The Nationals did not offer arbitration to Kevin Mench.
A no-brainer for the Nats. Mench registered only three hits in 27 at-bast this year in Washington and will turn 33 before the start of the 2011 season. He will probably have to settle for a minor league contract. Tue, Nov 23, 2010 02:48:00 PM

Kevin Mench is expected to be called up from Triple-A Syracuse when Nyjer Morgan is placed on the disabled list Friday.

Mench hasn't appeared in the majors since 2008 as a member of the Blue Jays. He has a .269/.326/.460 batting line the big leagues. The 32-year-old outfielder is batting .249/.331/.338 with three home runs and 40 RBI over 281 at-bats with Triple-A Syracuse this season. He shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.

Kevin Mench went 2-for-3 and hit his first homer for Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

It sure seemed like a long shot when Mench was handed a minor league deal on Feb. 3, but perhaps the former Ranger could take over as the Nationals' right fielder at some point during the season. He's hitting .379 with a no strikeouts and six walks in 29 at-bats for Syracuse.

Kevin Mench has reportedly agreed to terms with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan on a one-year deal.

This needed to happen. Mench would have had to accept a minor league deal to keep playing in the U.S. He's expected to make about $2 million in Japan.

Blue Jays designated outfielder Kevin Mench for assignment.

The Jays didn't bother waiting until December to non-tender Mench. The 30-year-old hit .243/.321/.357 with no homers in 115 at-bats for Toronto this year. Since it's doubtful that he'll get more than a minor league deal this winter, he may want to consider playing in Japan.

Blue Jays recalled outfielder Kevin Mench from Triple-A Syracuse.

With the outfield healthy and Travis Snider set to have a big role, there shouldn't be much for Mench to do this month. Since he's followed up a disappointing 2007 with an awful 2008, he might have to head to Japan for playing time next year.

The 30-year-old went 23-for-98 (.235) in 42 games for the Blue Jays. The team will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Tuesday's game. Since homering in seven straight games in April of 2006, Mench has just 14 homers in 760 at-bats.

Kevin Mench singled in the winning run against Huston Street on Tuesday night as the Blue Jays scored a 4-3 comeback victory over the Athletics.

The A's were in control for much of the game, but the Jays rallied against Street in the ninth, tying the game at the three on Rod Barajas' RBI double before Mench drove in the winning run. Street's blown save erased a strong outing from Greg Smith, who tossed six innings of two-run ball and was in line for his sixth win.

Blue Jays recalled OF Kevin Mench from Triple-A Syracuse.

With Vernon Wells expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks, the Blue Jays needed outfield depth. Mench is hitting .283 with with a homer and seven RBI in 156 minor league at-bats. He'll likely see a few starts per week against lefties, likely at the expense of Brad Wilkerson and Adam Lind.

Blue Jays optioned outfielder Kevin Mench to Triple-A Syracuse.

Maybe Adam Lind will get to stick around for a while after all. Mench was hitting .210 with no homers in 62 at-bats since joining the Blue Jays six weeks ago. It's hard to blame the Jays for wanting to get rid of him when they were 0-12 in games that he participated in this month. They're 4-2 when he didn't play.
