didn't exactly make himself indispensable this spring as he hit a forgettable .176/.243/.176. He joins the ever growing ranks of middling 30-somethings who are hoping to get an offer, but who have to know that they're fighting against time.
Sun, Apr 4, 2010 12:44:00 PM

Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Rangers are looking at Pirates infielder Ramon Vazquez to fill a backup role.

Vazquez has been on the trade block all spring, and it shouldn't take much to pry him away from Pirates camp. The 33-year-old batted .230/.355/.279 with one home run and 16 RBI in 204 at-bats for the Bucs last season. He is 3-for-12 this spring with one RBI in six games.
