Jerome Williams earned his first win as a Phillie, allowing one run over seven innings against the Mariners on Monday.
Williams went to the National League but has faced an AL team in each of his two starts with the Phillies, and both have been solid. On Monday, he limited the Mariners to three hits and three walks while striking out four. Williams was pulled after allowing a lead-off single to begin the eighth inning. Reliever Ken Giles would later allow the run to score. Williams has yielded only three runs in 12 1/3 innings with the Phillies. He'll try to keep it up when he takes on the Cardinals at home next Sunday. Aug 18 - 10:00 PM

In his Phillies' debut, Jerome Williams allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings of work against the Angels on Tuesday.

Williams, of course, is very familiar with the AL West after being claimed off waivers from the Rangers over the weekend. Between his work with Houston and Texas earlier this season, Williams posted a horrific 6.71 ERA over 28 appearances. Tucked into that number were eight earned runs in seven innings against the Angels in relief work, so this ho-hum outing was a step in the right direction. The right-hander is scheduled to face an AL West opponent once again next week, with a date against the Mariners on Monday.

Phillies claimed RHP Jerome Williams off waivers from the Rangers.

Williams has been awful this season, posting a 6.71 ERA over 28 appearances for the Astros and Rangers. However, he's probably a better option for the rotation than Sean O'Sullivan, who was designated for assignment. Williams figures to get the ball on Tuesday versus the Angels in what was expected to be O'Sullivan's turn.
Aug 10 - 2:08 PM

Rangers designated RHP Jerome Williams for assignment.

It's the second time this season he's been designated for assignment. Williams has managed just a 6.71 ERA over 28 relief appearances for the Astros and Rangers. He'll surely have to settle for a minor league deal somewhere.
Aug 8 - 4:30 PM

Jerome Williams allowed ten runs in four innings of work against the Indians on Friday.

Understatement of the Week: Jerome Williams' second start with the Rangers went much, much worse than his first one. The Indians were knocking him around from the start on Friday, with one run in the first, two in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth to go with thirteen hits. As if that weren't enough, Williams also walked three. His ERA now sits at 6.71 and it's tough to imagine Texas giving him many more opportunities.
Aug 1 - 11:25 PM

Jerome Williams tossed six innings of one-run ball in a 4-1 win over the Athletics on Friday.

Well, we weren't expecting that. Making his Rangers' debut, Williams held the A's to five hits and no walks while striking out five. The only run scored on an RBI single by Yoenis Cespedes in his final inning of work. Williams has likely earned another opportunity, but we're not expecting fantasy relevancy moving forward.
Jul 25 - 11:40 PM

Rangers purchased the contract of RHP Jerome Williams from Triple-A Round Rock.

Williams will join the rotation on Friday against the Blue Jays. The veteran right-hander held a 6.04 ERA and 38/16 K/BB ratio over 47 2/3 relief innings with the Astros earlier this season and is not a fantasy option.
Jul 25 - 5:06 PM

Jerome Williams will be called up from Triple-A Round Rock to start Friday against the Blue Jays.

Williams, who signed a minor league deal with the Rangers two weeks ago, posted an ugly 6.04 ERA and 38/16 K/BB ratio over 47 2/3 innings with the Astros earlier this season. He's not a fantasy option.
Jul 24 - 4:24 PM

Rangers signed RHP Jerome Williams to a minor league deal.

He'll head to Triple-A Round Rock as depth but has an opt-out clause that he can exercise if he's not promoted in the next two weeks. Williams was released by the Astros earlier this month after posting a 6.04 ERA.
Jul 11 - 4:39 PM

Astros released RHP Jerome Williams.

Williams had been designated for assignment last week. He put up a 6.04 ERA for the Astros but won't have trouble catching on elsewhere, though it might have to be on a minor league deal.
Jul 8 - 8:31 PM

Astros designated RHP Jerome Williams for assignment.

He gets the boot after allowing two runs over two relief innings Monday to push his ERA up to 6.04 for the season. The veteran righty turned out to be a poor investment for the Astros, as Williams was given $2.1 million over the winter to serve as a bad middle reliever for three months. That said, he should be able to find a veteran minimum deal once he clears waivers.
Jun 30 - 11:51 PM

Jerome Williams (groin) will be available out of the Astros' bullpen Saturday against the Rangers.

Williams sat out a few days with a minor groin strain. He's functioning as a long reliever this year for Houston.
Apr 12 - 7:04 PM

Jerome Williams (groin) is considered day-to-day.

Williams left Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays with a right groin strain, but it doesn't appear to be serious. Of course, the Astros could revisit the situation if it's still an issue a couple of days from now.
Apr 10 - 5:24 PM

Jerome Williams left Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a right groin strain.

Williams left in the middle of an at-bat, a sign that something was definitely wrong with the 32-year-old. A trip to the disabled list appears to be in the right-hander's future.
Apr 9 - 9:44 PM

Jerome Williams left Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to an undisclosed injury.

Williams immediately called the trainer out of the dugout after delivering a pitch to Edwin Encarnacion in the seventh inning. It appeared to be a lower-body injury, possibly a groin. The Astros should update his status shortly.
