Some major league teams are expected to give Tyler Walker a tryout later this week.
Ten months removed from right shoulder surgery, Walker is vying for a major league bullpen spot. Before his 2010 season was cut short by injury, Walker posted decent numbers: a 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 30 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings. If he is healthy, then it would not be surprising to see him in a major league uniform at some point this season. Tue, Jun 7, 2011 04:01:00 AM

Nationals released RHP Tyler Walker.

Walker posted a fine 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 35 1/3 innings for the Nationals this year, but he struggled to stay healthy and was done by July because of right shoulder surgery. The 34-year-old right-hander is now a free agent and is able to sign with any interested team.

Nationals transferred RHP Tyler Walker from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Walker underwent season-ending surgery on his right labrum and rotator cuff. The 34-year-old right-hander had a 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 35 1/3 innings before going on the disabled list in June. He'll hope to be ready for spring training next season.

Tyler Walker will undergo surgery on his right shoulder and has been ruled out for the rest of the 2010 season.

Walker has been on the disabled list since June 28 with inflammation in his shoulder and experienced a setback last week while trying to resume a throwing program. He had a 3.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 30/8 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings before the injury. The righty should be fine by spring training 2011.

Tyler Walker (shoulder) has been shut down from throwing.

Walker was placed on the disabled list on June 28 with inflammation in his throwing shoulder and won't return anytime soon. "Walker is not feeling that good," manager Jim Riggleman said. "He has not responded as well as we would have liked." There's no timetable for when he might resume throwing.

Tyler Walker (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday for the first time since being placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 28.

He'll have another session Wednesday, then will head to Single-A Potomac to pitch at least twice. Walker will also make stop at Double- and Triple-A before returning to the Nationals bullpen, hopefully later this month. He was pitching well before getting injured, holding a 3.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 30/8 K/BB rate over 35 1/3 innings.

Tyler Walker (shoulder) has yet to throw off a mound.

Walker hit the disabled list on June 28 with right shoulder inflammation and has made slow but steady progress. He threw from 120 feet on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A bullpen session should be near.

Nationals placed RHP Tyler Walker on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

It's too bad, as Walker has actually been a pretty efficient arm out of Washington's bullpen, posting a 3.57 ERA and a 30/8 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings this season.

Tyler Walker was torched for six runs and eight hits in 1 2/3 innings out of the pen on Tuesday.

The Nationals gave Walker a major league deal in January, indicating that a bullpen spot was his to lose. However, he's been shelled in both of his outings so far, giving up four homers and 11 runs in 2 2/3 innings. His ERA stands at 37.12.

Nationals signed RHP Tyler Walker to a one-year, $650,000 contract.

Walker, 33, posted a 3.06 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over 35 1/3 innings last season in a middle relief role for the Phillies. He'll work in a similar capacity this year for Washington and should provide an upgrade for their bullpen.

The Nationals have signed RHP Tyler Walker to a one-year contract, pending a physical, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

Walker revived his career by posting a 3.06 ERA in 32 appearances for the Phillies last year. The 33-year-old has a 4.32 career ERA over seven major league seasons and should take on a middle relief role in Washington.

Phillies purchased the contract of RHP Tyler Walker from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Walker was designated for assignment in mid-July and eventually accepted a role at Triple-A. He allowed just two earned runs in 11 innings with the Phillies earlier this season while compiling a 5/1 K/BB ratio. It's pretty clear that the right-hander deserves a spot on the 25-man roster.

Tyler Walker has accepted a minor league assignment, reports Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.

Walker was designated for assignment by the Phillies last Friday. He will report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Phillies designated RHP Tyler Walker for assignment.

Signed to a minor league contract in early April, Walker had a 1.40 ERA and 20/3 K/BB ratio in 19 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level before earning a promotion to the bigs on June 14. He allowed just two earned runs in 11 innings with the Phillies while compiling a 5/1 K/BB ratio, but the club obviously saw something in the right-hander that they didn't like. He's sure to find a home elsewhere.

Phillies purchased the contract of RHP Tyler Walker from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Walker was signed to a minor league contract in early April and has since gone 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA and 20/3 K/BB ratio in 19 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level. He should do well in middle relief for the Phillies.
