Cubs signed LHP Horacio Ramirez to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Iowa.
Ramirez spent the early part of this season pitching for an independent league team, and posted strong enough numbers (1.96 ERA in 36 2/3 innings) to catch the Cubs' attention. He could be given a shot later this summer. Thu, Aug 16, 2012 06:36:00 PM

Horacio Ramirez has signed with the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization.

Terms aren't yet available. Ramirez didn't draw much interest in the free agent market after posting a 6.00 ERA over 12 relief appearances last season with the Angels. The 32-year-old left-hander owns a 4.65 career ERA over eight major-league seasons.

Horacio Ramirez plans to throw for major league scouts on Thursday morning in Tempe, Arizona.

Ramirez has struggled to attract free agent interest this winter after spending a majority of the 2011 season at the Triple-A level. The 32-year-old left-hander owns a 4.65 career ERA and 1.49 career WHIP in 688 1/3 innings.

Angels optioned LHP Horacio Ramirez to Triple-A Salt Lake.

We were under the impression that Vernon Wells was going to be placed on the disabled list, but this is the move to make room for Mike Trout on the active roster. Ramirez just returned from the minors Tuesday and earned in the win in Thursday's walkoff victory over the first-place Rangers. He'll likely be back in September.

Angels recalled LHP Horacio Ramirez from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Ramirez was just sent down to the minors last week, but is able to return due to the injury to Garrett Richards. The 31-year-old left-hander has allowed six runs (five earned) on 11 hits over four innings with the big league club this season and should pitch in middle relief.

Angels optioned LHP Horacio Ramirez to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Ramirez predictably posted an 11.25 ERA and 3.25 WHIP over five outings. He's no given to ever make another appearance in the majors.

Angels purchased the contract of LHP Horacio Ramirez from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Ramirez hasn't appeared in the majors since 2009, when he pitched in 19 games for the Royals. He's posted a 3.47 ERA over 39 games for Salt Lake this season but has struck out just 19 over 46 2/3 frames. He'll work in a long relief role.

Giants signed LHP Horacio Ramirez to a minor league contract.

Ramirez hasn't even been passable since going 12-4 with a 4.00 ERA as a rookie for the Braves in 2003. Now 30, Ramirez has posted a 6.32 ERA in the majors since 2007. He has only an outside change of cracking San Francisco's bullpen.

Nationals signed LHP Horacio Ramirez to a minor league contract, and assigned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

Ramirez was designated for assignment by the Royals earlier this month after posting a 5.96 ERA in 19 appearances (one start).

Royals designated LHP Horacio Ramirez for assignment.

They did so to make room for Luke Hochevar on the roster. Ramirez had a 5.96 ERA in 19 appearances (one start) for the Royals this season. The club hopes that he'll land with Triple-A Omaha.

The Royals have sent Horacio Ramirez to the bullpen and will start Brian Bannister in Wednesday's game.

Indirectly, the Kyle Farnsworth blows up may be helping the Royals here, since it's likely they would have stuck with Ramirez a while longer if they had won a couple of the games that Farnsworth lost. Ramirez, who had a brutal spring, gave up six runs in 4 1/3 innings in his lone start.

Horacio Ramirez will start Saturday against the Yankees.

Ramirez was originally scheduled to start Sunday, but will move up a day to accomodate ace Gil Meche's regular four-day rest schedule. The move was necessitated after Monday's opener against the White Sox was postponed until Tuesday. Meche will start on Tuesday and Sunday.

Horacio Ramirez fell to 1-3 after giving up six runs in six innings Thursday against the Rangers.

Fortunately, Ramirez's performance has no baring at all on his status in the Royals' rotation. If the Royals are willing to keep turning a blind eye all season, we'll have a legitimate chance of seeing a 20-game loser. Ramirez has allowed 32 runs -- 25 earned -- and 44 hits in 25 innings this spring. He has just two more strikeouts (nine) than homers allowed (seven).

Horacio Ramirez surrendered four runs -- three earned -- in five innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Rangers.

This is what passes as a good outing from Ramirez, who has given up 26 runs -- 19 earned -- in 19 innings this spring. Incredibly, he's still considered a favorite to claim one of the two openings in Kansas City's rotation.
