Joaquin Arias remained scorching hot in Sunday’s loss to the Tigers, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.
Arias is slashing an unimpressive .242/.274/.291 on the season, but has been on a tear in recent weeks hitting .481 (13-for-27) in his last 13 games. He remains nothing more than an NL-only option. Sep 8 - 12:06 AM

Joaquin Arias went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in Friday's loss to the Royals.

It was a rare start for Arias, who played third base while Pablo Sandoval got a bit of a rest out of the DH spot. The 29-year-old is batting just .197/.224/.226 over 79 games this season, so the two-year deal the Giants gave him over the winter looks like a bad gamble right now.

Joaquin Arias picked up his first extra-base hit of the season in a losing effort against the Padres on Friday.

He finished the night 1-for-3 with that double, raising his abysmal season slash to .186/.216/.196. He's useless outside of the deepest NL-only formats.
Jul 4 - 9:49 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that Joaquin Arias will receive the bulk of the playing time at second base while Marco Scutaro (back) is out.

It's not clear at this point how long Scutaro will be sidelined. Arias is a career .272/.302/.367 hitter who offers nothing in the way of power or speed, so he's a zero in fantasy leagues.

Giants and INF Joaquin Arias avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $2.6 million contract.

Arias was arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter, so he'll be a free agent at the end of the deal. The 29-year-old will continue to function as a utility infielder for San Francisco.
Jan 23 - 4:23 PM

Joaquin Arias requested $1.5 million and was offered $1.1 million from the Giants when arbitration figures were exchanged on Friday.

With the two sides so close, it's likely they settle around $1.3 million. He'll continue to function in a utility role for the Giants in 2014.

Joaquin Arias (hamstring) is likely to miss a few games after leaving Friday's game with a hamstring injury.

Arias noted that he felt pretty sore on Saturday. The 29-year-old infielder is unlikely to return to the lineup until early next week. He's slashing .271/.284/.342 with 19 RBI on the season

Joaquin Arias tweaked his hamstring in Friday's loss to the Yankees.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the injury occurred while going for a single to start the seventh inning. He's listed as day-to-day and should return to game action before the end of the weekend.

Joaquin Arias hit his first homer Wednesday off the Red Sox's Felix Doubront in his 161st at-bat of the year.

Arias surprised some with his five homers in 319 at-bats last year, and he hasn't been able to maintain the pop. On the plus side, he is hitting a nifty .288, though it's come without any walks to speak of. He'll continue to start at third base when Pablo Sandoval can't.

Giants activated INF Joaquin Arias from the 15-day disabled list.

Arias has been sidelined since an emergency appendectomy on July 7. The 28-year-old is batting .282/.302/.327 in 60 games this season.

Joaquin Arias (appendectomy) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno Wednesday.

He should be activated from the disabled list by the end of the week if all goes well. Arias has been out since early this month following an appendectomy.

Joaquin Arias (appendectomy) is expected to return from the disabled list in the middle of next week.

Arias had to undergo an emergency appendectomy on July 7, but had also been dealing with a nagging left hamstring injury. He'll return to a utility role, where he's hitting .282/.302/.327 with 10 RBI in 110 at-bats.

Giants placed INF Joaquin Arias on the 15-day disabled list with appendicitis.

Arias needed an emergency appendectomy late Sunday night and has also been dealing with a left hamstring injury since mid-June. The utility infielder should be feeling 100 percent again after 15 full days of rest.

Joaquin Arias (hamstring) went 1-for-3 with a double in his return to the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.

Arias has been limited the last two weeks due to a left hamstring strain, but was able to play all nine innings Sunday. He'll continue to provide depth behind Brandon Crawford and Pablo Sandoval now that he's finally healthy.
